  1. anybody seen one or know of one. wife shoots a gold team in 40 cal and has to wipe the lens on the c-more after every stage on account of the poppel holes. many thanks
  2. is the lpa adapter plate from jp enterprises the correct one to mount a j-point on a tanfo limited? thanks, vic
  3. 884 lazered yards according to the leica. s&w mod 57 8" 41 mag 215 gr swc & 19 grs 2400 @ a bouy in the mississippi river. took 2 cylinder fulls to walk them in. by that time i was aiming 1/2 way up a tree on the opposite bank. hit it twice with the 3rd cylinder full. 1/2" dents @ that range!
  4. anyone happen to know the measurements for the rear sight dovetail on a tanfo limited w/ adj sight. am trying to come up w/ an adapter to mount a j-point on the slide. jp enterprises lists one for an lpa cut but was asking for the dimensions of the cut on my gun, which,i cannot measure with any accuracy. is the lpa base correct for this gun as i believe tanfo uses the lpa sights? anyone have a slide mounted red dot and how did you do it? many thanks, vic
  5. have the opportunity 2 get a xd9 tactical w/ a j-point for little 2 no money for open matches. been shooting a tanfo 9mm limited for limited matches and do not need 2 meet a power factor. chime in tanfo and xd shooters, how hard of a transition could this be? i realize the j-point has a small window and loosing the dot could be a problem but we are shooting powder-puff loads. 125 gr cast @ 860 fps. trying to even FIND another tanfo 9mm will wind up costing over twice as much not 2 mention all the extras w/ the xd. any of ya'll ever been there or done that? most cordially, laura&vic
  6. bayou greens! 180 tc's for limited, 140 tc's for open. laura&vic
  7. do ya'll know of anyone that makes a rear slide mount for a tanfo limited or gold team? talking about using the rear dovetail to mount an STS,RTS,FASTFIRE,J-POINT or the like instead of a frame mounted optics mount. would make transitions easier between your limited and open guns and not have to give your optic a bath between stages if you shoot a ported barrel. thanx, laura&vic
  8. when i spoke w/ them they said davidson's may have some, they didn't. eaa suggested getting on a waiting list as the shipment from tanfoglio was 90-120 days out hense my question about the barrel. i cannot see where eaa offers a coned, comped barrel for the limiteds and gold team. don't know if they are being changed around or not. i tend to believe that the 9's are in the greatest demand as there are plenty of 38's 40's and others around.
  9. according to eaa, 9mm gold team guns are on about a 4 month waiting list. question, does anyone offer, or want to sell, a non-ported, compted barrel so one could convert a limited to an open gun? tried fitting my wife's 40 cal barrel to my gun - just to see if it would fit- and seems the recoil spring guide rod mite need to be different. input, advise, solutions appreciated. laura&vic
  10. can the average joe do this to better accomodate a barry mount? laura&vic
  11. wonder why? clays is slower than solo 1000! vic
  12. i understand the hazards of clays, hence the question about o.a.l. most likely will go lighter bullet w/ more powder for more gas for the comp. one powder for both keeps the logistics trail shorter tho.
  13. as our gun is around 10 days out, do you have to drive the racker out or does it come out by hand? sorry for the ignorance. laura&vic
  14. wanting to get a head start loadind for my wife's gold team 40 cal that is about 10 days away. gun comes w/ 2 silver factory mags and 2 that look like the "new" k series from henning. what is the longest you have been able to load w/ 180 tc's? looks like a lot of folks go 1.2 but how long is too much? will also be trying 140 tc's as they are the same profile as the 180's. just want to give myself the greatest margin of safety using clays for major w/ the 180's . thinking of power pistol for major w/ the 140's as we have a butt load of both powders. what say ye. thanx, laura&vic
  15. why does'nt someone come up with a racker that can swap from rt handed to lft handed by pulling a pin out or something as opposed to driving the thing out to strip the gun for cleaning. this, of course, would only work for single sided mounts. vic
  16. any info or data for this. looking to load 180 gr tc for wimp loads and 140 tc's for major w/ cast bullets in both. 180's w/ clays and maybe power pistol w/ the 140's for major. not looking for load data per say, just has anyone used a cast 140 for a major load? got an e-mail into donnie @ bayou bullets to see if he has a 140 gr green @ this weight or if he will coat & size a bullet i provide. looks like a 140 @ 1200'ish might be a good ticket in a polygonal bore. shooting a tanfo limited and gold team. laura&vic
  17. i've gone down as far as 3.6 grs power pistol w/ a 125 gr cast for 800 fps and it will still function my wifes 9mm sti trojan w/ a 12 lb recoil spring. vic
  18. at best, i get to shoot everyother weekend @ nick's matches. i don't like picking my brass up untill the match is over as we all pitch in on taping targets and scoring. most of the folks there will respect your property, but alas, there are a bunch of brass hogs also. tried the sharpie method of marking brass but it winds up all over my hands and clothes so i would just assume to not worry about picking brass up at all. 9mm is alot cheaper than super! my problem rite now is finding a tanfo gold team in 9mm to mate w/ my tanfo limited 9mm. really like these guns. the gun fits me better than a 1911 and exibits less recoil due to the lower bore axis. would like the details on your brass guy. many thanks, laura&vic
  19. kevin, i guess that is the answer i was looking for. let's face the facts that 9mm brass is an assload cheaper than super or sc as you are going to lose a lot of it. $200/1000 as opposed to new 9mm leaves a lot of room for more powder, bullets and primers not counting all the WWB shooters out there that stop @ wallyworld, shoot, and leave it on the ground to be picked up by a handloader. 9mm makes the most sense to me as i don't have to change the dillon up to accomodate another caliber, maybe only the powder charge. now if i could only find a gold team @ a reasonable price! many thanks, vic
  20. for all of ya'll in the know, does a 9 mil make any sense for an open gun as far as ported and comped barrels go? what would you guestimate the reduction in recoil to be with a 9 major load in a comped barrel over no comp w/ a 125 @ 1400'ish fps? would a 40 be a better choice or should i bite the bullet in brass costs and shoot a super or sc to generate more gas for the comp? the games i shoot now do not require a power factor and shoot a tanfo limited w/ 2.6 grs clays w/ 125 bayou greens @ around 870 fps. really soft, gun don't move. been looking around for a gold team in 9 mil but they are almost non-existant. bud's has one @ $500 more than a 40 or 45, WTF? if i knew w/ certainty that i would not ever have to meet power factor i would pick up another limited, knock the rear site off, buy a mount and stick a c-more on it and stay w/ the loads i shoot now. not really into the 1911 thing as the tanfo seems to be made to fit my hand like a glove and exibits less flip than my wife's 9mm trojan. input appreciated, vic
  21. tried posing this to eaa but after a week and no answer i'll try here. does eaa offer a top end w/ ported bbl and comp to "make" a gold team out of my limited? thanks, vic
