engraving pen to jack hammer it out. Works great!

this is carbon build up from Sport Pistol under a 115 Everglades plated projectile

That pic reminds me that mine is overdue for a cleaning.  How long did it take with the Dremel engraver?

I'm leaning towards the pistol, this is the second optic? I checked all the mounting, plate, and sight, all torqued and lock tite. Tampa-XD45, what other sites could I go to to read more on this. I looked at the DSC Gunworks site, no mention as to the reasons or benefits to welding up the chamber indicator. Have other pistols, not 1911, that have the similar notch in the barrel, and no issues.

Here's one site to review:  https://www.thearmorylife.com/forum/threads/prodigy-5in-w-hex-dragonfly.14389/

  3. I used JB Weld as the adhesive, and 60/90 grit silicon carbide in the smallest amount I could purchase on Ebay or Amazon.

Wearing latex gloves, I also gently pushed the grit into the adhesive to make sure there were no high spots.

Don't worry about a perfect application ... there's always tiny amounts you scrape or sand away after drying.

So after trying everything that was recommended I finally used my head and called Dillon CS. Basically no wait to talk to a very helpful gentleman. He asked me some basic questions and decided to send me a new #5 shellplate with an RMA return envelope prepaid.. Got it in a couple of days and changed it out. Ran 100 rounds with no issues.

Gotta love great companies & customer service.

Do you see any differences between the old & new shell plates?

I’d definitely slap on a 9mm brass deflector if I was a lefty.

Heck, I can get a cheap 3d printed one and slap it on for science and left handed shots.

Now that you've shot a match with it ... do you think it's worth $1,500 ?  Would you buy it again?

Use a trigger pull gage hooked on the hammer to weigh the final mainspring tension on the hammer. To do this, pull the trigger to partially cock the hammer, and hook the trigger pull gage over the hammer. Holding the trigger all the way back, gently lower the hammer/gage hook down on the frame. Start pulling on the gage and take the reading just as the hook lifts off the frame. Write down this number for future reference.

What's the advantage of this method vs using a trigger gauge conventionally in double action mode?

  7. In 8.2.3:  The competitor, while waiting for the start signal, must be pointing/aiming their gun at the aiming point with their finger off the trigger and the finger outside of the trigger guard.

If I'm running the timer and I can see that they're not pointing at the flag, I just tell them to point at the flag. It almost always takes 2 or 3 corrections for the shooter to remember to point at the flag.

Cool story, but for USPSA, my point still stands as it has a max round count of 32 and a TTI extensions hold 40/41 rounds. If you're missing 8-9 shots on a USPSA stage with a PCC, you've got bigger problems than what mags you're using.

Remember, that 32 round limit is for level 3 matches or higher.

  9. After 10 years my M&P R8 has a new problem where the cylinder release latch is sticking to the point where you can't open the cylinder.  It appears that the bolt is pinching against the hammer.  Check out the wear marks.  I guess I can stone the bolt and/or hammer.  Is this a common problem with N frames?

  10. I've had mine for many years and love it.  My only mods are Talon grips and a night sight.

Best grip angle for my hand.  Shot it in production division a few times.  Never shot wadcutters ... FMJ for USPSA & range practice.  It's normally loaded with Winchester 230g Ranger hollow points with an attached Streamlight TLR-1 HL.
