... it's fun to tell the wait staff that you want it dirty!
Hey now! Not like that! I mean it in that "spaghetti western - in a dirty glass" style, as in tough! Geeesh!
Of course that's what you meant
Southern Comfort on the Rocks, double.
If I really mean it, naked Tequila with a beer back.

I'm so jealous. I miss Texas (again.) Good for you though!

Each shot you take is the culmination of every shot you have ever taken whether they were in practice or competiton.
If someone made me diffentiate I would say live/dry fire helps train fundamentals and matches train technique. It's like milk and cookies, beer and pretzels, peanuts and chocolate, coffee and donuts. They're okay apart, but together they can't be beat.
Each shot does not know if it was fired in practice or competition. If it cared at all it would care if it hit or missed.

The movie that started my love affair with "unmasculine European coffees" (for those of you on the modern calendar this was during a year BS - Before Starbucks.)
I also learned that it took 7 minutes 17 seconds for Whitney Houston to sing the Star Spangled Banner during Superbowl XVII.

I can't believe this original post was almost a year ago.
I made myself go to practice tonight even though I didn't feel like it.
I did this thing tonight at 25 yards comfortably with .3 splits. After 54 rounds I had 7 C's, the rest were A's. Which is fine. The important thing is now I'm beginning to realize there is no such thing as shooting fast or slow for me. Each shot takes as long as it should. The thing is, it doesn't take me as long to do what I need to do as it did before.
My vision is pulled back. I can see the target, the dot, the break, the muzzle flash, the brass (even where it is going to land), and "yes virginia there is a santa claus" even the bullet every so often. There isn't even any real sequence to it. It just is.
My last search in this forum ended me up at the "Three Realms." I'm beginning to understand the difference between fundamentals and technique. All I can say is ... "wow, it's all here."
I was also starting to subscribe to the thought that the person who makes the least mistakes wins the match, but there is something in me fighting that. Somehow I want to believe that it is the one who opens their mind the most before and after and their eyes the most during that wins.
so much to learn ... so little time.
I guess all I can really say is:
Ma-ia-hii
Ma-ia-huu
Ma-ia-hoo
Ma-ia-haha

Based on mactiger's recommendation I tried JR's ... OMG.
I'm not buying from anyone else but them now.
Try these:
OMG these are awesome for less than a buck a piece.
Also, they have great prices on Partagas Black Label which have become my favorites.
Shoot happy, smoke happy

Just wait until he gets his hat back. Then he'll be invincible again.

There are some people out there that should not have guns, that guy might be one of them!
Sure he should. I've been trying to tell all the new shooters to "shoot happy." They are all so tense. I think if everyone "shot happy" scores all around the world would instantly improve.
-
For me it's the idea that the guy is just simply enjoying himself. He's being silly and having fun, with no other (readily apparent) motivation. I remember doing that when I was a kid. Now it only happens as a catharsis.
... now it happens with guns.

A win is a win. Excellent! I remember when it was faster to find my name starting at the bottom of the list ... brutal.

you're just as likely to hit a liquor store or topless club too...
I miss Texas.

Yes, to me slow down refers to mental processess rather than physical actions.
I think of "slowing down" as using zanshin or "remaining mind."
"It also means going beyond technique, because we cannot force the situation to conform to the technique."
"It means leaving nothing behind and pushing nothing forward."

Blow up dolls don't count, Kath.
Oh, and neither do dogs.
Dude, you still kill me ...

Erik Warren, he has a goatee. He reminds me of evil Cartman, with red hair.
Erik
Don't forget about Erik's other job as Adam Savage, the co-host of Myth Busters.

It sounds like you're headed in the right direction.

I ordered a belt and mag pouches from them about a year and a half ago. The prices were great and they did free shipping. After having my credit card charged right away and not getting anything from them for a few weeks, I tried to contact them. They have no phone number so I sent email.
After not getting a response from them after a few emails and a week, I finally sent them an email saying that I was going to call American Express and claim fraud. They responded to me after that.
I got my gear. It was good and have been using it since. I've been tempted to buy more stuff from them but have never given in.
That's my story ...

Why is the dot the most informative part of learning?
It's a vision thing. The difference between focusing continuously (mostly) on the target plane rather than alternately (usually) on the target plane-to-front sight plane. Becoming comfortable with focusing on "infinity" takes time (unless you are a natural). It doesn't matter what's under the dot at that point.
The comp only allows faster return of the sight which affects your "visual patience." This is applicable to both sights.
Open glock sounds awesome. Although, one of the critical things about "finding the dot" is index. Learning to shoot using the force with the glock will take adjustment if a 2011 frame is later used.

It sounds like you going open....

You can go to Rocky's and get the Cherry Humidor Special for $19.99.
They say it holds 25, but it holds more. I can get all 50 of those Honduran Factory bad boys in mine.
