  1. Thanks for the info Bubber, I remember you from the 2004 IRC and The Handgunner a few years ago. I have a 1-10 barrel blank in 9mm (at least that's what the seller said) I'll have to thread that up and give it try. I saw from an earlier post that heavy bullets where a good way to go, and I just ordered some 160 Horns and 170 Sierras to check out. Thanks for the info on WestCoast, we here in NE were using a bunch of the WC bullets till shipping costs starting getting to much, alot of here started using Montana golds. ANd I'm a big fan of hybrid ports even if those standing around me are not Thanks again, DaveP
  2. I have to go along with the great folks part of the Revo shooters. Did the IRC last year and since then I have been using local IPSC matches for IRC practice, Revo only shooters are so much nicer to be around The skill involved is also a big motivator, if it wasn't hard then more people would be doing it DaveP
  3. Hello Folks, have a few questions for this esteemed board of round gun enthusiasts, I'm building/re-building an Open Revo for the coming years matches, it'll start life as a S&W 627 38/357 8 shooter. My questions are.... Barrel twist recomendations ? Forcing cone angle (5-11-18 degrees or Taylor) ? Bullet/powder selection ? (what seems to work for you at 50 yards?) Compensation - - - holes thru the barrel or comped at the end ? Red Dot recomendations, (I'm partial to a 4 min OKO dot but what the hey, other folks may be interested in this thread) The Revo will be used for ICORE and steel challenge stuff so I'm talking light (120-130pf) loads. It will need minute-of-X-ring accuracy at 50 yards for ICORE standards and then minute-of-18x24 steel plate at 40yards (45 yrds??) for SC stuff. So what do you think ? Did I miss anything ? Thanks for any input, DaveP
  4. Oops, sorry, the SDM's do not hang over the end of the barrel, all mine are flush with the end. DaveP
  5. I've used a number of the SDM front sights also and one of the HiViz, trashed that one for an SDM. If you have the "Classic" type spring loaded front sight it's that simple to pop out the old and with a little struggle pop in the new SDM, being an inch long I've had to tap a couple to get them in that final few whiskers. The pinned type are actually easier IMO, but be carefull if you have to tap the sight into the cutout, don't want to smack that glow rod with a hammer (been there, done that, too impatient) I have also changed out the stock rear sight for a Millet, I think if you are using the shortest SDM front you'll want the tallest Millet rear blade, at least that's what I had to do on a 5inch 686 to get a decent 6 o'clock hold at 50 feet. Good luck if you go this route, it's a great sight IMO and the only one that still shows up indoors. DaveP
  6. Hope the link works, Gunsamerica has a 327 listed. http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976524046.htm 5 inch brl, looks like monogramed "JM" grips.

But then I'd have to clean it !
  8. Just checked the web site, http://www.isishootists.com/ September 15th to the 18th ??? I might be able to make it !
  9. Welp......I gotta chime in here again, broke one arm off my plastic de-mooner years ago, seems that if you use it on the 8 shot moons you can push the whole thing up too far! (or if you grind away too much plastic to get 38 logs to fit) Well, it still worked, only one shell at a time, but ya know, it works better? and I can use it on my 7 shot Baumann conversions (anybody remember those ) Bought one of the Super de-mooners at the IRC this past year, I still like my broken one. DaveP
  10. Yes, I second that........ HUH ?? DaveP
  11. No igornorance Chris, sometimes I don't call things by there right name, here's a description from the Mcmaster-Carr web site. Also known as elastic locknuts or elastic stop nuts, these reusable locknuts allow infinite adjustment because they hold the mating part in any position. They resist loosening from vibration and won't damage or distort threads. The nylon 6/6 locking element seals out liquids and protects bolt and nut threads from rust, corrosion, and galling. The nylon-insert is effective up to 250° F. www.mcmaster-carr.com Sent you a pm, hope it worked DaveP
  12. Chris, I've had a number of these strip or break and came to the conclusion that they just aren't that strong, I've replaced all mine with hardware store screws and nylon stop nuts. I've never seen a problem and I'm using these on pin guns that shoot 210 pf regularly. I belive the stk screws are close to a #6 screw (don't have them in front of me right now) If you really want a stock screw let me know and I'll mail you one, or maybe 3 or 4 ! DaveP
  13. Thanks for the info Kenny, when drawn up at 52 minutes it just looks like way too much, but then again thats what the NM dwg says and not necessarily what the other makers do. And Yes DougC I'm close to cutting metal if I can ever get the wiring figured out for my miller, and to have the time to workthe thing too Don't know why I'm messing with a flat gun anyway, revo's are the only way to fly Say Hi to the little one for me, maybe I'll have whatever gun I'm messing with done by PSA time ! DaveP
  14. Hello folks, I was just wondering if anyone knows the angle or some dimensions of the top of a stock 1911 slide. I have a GI dwg of a NM slide but can't find the angle of the top anywhere. Somewhere I read it was 1 degree, but after measuring a few that just seems like too much. Thanks in advance for any info, DaveP

    open glock

Looks like "Johnny Sandbagger" gots himself a new camera Now he just has to learn how to use it and ps, it still ain't a revolver
  16. What does this model look like ??? Any web links to pic ?? DaveP
  17. I just checked the ICORE web site and the Sept. 26th match @ Ontalaunee is also offering a $10 match fee so folks can just come out and shoot it for fun, small cost to come out and see what its's all about. DaveP.
  18. Just like to add that the Ontelaunee folks put on a great match and the stages are very 6 round friendly. The way Mark, Tom and the others run it is that they have a Trophy class so for those folks that want to try it out and see what it's all about basicly have a "section" that they can do that in which is coasts less to enter. S&W is very generous with giveaway items and for the last 2 years I don't think anyone has gone home without a nice S&W shirt or hat. As always the revo shooters are a great bunch of folks to shoot with and there is no problem with begining shooters or folks that just want to drag out that old Model 19 they haven't shot for eons. You'll need a safe (of course) hoster, 4-5 speedloaders and a way to hang them on your belt, other than that just show up to have a great time and hang with a bunch of nice folks. Seeya there, DaveP

Hello Revo folks, I plan on heading out to the IRC in 2004 for the first time, any tips on hotels or other things I should know ?? I didn't see a "match hotel" on the sign up app when I rec'vd it. What about ammo ?? do you folks bring your own loads or buy ICORE approved ammo while out there ? I'm sure I'll have more questions in the months leading up to the shoot, Thanks for any info. DaveP
  21. Garage door motors work very well as a mover motor, I made a mover with 2 wire rope pullys, about 75' of wire rope (wire cable from HD) and 2 "T" poles made out of black iron pipe. The garage door motors will reverse and hey ?? if ya want you can use the remote ! Getting AC power was my biggest problem, borrowed a generator from a friend and we were off. You will need to know the rpm of the motor to figure out the pully size to get the speed you want (10 feet/second-60 feet/6 seconds, thats what the rule book states anyway) The nice part about the garge door motor is the mounting base is already there, the reversing electronics and even limit switches for the target travel !! (I never did get that part to work right) Good luck, I had alot of fun with mine, DaveP
  22. Sorry for being late with this but wanted to let folks know there is a 1 1/2 day Steel match July 26th & 27th at the Westfield Sportsmens Club in Westfield Mass. Contact Bob Mead at bjm@jugglermeadow.com or Al Zitta at zm@zmweapons.com for more info. Basicly it's an SC style match with 7 stages of 5 targets each. Shotgun side match also. Match starts Sat the 26th @ 1:00 pm and Sun 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. squads. DaveP ps. if you would like a .pdf of the match entry form reply to this msg and I'll email one off to you.
  23. There is a gent in Oklahoma that can brighten your dot, he goes inside the battery module and replaces some resistors or something. He did my PDP5 and it works. Batt life will be shorter when you use the higher settings. Unfortunutly I can't fing his number The place is called "Oki-dot" (like the printer company so a web search turns up a ton of stuff. The last time I got his contact info was from a "Front Sight" magazine. Sorry I don't have more.
  24. I've only had one gun worked on by Scott but he did a fine job(with what he had to work with!) Do check out the 1911 forum, he has some comments and pic's of his recent work.
