  2. _________________________________________________________________________ Kimberkid, Setting up a Remington shotgun; first why would you buy a Hastings aftermarket barrel? What division do you what to shoot in Open, Limited or Tactical? 1. 1100 or 1187 barrels come off the same, just remove the mag tube and take the barrel off. The 1187 would be my choice, but I have two 1100's. 2. Tuning the shotgun for low recoil slugs, you may need to drill the gas ports, found inside the barrel. Do a search on drilling gas ports for a Remington 1100/ 1187. 3. A gunsmith may or may not be necessary, do the search on this forum and read all you can before starting the project. The 1100 & 1187 standard shotgun has two gas ports but the 1100 & 1187 magnums has one gas port. You will want the standard barrel for your shotgun. DVC, Mell
  3. Guys, You can find the Nu-Line 1100/1187 gas system at Brownell's part # 655110000. If you are looking for good sights for your shotgun take a look at the Williams Fire sights at http://www.williamsgunsight.com/ . Brownell's has a lot of competition parts for Remingtons, just do a search on thier site. Good luck this year with your Remingtons. Mell
  4. Mike & TDean, Eric told me that his Remington rings will last 200 to 300 rounds according to what ammo you shot in your gun. I change mine before a match or after 200 rounds of practice. Have you shot any low recoil slugs thruogh your shotguns to see if they will cycle and what size barrel are you using? Which slugs are you using and what is the velocity of the load? Drilling the ports to the right size and then finding the right ammo to make it cycle is the trick. DVC, Mell
  5. Hi Joker & Glocksters, I have a G35 and a G24 that I use in Limited. The great thing about the Glock pistol is that most of the parts are interchangeable. Joker you can buy a G35 and then buy a G24 slide that will fit on the G35 frame. DVC, Mell
  6. The Docter is still #1, what Eric said is the truth. The third generation Docter or a Docter done by Grams.
  7. Hi 686+, Here is an update to the recoil pads question: Remington R3 pad & Competition Master recoil pad = LimbSaver they are all made by LimbSaver. DVC, Mell
  8. Hi 686+, You may want to try the Remington R3 Recoil Pad for Remington 1100 & 11-87, I don't know if it only fits the synthetic stocks. I like the one I have on my CM 1100. The R3 and the Competition Master pad are the same thing. Midway has a sale on them now until Jan. 31,06 for $22.00. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/...leitemid=991815 Good luck with your Rem 1100, I hope this will help you. DVC, Mell
  9. JRPP, The Remington 1187 is the next generation in the 1100 series. The 1187 has a stainless steel mag sleeve and a better gas system then the 1100. I have a 1100 Limited and 1100 Open shotgun but my next shotgun will be a 1187 Sportsman with a 1187 21" turkey barrel. Dick's Sporting Goods sells the 1187 Sportsman for about $500.00, I hope this helps. DVC, Mell
  10. Hi Guys, The Remington Reduced Recoil slugs travels at about 1140 velocity and the Remington Managed Recoil slugs are 1200 velocity. The Managed Recoil may cycle better in your 1100. DVC, Mell
  11. Hi Stinger, I like your set up. I have an Open 1100 Rem. with a Docter red dot, 23" ported barrel and 10 round tube. I recently called Briley to purchase a Comp Choke but they don't make them any more. I also have an order in at 3Gun for a 6 pack speed loader pouch. Mell
  12. Alex, Nice set of guns, good luck with them. Mell
  13. Hi Shooters, It's time to show off your Open, Limited or Tactical shotgun. Some of you have some real tricked out stuff, so let's see them. DVC, Mell
  14. Hi Guys, I'm shooting a .40cal Glock 22 Open gun, here is what I use: 1- Vihtavuori N-350 8.5grs. 2- Federal small pistol primers #100 3- Rainier HP 135gr. bullet 4- KKM barrel with 4 pop holes 5- EMI Brian Hawley, 4 top 2 side port comp 6- Obsidian Connection 1 1\4lb trigger by Wil Spruell 7- Docter red dot 8- PF 170 9- Bullet OAL 1.125" 10- NHO plus one followers by Tom Novak ( adds one bullet to mag ) My gun is working well so far, if you would like to view my gun go to http://www.experimentalmachining.com/glock.html . Good luck, Mell
  15. Joe, Larry is right on target about this, you want to be about 170PF so stay in the area of 1250FPS to 1260FPS. Remember Joe, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Good Glocking, Mell
  16. Hi Joe, Try 1.125" as your OAL (+) or (-) .003". The crimp is around .420". Try a 15lb. spring with three coils cut off, you want the breech to open wide, so don't use a stock 17lb. spring in an Open gun. Go to Matt Kartozian's CGR for more data: http://www.custom-glock.com/glocktech.html and http://www.sportshooter.com/gssf/tinkering..._perfection.htm . Joe does your gun jam with all your mags? check the spring in the mag. Email me if you are still having problems, don't go to a heavier bullet 135gr. or 155gr. should work fine in a .40cal Open Glock. IMHO if you are going to shoot a 180gr. bullet then switch to a Limited gun. DVC, Mell
  17. Brian, Go to www.loadyourown.com/loaddata you may find some info there. DVC, Mell
  18. Joe, Your gun is very interesting and good looking. When you say homebuilt job, do you mean you did all the work on this Open Glock gun, please give more info on parts and work? I was talking to gunsmith Brian Hawley about having a V6 port job done on my barrel and I see you have one on yours. The pictured gun looks like a Glock 24, great job. Okay if you have a 6.02" barrel and a comp about 1.50" which is about 7.50" long comp and barrel. Why do you need the velocity of over 1350fps? Joe if you go up to 1300fps X 135gr. bullet = 175.5PF you can use a plated bullet that cost less then jacketed. I changed from Montana Gold JHP to Rainier PHP bullets and find that the Rainier's are accurate. You also may want to try the HS-6 or HS-7 Hodgdon powder, Vihtavuori is getting to expensive and Hodgdon powder is very clean burning. Send more info about your gun, I'm saving the picture. I don't have any pictures of my new G22 Open gun but if you go to the EMI site you can see the top half of my gun, it's the one with the Docter dot : http://www.experimentalmachining.com/gallery.html . DVC, Mell
  19. Joe, If you need your bullet velocity to be 1350 to 1400, you will not be able to use a plated bullet. Plated bullets should not exceed 1350V, so the Nosler 135gr. JHP bullet is where you may want to start. As for powder, I use V V N350 8.5gr. in my Open Glock 22 with a KKM barrel and a Brian Hawley EMI comp with four top main ports and two ports on each side. Hodgdon's HS-6 or HS-7 will work as well. Federal primers work good in Glock Open guns, my AOL is 1.120 to 1.125. Like ChuckS said go to the Jeff MAASS site for more IPSC .40 loads. Joe why do you need to go 1350V with a 135gr. bullet that's 182.2 PF, you only need 165 PF for USPSA/IPSC? Tell us more about your gun or email me at Mell531@Hotmail.com. DVC, Mell Hey Joe where you goin' with that gun in your hand? Jimi Hendrix (I had to say it)
  20. .40cal Limited Load Thanks for all your help Guys, I just received my shipment from Powder Valley and I'm going to try and work up a load for my Limited G35 w/KKM barrel. I'll start at 5.7grs of Universal and work my way up, using the Rainier 155gr.PFP bullets. DVC, Mell

    OAL for G35 KKM

Syme, My OAL in G35 with a KKM barrel is 1.120 to 1.125 using a M. Glod 155gr. JHP and or Rainier 155gr. PHP . I hope this info helps you. DVC, Mell
  22. Thanks for all the info Guys, I feel that I need a fast velocity bullet for moving and or swinging targets so I use a 155gr. PFP Rainier or 155gr. JHP MG .40cal bullet at 1.125OAL. The velocity is about 1100 which will get me to about 170PF. I see most Limited shooters are using 180gr. bullets to tame recoil and muzzle rise but 950V x 180gr. = 171PF and that is to slow for the way I shoot. The Montana Gold 155gr. JHP and the V V N-330 worked well together. I'm hoping that the Universal powder and the Rainier 155gr. PFP will work as good. I shoot Open and Limited division and never use Glock barrels in any of my four Glocks, they are all KKM barrels. DVC, Mell
  23. Hi Shooters, In the last three years the cost of reloading ammo has gone up, as you all know. I'm replacing some of the components I use with items that are just as good but cost less. I've switched from using Montana Gold bullets to Rainier's. My favorite Limited .40cal powder load was Vihtavuori N-330 6.5grs, shot in my G35. I just ordered 8lb. of Hodgdon's Universal powder to replace the N-330. If you have worked up a load using Universal for IPSC Limited division would you please give me your info/feedback on this powder, thanks. DVC, Mell
  24. Hi Indedt, I think the Glock 35 with adjustable rear sight is the way to go for Limited 10/ Limited. Check Matt's site CGR; http://www.custom-glock.com/index2.html for some custom items you may want to add. DVC, Mell
  25. Hi Jeeper, Good stuff, thanks. DVC, Mell
