  1. I Really wish they would have picked different names for the divisions. This whole 'Pro' thing kinda sucks. Ya I got an invite to the 'Pro' series but the last thing I would ever consider myself being is a 'Pro' shooter lol! Nobody has ever bothered to pay me to do anything with a gun!
  2. I'm in the same boat. Had to turn down my Pro Tour invite, just not enough time and $$$ to make it happen. Bummer. Gonna sign up for the semi pro tour too, pretty cool they set up multiple series. Seems like there should be something for everyone this year. Nice job 3Gun Nation!
  3. I have been running the 20" JP for 2.5 years now and love it. Just built another upper with an 18" light contour for matches where there isn't as much long range targets. I still plan on using the 20 at RM3G for the higher velocity and smaller holdovers as I am shooting limited only this year. Haven't really shot enough rounds thru this 18 to give a good comparison.
  4. Went thru this same process this summer. I shot a sx2 for a year and half and switched to a m2 this summer. The sx2 is definitely softer to shoot and nicer to reload, very smooth. I made the switch for three reasons. First was that I was having intermittent problems with failure to go into battery, mostly with slugs. I finally had it running birdshot flawlessly but I kept having issues that for some reason would only show up during matches. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. Also got tired of the rail on top. Felt I wasn't seeing targets as cleanly as I should. Loved the rear sight tho. Third reason was the weight. Just too darn heavy. Looked at building a sx3 but ended up with an m2. Bought a 26" American version new for $875, put on a Nordic tube, fiber front sight, opened up the loading port and installed a flip up 10-22 rear sight. Gun runs flawlessly. I just need to adjust the gun to fit me a little better but no regrets on switching. Everyone seems to want 24" gun but the 26" with a 10 round tube is the bomb!!
  5. I purchased an M2 a couple months ago, switched over from a SX2. Ended up getting a 26" model and love it. Put a nordic extension to give me 10 rounds in the tube, matches up great with the barrel. Don't mind the extra length at all but love having the extra capacity. Being able to pop a couple more rounds in after the buzzer comes in handy on some stages.
  6. I've had pretty good results with my Pmags. I am still using some in practice that are over two years old with out problems. I usually run the same mags for a year then swap out whether i have any problems or not. Has anyone noticed more problems with either older mags or newer ones? I am only running older Pmags that i purchased a few years back.
  7. Props to my man the 'Hawaiian Jedi' for making the shootoff and advancing to the finals! Finally starting to get back into form. Nice job. Congrats to Rusty B for edging out Kalani in what has to be one of the closest 3GN shootoffs ever! That Daniel guy, he's pretty good though. Great job Rustin on making the finals on your first shootoff, i'm sure it wont be your last!
  8. Running a UBR right now after switching from a CTR. Love it. Solid feel, good cheek weld and adjustable. I think I will almost always go with an adjustable. I can definitely remember a few stages where you would be in trouble if you couldn't shorten your stock.
  9. I have been using pmc for all my short range competition ammo and training ammo with great success. No problems at all. It's really good for me because it has the same POI as my 77's with my competition rifle
  10. I am a relative newcomer to the 3 gun world. I've been focused on 3 gun for less than a year and only have two big matches under my belt, 2009 SMM3G and 2009 RM3G. I think the furthest target at SMM3G was just over 300 yds and i shot that match with my aimpoint. It was what i had a the time. I love the aimpoint but i new for RM3G i needed a variable power optic to be competetive in tac scope so i bought a Meopta. I busted my ass all summer to become a much better rifle shooter, get a really, really good zero, load 77's and figure out my ballistics to hit the shots i knew i was going to have to hit at that competition. I ended up doing waaay better than i thought i was mostly because of my ability to hit the longer range targets. I saw people shoot at the long range targets that were much more experienced rifle shooters than myself that crashed and burned. They didn't do their homework. Maybe they didn't have a really really good zero, and they probably didn't practice what they probably knew they should have. This is what i love about 3 gun. You have to work hard to be competetive and make the tough shots. You can't just go out and buy fancy guns and go shoot. Your shooting faults will become apparent pretty quick on challenging stages. Realistically i think around the 400 yd mark is perfect for 3 gun. Most of the targets will end up being between 200 and 300 but i think you need those father targets to add some real difficulty and reward the shooters that will work hard to be prepared. Don't get me wrong, i love to run and gun with my rifle but i want to shoot both ends of the spectrum when give the opportunity. Also a +1 for the target size issue, 3 MOA targets sound great. The targets are RM3G that had the yellow backers you could see really well for the most part. Just my .02 cents! Mark S.
  11. Picked one up a couple weeks ago for my home gun with an M4s. Really like the other Magpul products so i thought i would give it a shot. Cool sight. Very easy to activate and it looks cool. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but so far i've been impressed. Can't beat the price either, especially for something that will be folded down on my rifle and probably never be used once i sight it in.
  12. I have been looking for a SLP or an SX2 for about a month and a half. The only new Mark 1 gun i could find for sale was $1050, other than that they were rifled barrel models. I think $950 is a good price right now especially with how hard they are to find. I just picked up an SX2 for the same price.
  13. I am looking to purchase a new shotgun for 3-gun comps and am looking hard at the FN SLP. All of the SLPs i've seen have a 3" chamber. All of the Winchester practical guns i've seen have the 2 3/4" chamber. Is it preferable to use the guns with the 3" chamber? I assume there is some dimensional differences with the loading gate/opening for the 2 3/4" guns? I would tend to think the longer opening would be a little easier to load. Does anyone have any experience loading both and have an opinion on which they prefer? I have seen a couple used winchester's but am hesitant on making a purchase. Thanks for the info!
  14. I need a little educating here. I am assuming that the mag bodies for 38 super and 9mm are the same. The 10 rd mags that came with my 9mm edge have a spacer behind the follower (guessing to compensate for the shorter 9mm round). My question is can I replace the follower and insert a spacer into a 38 super mag to make it work for 9mm?
