Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I don't know about anyone else but I custom built my own rifle 5 years ago and I can't tell you how many parts I have changed not due to failures, just my personal preferences and trying to find the next thing to help me shoot faster/better. Seems like whatever you buy you will end up shooting a season then find a part you can change to make your rifle a better fit for you. Isn't this why the AR platform is so darn awesome?!
  2. I would love me some freshly painted targets for every squad. Never understood why for 95% of long range stages the targets couldn't be repainted between squads. There will always be some targets that are tough to get to but for the most part it could be done.
  3. I started with a 2 Moa aimpoint and loved it. Hard to beat running around. Started shooting a DCD Pris and am hooked. Really like the super clear glass and very crisp aiming point. Only draw back is that it's black and it can get lost on some targets, usually La Rues. Although at distance you are typically going to be holding over the target so it doesn't matter much.
  4. Switched to a Seekins comp last month and really like it. Very smooth feeling, doesn't jar the eyeballs lol.
  5. Got to play with the new raptor handle on a buddy's rifle, pretty sweet. I think that would be my top choice at this point.
  6. Last time I just bought a box of the Remington dummy rounds from Brownell's I think?
  7. I don't know about anyone else but I filled out my practice form and kept saving it so it would update the countdown timer. Last time I did a practice save it read one second until start and I just saved it again and I was in, #16. I still think the process sucks, too many variables that we can't control. Two of my local buddies didn't get in either.
  8. Nothing is going to beat the Pris for longer ranges. Haven't tried to even use the illumination in the almost three years I've had mine, doesn't work so good in AZ. The clear glass and really crisp aiming point is tough to beat. I have a comp m4 with a 2 moa dot that I like but only for about 250 and less.
  9. I finally broke down and tried some load four this week. Using Taccom holders I borrowed with 40 mins of practice the first night and 20 mins the next I was able to bust five consecutive sub 5 sec load 8's. this was strong hand, feels more solid for me even though I am used to weak hand caddy loading. As a reference I would have trouble doing a sub 6.5 sec weak hand reload consistently even after years of practice. I just think its faster with much less practice required. I am by no means match ready for this loading but with a couple weeks practice I think I will be. Definately need to wrap my thumb tho lol.
  10. Ditto on removing the magnifier, you have a non magnified optic so just run it in limited. 200 yd zero should work great, just know your holdover for close range targets. The dot will probably be faster for most people so I don't see the need for irons on that gun if you stick with the eotech.
  11. I guess someone needs to explain to me how a little play between the receivers is going to affect accuracy. The upper receiver, barrel, BCG, optic, and bullet are all locked up together on the upper. As long as the BCG strips a round off of the lower, how is the fit between the two really going to matter?
  12. Talked to a junior shooter and his mom before we left who picked a ammo can off the table. Busted that thing open and found a Remington versamax certificate. They were stoked lol. Pretty cool. BIG props to my buddy the Hawaiian Jedi for winning tac scope. He earned it big time.
  13. That rifle looks sweeeeet. Nice to be different sometimes.
