Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The front sight on my G17 is .100 and the front sight on my G34 is .125. I also think that a longer barrel is more forgiving ....
  2. I shot a number of drills on two steel plates with a G17 and a G34. Everything was equal except for the size of the groups. The G34 was always signifcantly tighter
  3. The Sooper Hooper is the same holster that David S. uses for Production and Limited.
  4. I have the Dawson's on my G17 and on my G34. They have greatly increased my accuracy.
  5. I use a KyTac Sooper Hooper.
  6. We have been working on some steel loads for the STI Competitor and the STI Hornet. Here are our initial results: 124 MG JHP/5.0 V320 yields an average velocity of 1118 fps/PF 138 in the Hornet and an average velocity of 1148 fps/PF 142 in the Competitor. It was very soft shooting. 124 MG JHP/6.5 3N37 yields an average velocity of of 1028/PF 127 in the Hornet. This load was deadly accurate.
  7. I have a Del Fatti SR for my Hk P7M8. It is absolutely fabulous. Top of the Line.
  8. I just received my .38Super die from EGW. Concur. Lee die w/red box. Die actually has a "U" engraved in to it after they undersized it.
  9. Gentlemen, Thanks for all the help. The pistol has been 'smithed and is running. I am disappointed that a $2400 pistol doesn't run out-of-the-box as advertised on the STI website. So far, only my German engineered pistols (Hk P7's and all the Sig-Sauer line) have been flawless out-of-the-box and are at least half price. TQM
  10. The Good Book reads...after the shooter indicates to the RO that he is ready, the RO goes to Stand By and off we go. However, if you are at a friendly match, as I was, I was an RO who reminded the shooter to put a mag in his gun after he said that he was ready. He just had one round in the chamber. I did not go to Stand By. Once the buzzer goes.......it's showtime. Mandatory reload on the draw? Do it. Go, go, go or take a DNF.
  11. The only peson that I have ever spoke to/e-mailed to was Chris. Here is Chris' response: Is the brass getting stuck in the gun, causing a stoppage? Hitting the scope mount, and back of the slide is normal. How close are the angles on the ejector? I know we can get this fixed, just need to have a few questions answered. I have answered these questions to Chris and I am waiting a response from Oct 7. STI has been experiencing server problems. I will contact them again soon. I do not want to appear "pushy".
  12. I just had a broken ejector replaced in my year old Edge. The paperwork cited a ".38/.40" ejector replaced. The ejector in my Edge looks exactly the same as the ejector in the Competitor.
  13. I have seen the gun. The comp actually pushes the gun down and you have to bring it back up to fire again. They tried to extend the mag to hold more than 13, but it couldn't work. Slide moving too fast and mag spring too weak at full extension. I haven't seen the guy in over a year and I can't remember his name. His gun, I remember. He used to shoot with us at Downeast Practical Shooters in NC. We had some double takes on the double tap head shots we used to take with our P7's. Cloverleafs always. 1911 guys didn't know what to say. You might be able to make contact at the P7 Cult at Park Cities Tactical. Someone there might know him.
  14. Gentlemen, I have a new STI Competitor. I have recently put the first 500 rounds through it at PF 175 or above to break it in. Unfortunately, the last 100 were during a USPSA Match and I had three failures to eject. The first 400 were just a couple shots at a time. Didn't hit warp speed. The following Saturday, we went back to the range to obseve what the brass was doing. About every third shot, the brass would hit the C-More mount and shoot straight out or straight down. The upper left hand corner of the slide near the ejection port is speckled with brass dings. I contacted STI and they said that the brass hitting the mount is normal. What say you?
  15. This is all interesting reading. The mags have 3 holes. They do not fit in a .40 or a .38 Super STI frame. .38 Super and .45 ACP rounds do not fit in the mags. Only .40 S&W do. When inserted in the Para and with the mag catch/release removed, the holes do not line up. Not even close. But, you can see the mag hole above the frame hole. Could the mags have been cut incorrectly?
