  1. Newguy, When you say the primers are flattend is the firing pin mark flattened or the edges of the primers flattened? Alan
  2. McOliver 7.2 leaves me about a .10" from the top of the case. While spillage can occur I am the odd one out on progressive presses. I have done all of my reloading on a RCBS Auto 4X4, so I have gotten to where I can place the bullet on top of the case as the shell plate indexes to the next position thereby reducing the chance of spillage. Due to the height of the True Blue and the ball shape I prefer the True Blue. I did not tell a difference betwen N350 and True bleu as dar as how the gun shot. My Originial quest was to find as many powders that would work for major9 and provide that information. So if it came to not being able to find a specific powder I would have an established list to pick from and not have to work on load development say a week before a major match.
  3. Paul, I've noticed the same. I was looking at it real close and the powder height at 8.0 grains doesn't even come close to the bottom of the bullet when it is seated to 9mm specs. (not long like alot of shooters are loading.) I'll be trying it after the Nats. I dont want to change what I am doing right now too much. I should have data before the end of Sept. Alan
  4. Newguy, What brand of Chrono are you using? Also try bumping your load .2 grains to 7.6. My 9 is a shorty with no barrel porting. Commander slide and the barrel is only 4.5". Also the difference between barrel manufacters and the chamber finising and barrel leade al can play a determining factor. Alan
  5. I thought it was 500 complete guns available for sale for one year. I don't have the rule book handy t verify that though.
  6. The Caspian Hi-Cap frame is legal for .40 in limited due to Fred CRaig producing a complete gun to mee the required number back about 1997.
  7. Caspian is working on the design to have .40 mags.
  8. Kingman, I think you will find otherwise in the comparision between 540 and longshot...
  9. A minor correction on the Summer Blast. Larry Houck Runs this match for the FOP. Fredericksburg is not the host. That is just where he holds the match. Now alot of the RO's are local. If the matches are planned properly there should be no reason that a club could be a host or site for 2 major matches a year. It is all in the logistics and planning.
  10. Also Longshot has the ability to remove fillings. I shot a load in my .40 open a few years ago and the concussion was incredible. The RO actually complained. Of course my comp did not help as the three ports are tilted back 11 degrees.
  11. Denise, Fredericksburg made a presentation to host the Area 8 this year but was told that the dates selected were not good, George then went to Dave and Topton to host the Area 8. So it is not a question of if clubs are willing but if the dates meet the desire of the AD. Alan
  12. Actually True Blue seems to have the best density leaving a good .25" to seat the bullet. This is with 8.0 grs.
  13. It is sad that this years mens basketball team players have totally destroyed the originial concept of the true dream team. Nothing like letting their ego's really shine through. But that is what the NBA has become all about.
  14. Del Taco Meat Burrito with Green sauce. Haven't had many of them since I moved from So Cal to Virginia. Also in doing so I have seen the greatest site in the world, CA in the rearview mirror of the UHaul. Alan
  15. Here is my belief of why major 9, I was planning on building my last open guns in 38Super/SuperComp/TJ. The advantages of Supercomp/TJ is the rimless case. There is a strong belief that the rimless cases feed easier in doublestack mags. So in looking at the options I didn't build my 9majors to alleviate picking up brass especially at practice sessions. But it does help at lost brass matches which seem to be the norm here in NO. Virginia. The cost differntial in the availability of once fired are the economics that drove my decision. Alan
  16. Don't matter to me call the order and let's shoot. Alan
  17. That is why emphasis should always be on overall finish and not class placing. Alan
  18. I really hate that in this day and age of telecommunications we still have major matches that do not post interim results. How are we supposed to check on our shooting buds and their performance in the major matches. Alan
  19. Bob Perkins of Bob's Cop Shop in So Cal is the Designer and Maker of the EE parts, C&S was purchasing from Bob. The Design is solely Bob's. Bob has always manufactured these under the Extreme Engineering logo. Alan
  20. Turtle, The hammer that broke was a first gen that was 12 years old. Lifetime warranty replacment. Alan
  21. Monster, You should be able do that.
  22. Stroke Measurement 5" Govt Model Slide ~2.130" Commander Slide on Full Size Frame ~1.795 What does this mean? Who knows. My quest for the holy grail is to get the reciprocating mass down as low as possible. Right now my commander slides on my Major 9's weigh-in right around 9.5 ozs. By having a slide that starts out 3/4" shorter gives me a good start in lowering the slide weight. Alan
  23. ogiebb I would be interested in seeing where the cutting would take place. I'll do some measuring and post here later. Alan
