  1. My wife shoots a custom 9mm CCO (Commander slide, Officer frame). The gun is basically stock with a 10-8 rear and a green fiber front site. This is the gun she carries so IDPA gives her a good chance to practice.
  2. U die and lee factory crimp die and I have ZERO problems with glocked brass. Actually I'm not even using the FCD right now. I size all my 40 brass with a Dillon size die turned down until it presses on the shellplate, and have never seen chambering issues with my M&P or 2011. My next single stack will be a 40 for all of the reasons that steel1212 mentioned, mainly cost and brass is everywhere.
  3. I agree. Baer makes a great 1911 and I am very happy with both of mine.
  4. Welcome aboard. Training and competition will definitely improve your skills.
  5. Sorry, I never followed back up to see the responses. I own two 550's and my wife just bought me a 650 with the case feeder. I guess I was slacking a little becasue she said that I need to keep her loaded up as well.
  6. I was just going to ask the same thing. The little nut fell off my Kimber sight at the last match.
  7. Congrats on your EMP, sweet little pistol. My wife had the 9mm and it ran fine for about 200 rounds then started having light primer strikes. Sent it back to Springfield and they turned it around pronto. Seemed to run fine for a while and then more issues. Whenever I shot the gun it would run fine but in her hands we would get the occasional stovepipe or light strike. We think that limp wristing may have been the issue but she has a pretty good grip and shoots thumbs forward. She ended up selling it for what she paid and fully divulged as to why. She now carries a Dan Wesson CBOB in 45ACP and it runs awesome for her. Total round count this year has exceeded 1200 using Tripp mags and has not had a single hiccup. 45ACP is a little stout for her but she loves it and refuses to discuss the alloy framed 4.25" gun in 9mm that I have my eye on.
  8. I have used my M&P40 for competition and it has performed really well. Accuracy is good, even with lead bullets, and reliability has been as good as any other gun it goes up against.
  9. I would consider Lee as hobby grade and Dillon or Hornady as professional grade. If you are just playing around loading a couple thousand rounds a year then you are probably going to do fine with a Lee but I can tell you that I have two friends that bought Loadmasters because they thought it would save them money and now they own Dillon 650's. Both of them cannot believe the difference in how well the Dillon runs compared to the Lee.
  10. I am very happy with my 650 but have only looked at the LNL. The Dillon seems to have a nicer fit and finish than the LNL, and customer service from both organizations is top notch.
  11. Interesting thoughts. I have stayed with the same gun platform for the last five years and see myself improving every year with it. There are guys that I shoot with that when I first got serious about competition could easily beat me but now I have surpassed them. I believe one of the reasons is that they change guns almost every year.
  12. That's the nice thing about Wilson and Tripp mags....pop the basepad off and brush away. R, CMC Power Mags have the same capability.
  13. Cool little carbine. I wonder how well Ramshot Silhouette would work. I use it in 9mm and 40 loads and like that it has a flash suppressant. I tried it in 45ACP one time for a hot pin load and it worked really well but I never chrono'd it. From the datasheet Silhouette 5" BBL 230 SIE FMJ Start 7.3 868 FPS Max 8.1 964 FPS 1.250 OAL
  14. Because CorEy shoots one! I just started playing around with building one because brass is everywhere and bullets are cheaper.
  15. I have lurked around here for the last five years and finally tried a local USPSA match last month. It was a good time and a great way to get more trigger time. I am a long time shooter and reload all my ammo on Dillon presses. I also volunteer as a range officer at my local range and assist at the defensive pistol classes. Most of the shooting/competing/training I do is with my concealed carry pistol so that I can improve my skills with it. My goal is to become a better shooter and there is quite a bit of good information here to help me do that.
