  1. Dave,

I hate that for you, too, man. You are welcome to come up here to DFW and use one of the practice ranges I go to, if you want to take a long weekend and just get in plenty of practice. We could always use photographers in Dallas, you know!

  2. My .02--

Sights: I like Heinie (add fiber front if you want one from Dawson too)

Stock Glock sights suck. That is the main weakpoint of the gun, otherwise, doesn't need much.

Grip tape: Eric Wesselman's TruGrip grip tape is the best, hands down.

I know a lot of people jazz up the trigger, but mine is stock and I don't really feel that it holds me back. Dryfire, dryfire, dryfire. :)

    Good luck!

  3. There are a couple of people in our local area (DFW, TX) that are shooting the G19...... and if I remember correctly, they are at least a "B" if not higher.

I started out with one, too.....just have big hands and got too much slide bite with the 19, so switched to a 34/35.

  4. Both are good fun and trigger time......just slightly different rules.

Main differences-IDPA will require cover garment, and the way to shoot the course of fire is pre-determined and described at the beginning of each stage... you also cannot drop a partially loaded mag without recieving a penalty.. IDPA round counts are usually slightly less, as well. USPSA tends to be more free style, overall. Try both, enjoy both........ I was shooting both weekly until recently, when I decided to focus on my USPSA shooting only. Remember, if it has a clipboard and a timer, it's a game. :)

  5. Sportsmans Warehouse........ Lewisville. They've got plenty. :)

If you want to try some out, and they ARE sold out (doubtful), I've got about a little less than half of a 1lb. jug that you are welcome to have and play with.

  6. Wife and I just completed TX CHL course over the 4th of July weekend. You have to be a resident of TX for 6 months minimum before you can apply. Now we are waiting the 12 stinking weeks to actually get through the background check, processing and receive our CHLs. We cannot legally carry until then.

That sucks, and I feel your pain. I did want to mention, however, that the 6 month residency requirement in the state has been superceded by new law. Once you have established residence, you may apply immediately. ( I was here 30+ days and started my process )

Good luck on going out to the range and blowing off some steam. I hope they catch those #$$ that did it, too.

  7. Patty and I were fortunate enough to be there while it was being filmed, and spent a little time with BJ and Tim. It was quite the shooting display, needless to say. Good luck to BJ. :)

  8. I would indeed like to bring it back, in some form or fashion. I am going to start looking into what it would take to make it a reality. I also happen to know someone who has put on a big match or two who can provide additional insight(hint, hint, Doubletap Championship.....paging scorch :) ) and maybe explore the possibilities.

  9. I'm interested in finding out what steps are involved for planning/setting up/coordinating a 'big' match. Prob a Level II match, I'd think..... I've got a crazy idea that I'd like to put one together that's been missing for a while, (some of you Texans may know what match needs to come back into existence!) but since I'm a total newbie to this sort of thing, I figured I'd ask beforehand if this was plain out crazy or if it was doable?

I'm thinking something like 7 or 8 stages, all one day......... prize table, etc.

That also brings up prizes...... how is that done? Call and beg? Ask for donations? Buy some with entry fee money?

I'm at least thinking 6 months out, if that helps. Any and all details VERY appreciated.

    I love this sport!

    Mike
