  1. Yeah...the one where you started at one end, ran backwards, hit port in middle, and then finished on other side. No problems on the one where we laid the markers down for the 180 on our squad...just one of those unfortunate times when the shooters feet worked faster than the brain. I know a lot of us don't practice moving backwards, and this is an example of why it isn't a bad idea to add it to your routine.

  2. I enjoy RO'ing.......kinda feels like giving back a little bit to the sport.

I find it fun, since I get to interact with all the shooters and such...

It just sucked today when I had to do the DQ action. I appreciate any and all people who help--setup, tear down, scorekeep, etc.

  3. If money is not an object, get a Dawson tuned Edge. You won't be sorry.

I have both, actually......and their is an obvious difference between the two in many ways. If you are used to shooting a 1911 anyway, the 2011 is a no brainer.... of course, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong. :)

  4. I've shot several Glocks with it installed. It's a nice trigger, but for the same money, I'd go with the Vanek. Just personal preference, but I like it better--not as 'mushy'.

  5. Keith,

If you want to stay in Production, I'd recommend snagging up a CZ-- Matt Mink/Angus could trick it out pretty nicely, and you wouldn't have a ton of cash invested in it. You know you are always welcome to shoot one of my Glocks...but I know the story there. :)

  6. The beauty of the book is that at each level you progress, the material will become clearer. You've heard the adage: when the student is ready, the teacher will appear....... that's the way the book works. Skim it, read it, re-read it......... repeat as necessary. :)

  7. Here is what I found......

    Sad news.

    Friends,

"At the request of the family it is my sad duty to report the passing of

our founder, Jeff Cooper. Jeff died peacefully at home this afternoon

while being cared for by his wife Janelle and daughter Lindy.

There will be a private internment at Gunsite by invitation, with a

public memorial service at the Whittington Center at a date to be

    announced.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

    A moment of silence.........

  8. All I need is a little encouragement from time to time, something to show I'm getting better. I try hard to do well on classifiers, even though it'll line me up against tougher competition. Moving up in class means I'm getting better. Beating higher classed shooters means I'm getting better. Getting prizes is nice, but if that's what I'm after, it'd be easier on the ego and wallet to just go buy them. I'll still go to every match I can make, no matter how you hand out the goodies. The sport is about the journey of improvement. The rest is just window dressing.

+1. That works for me. Prizes are nice, but not too important to me. It's more about the tracking of self improvement. I've been shooting this now for a year and a half..... and yeah, I started at "D". I'm real close to making "B", and find it's awesome to be able to track improvements, spend time with friends, and have a grand ol' time.
