  1. BOTH of them build quality guns, and you won't be sorry either way. You'll have to walk a fine line here because forum rules state no vendor bashing---even though that's not the intent, it could be misconstrued that way. I'm fortunate enough to have handled both, and they are indeed nice. For me, Bob & Brazos is local, so if I have a problem--drop in the car and drive is better than mail, but that said, I may have Dan build me a "spare" when I get extra cash. Wifey is currently shooting a Brazos, and loves it. Also, I've talked to both Bob and Chuck/Dan and they are both awesome to deal with.

Shoot both, and buy which YOU like better........ as Xre said, price isn't a good indicator. Good luck.

  2. I went back and grabbed the camera and took some new pics, just for comparison. It does look like the original ones were kinda at a weird angle or else my grip has gotten better since those were taken.

Nice Open gun too, huh?  Wifey won't let me keep it though.

  3. Wow, I had forgotten about this--- had the ejector cut at a different angle, and the problem was all fixed. I also have gotten a little more used to 1911/2011 frames from the Glock transition now, too. (Even though I've now gone back to plastic, in the form of my M&P!) :)

  4. Just an addition to my earlier post--- I tried several loads to get away from smoke, absolutely HATED Titegroup/Precision combo--felt like a mosquito fogger. Tired the Clays load I listed, some WST, some 231, etc.....For my money, VV n320 and a 180 JHP bullet are the LEAST smokey combination I have found, after a bunch of experimenting.

  5. I have some load data at home, but most people are going to chime in and tell you Clays is not a good choice for .40..........

Edit: had spreadsheet here at work, too.

Here is the data using a 180, so you could back it down slightly.

    4.4G Clays 180 MG JHP

    936.1

    937.9

    931.7

    935.2333333 168.342

    STI Edge, loaded to 1.200................

Just FYI, I don't use this load.......... but I have shot it and it was ok. I chose to go with VV n320, a much safer load. :)

  6. Good deal. I'll just go with what I've got. I have some mags on the way (thanks!) and a holster.......so after Area 4, I think it's back to Production for a while for me. :)

    -Mike

Good to hear you'll be back playing production Mike -

Let's see if a year's worth of shooting Limited did me any good. LOL

  7. You may want to check w/ Glock on cost of replacement frame, too. It's tough to find any microscopic cracks that may have happened....... it won't be covered under warranty, but they WILL give you a really good price on replacement.

I hate to ask, but what load data were you testing that caused this? Only ones I've ever seen are double-charged or squib/full charge.

  8. 21.6 Aftermarket grips which match the profile of the OFM standard for

the approved handgun and/or the application of grip tape or rubber

sleeves is permitted. Modifications to grips, other than previously

mentioned, not allowed, such as grooves cut to reach mag release

    or size reduction.

    Looks ok to me.
