  1. So I shot a match this weekend with my buddies at Texarkana-- when all was said and done, Odie was nice enough to let me shoot his wheelie for a few rounds. Thanks again Odie, by the way! Believe it or not, I can't recall ever shooting a wheelie before this...........

Observations: Man, that wheelie was kinda fun, in a masochistic kind of way. :P

Second, you find out that you are a trigger slapper in a hurry. I get away with it on my Open gun, but I sure could tell it on the wheelie. You HAVE to have good trigger discipline to hit anything, and I think I've been getting sloppy.

I'm almost half tempted to buy me one of those contraptions and shoot it for a bit-- good stuff.

Anyway, mainly me rambling to myself, but I figured I'd share.

  2. Yeah, this has been discussed quite a few times, but I can't for the life of me tell you the correct search criteria.

What I do right now is put a piece of tape on my glasses over the non-dominant eye to clear up the double vision.

Gradually, you'll be able to go to smaller and smaller pieces of tape, and then eventually none at all. ( I haven't gotten that far yet, but tape and both eyes open is much better than closing an eye, at least in my experience.) You may find that it isn't worth the hassle, and stick with what works for you, even if that is closing an eye........but don't be afraid to experiment.

  3. Get thee to an ortho doc. I hurt my shoulder back in June, thought it was rotator cuff-was not; ended up being a bad case of tendonitis that mimicked some of the same syptoms, and it was caused by overuse. It took ice, some rehab, and moving pretty gingerly for about 12 weeks before it was completely back to normal, but that's a hell of a lot better than the 6+ MONTHS minimum of shoulder surgery. Get it checked out, and then update the verdict. Best of luck to you!

  4. 9 x 23 brass will say "9 x 23", "9 supercomp", and sometimes "9 x 23 Winchester"......and maybe even a couple others that I can't think of...... first open gun I bought my wife was in this caliber. Just FYI, if you haven't decided to do it yet, save yourself some headache and go with 38 super. Cheaper, MUCH easier to find brass, and much more tried and true recipes for various loads. There really isn't one particular comp that is better than another, all in all.... I like the EGW comps and the Brazos comps. ( I have two guns with the EGW, and one with the Brazos). The Dawson comps are nice, too, so it's gonna be personal preference. I'd say build a 5" gun w/ and EGW comp as a starting point, and then you have a base to tweak from there. That's just my .02, of course...........

  5. I got to play with this gun a little this past Sunday. Very light and easy to move around. It's substantially lighter than my Open blaster..... and cool looking too!! I prefer the heavier gun, but if I was wanting one lighter, I'd certainly say these are definitely worth considering. :) Lee had that Cheshire cat grin going the whole day.

  6. If you cover the front of the lens on the C-more (or any dot sight) your dominate eye can no longer see the target but will still see the dot. The non-dominate eye can see the target but not the dot. If you are using both eyes, with a sight focus on the target (opposite of iron sights, which should be focused on the front sight), your persistence of vision will see the dot superimposed on the target. Great way to force you to use a target focus with a dot gun becasue if you use a sight focus you will loose the target.

Thanks. I sorta recall it was something like that, and what I think I need to do, but I have slept since then...so the reminder is appreciated.

  7. Jane,

What days/time does the camp run? We have a USPSA match in Tyler, TX on Sunday mid-day.....if your class is done, come over (it's roughly an hour-ish or so) and play!! Best of luck in the class, too!!
