    Match Fees

Gun Geek: We started last year and had the same questions. Here is what I decided on. It is nice to have a low entry fee but if you have no money for props, targets, and range up keep what good is a low fee? We already have a large Gun Club so the expenses of shooting IDPA came from the general fund but I had to be able to make enough money to keep it going. We charge 15.00 for a club member and 20.00 for a nonclub member. We have made little money for the club but we make enough to keep going and buy new stands, props, and what ever else we need along the way.
  2. Power factor also is effected by the temp. outside. You can loose 50 to 100 fps in the winter. If you have a load that is close but does make it when it is 90 outside it will proably not make it when it is 30. We do not chrono at our club matches. I figure if you have to win bad enough to shoot under power factor you really did not win anyway.
  3. I have Fiber optic sights on both my IDPA guns. (CDP and ESP) They really allow you pick the front sight up faster. I installed them both myself in a matter of minutes. Most of the people who have shot either pistol seem to really like them. They came from Dawson Precision
  4. Try replacing the springs. I had some wilson mags that did that with the feeding. The last couple would go nose down in my STI Trojan .45. I replaced the springs and there has not been a problem since. I don't know about the springing feeling in the feed lips but if they were bent, or bulged they would still be rigid.
  5. Rhino that is proably true. Sad but true.
  6. It fits all 1911's I have them on about 5 different ones. STI (2), Kimber, Springfield, and Auto-Ordance This is from there website:Our Custom Magazine Well provides a large beveled opening for super-fast magazine changes without adding unnecessary bulk to your pistol. These magazine wells are manufactured from solid steel to provide a durable and attractive addition to your firearm. This is the same magazine well we use on many of our top-selling pistols. The Custom Magazine Well attaches to the grip screw bushings and is held in place by the grip panels. No frame modification is required; however, slight modification to the grip panel is required unless relieved grips are used. I like it because it works and I did not have to modify my pistol. Hope this helps.
  7. I use a Wilson Combat magwell in CDP and ESP. You cannot really tell it is on either STI compared to the Dawson Magwell on my Para (my Para is not IDPA legal ). It does give me a smoother reload in IDPA in my opinion. With the Wilson you do not have to modify the gun because it slips under the grips. I drimmeled the back of the grips so they fit like they are supposed to.
  8. I got my 9x19 in the Trojan. The $$ kept me from the Eagle. I started out in CDP and use a Trojan .45 so I figured the Trojan 9mm would work with all my equipment. I plan on shooting two guns in some matches.
  9. No Shock Buff. I have never tried them. Thanks for the info.
  10. It is not a matter of wanting to use them they are getting weak. Or so it seams. I am having a few Mag problems and all the ones I have have been used and used....... I use a 18 lb recoil spring and some times my gun does not strip off the first round (STI 45) at closer inspection it looks like the spring is getting weak and letting the front of the round be pushed down instead of holding it up so it can be chambered. I figured it was the best place to start since this problem just started.
  11. I use 8rd Wilson's in My CDP One in the gun, two on the belt and a barney is the rule. I have shot at matches where you needed to have a couple of extra's in your bag. Once you entered a area with two or three stages in it you went "Hot" and shot all the stages one after the other then got the "unload and show clear" .
  12. Does Wolff make a mag spring for Wilson Mags? Or Is there one for another type of mag that will work?

    Tac Sequence

We do this often also. Especially in house type scenarios. I always tell my group in this case to make sure they use cover, slice the pie and make reloads where they need to as long as they use cover. I like to see people think and enjoy the different views on a stage. We still do some that are shoot here, reload there but we are using less and less. It makes people read the rule book Back on subject: If the COF description does not specifie tac sequence then you do not have to use it.
  14. In IDPA they consider loaded and ready to go in ESP, SSP: 10 plus one on the tube and CDP: 8 plus on in the tube. Most people carry a spare mag(not in a pouch but in a poicket) for the purpose of topping off before a stage.
  15. I shoot a STI Trojan 5" .45 ACP in IDPA. Just has to fall under the rules as Team Sand Captain listed.
  16. The Super Ghost Holster is listed on the ipsc.org website for sale. It is also availble in different colors. I wanted to send an email because I want one in red and I got an error page. Does anyone know where I can find one some where else? ghostholster.com does not show the Super Ghost Holster. thanks
  17. I use RCBS dies and if you cut the resizing die down a little bit on the end it will resize the whole case. I had a problem mostly in .45 with match barrels not going all the way into the chamber. I also added a Lee carbide resizer and crimp die on the last hole in the old 550. It works as a crimp die and resizes the case with the bullet in it. I makes a really nice finish. I have shot 5000 rounds with it and not a problem with rounds that won't chamber since.
  18. I shoot lead in everything (No Glocks Here). It is cheap . I have had no problems.
  19. I want to make it fun and do not want it to be over to quickly either what is the average you usally shoot?

    Mag Question

It still does not say that you can’t use mags of different capacity during a match. If you have a 10 round mag and two 7 round mags there is no rule to say you cannot use all three. All you have said you cannot use illegal equipment to gain an unfair advantage. Where does it say that using a 7 round mag and two 8 round mags is against the rules.
