  1. Hi Ya, one of my steel madness competition guns is my Colt Gold Cup; however sometimes it goes down, then I have to change rigs and shoot one of my 9mm's. so now that I need something else for carry also; I am thinking about having a commander style as a back up for comp and as useful when roaming the great outdoors. same mags, same holster, same .45ACP. is that commander size workable for tactical competition? also at question is whether it should be steel or alloy? my feeling is steel. what say you? much obliged, Max
  2. HI Ya Guys, I just spent 4 hours getting the lead out of my barrel. CZ 75B SA. I have been shooting 147gn moly coated lead for steel competition; maybe 2,000 rounds since I acquired the gun. I use 124gn plated in the indoor range for practice. Well anyway I wasn't noticing the buildup of lead until the accuracy dropped off. That despite using a bronze brush after every session or so. So is there anything unique about CZ barrels that allows this? My colt 1911 nor my S'field XD does not have the same problem. any clues, insights, wise cracks, tips, accepted? much obliged, Max
  3. exile machine works in Texas.
  4. HI Ya, I dont want to seem any more ignorant than usual; however the only question that is bad/dumb is the one that isnt spoken; since when cant i reload on the move? Our Steel Madness doesnt really qualify as a rule laden match so no one has ever DQ'd this. What do you say?
  5. Guys, this makes me laugh when O'bamanation began we used whatever we could find so long as it fit. Just; keep your powder dry!
  6. Guys, Yes that is it. And I do shoot at Raahagues, and it is fun. And I will try USPSA one of these days; that's the one with JJ in charge, right?
  7. I recently bought a CZ75B SA, and shot it at a Steel Match; now our steel matches are loose, we have 6 berms and 26 steel targets each, sort of, always arranged diff. Its Tactical but not full of rules, stay safe is mostly it. Maybe it's IDPA or some such So I got this new gun, and it has a creeepy trigger. My gunny will take it out and I will get him a competition hammer so he doesnt have to stone or file it down. But how far can I go and still consider it 'stock' or 'factory' for the classifications? We have three; stock, limited, and open. Much obliged, Max
  8. HI ya Guys, I shot my first competition with my new CZ75 SA, it went well; I am not used to using a safety though, so it slowed me down. I have been shooting a Springfield XD9 which does not have a manual safety. Not very fast but accurate enough just out of the box, maybe I wont do anything to it??
  9. HI Ya Nasty, I am sorry to see no one took you up on advice. Also sorry I dont know. I have a CR WSM holster I have been using on my Springfield XD9 Tactical and I just bought a CZ75B SA and was wondering if I could adapt it. Let me explain; around here we have thingie called a DROS whereby the Dealer extracts a few dollars and keeps your gun in quaranteen for 10 days to see if any law enforcement people dont want you to have it. It's not contagious yet only The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia and some others has it. I digress. So I just bought a Blade-Tech for the CZ, which I dont have either, as it takes weeks for them to make it. Anyway I find that Blade-Tech works as well as CR for my competitions. Oh I dont do IPSIC but rather a modified Steel Madness where we score the same but have fewer rules on classification. Finally; i must say I am not going to win the match overal no matter what holster as i am for example at 450 sec and the match is won at under 200. In my class of limited and Senior I sometimes place well. so there you have it. I hope I have kept the thread alive enough for someone intellegent can answer you. Keep your powder dry, Max
  10. call blade-tech also use nail polish or thread lock when you do get them back in. Keep your powder dry, Max
  11. HI Ya, I bought a slightly used CZ 75B SA locally; its in Quarantine (DROS)right now. Just in time for B'day. I did get to shoot 100 rounds; sweet just the way it is. My other competition gun is a XD9 Tactical and is with Springfield at the moment. As soon as I get this one out of DROS I will take it with to a match. The mag holders for the XD fit, I just need to borrow a holster, or maybe I can use one of my XD's. I dont know until I get it home. Much obliged to all for the encouragement, Max It
  12. HI Ya, I shoot Steel Madness at raahagues'

    are you there too?

There is a local shop to do the springfield work. And I have been looking at the m & P also. Bummed about the lack of a 5" model.

Let me know if you show up on Sundays,

    Jeff

  13. Lawboy, oh boy! I love the encouragement. i Think I will stay with my xd9 until i can find and build a shadow as you suggest. i didnt know that i can change the da/sa could be changed.
  14. Great, the prob is that it is not legal in CA and czcustom doesnt have any .
  15. Hi Ya, Well its my b'day soon. And I've had it with new t shirts and after shave; so i told wifey and kids it s a gun this year. I shoot steel madness (like steel challenge I guess). And I currently use a xd9-tac with Dawson fibre optics and a smooot trigger job and 15 rounders. So I want a steel pistol, you know steel shooting, steel pistol PUN. However I am in the peoples republic of California; so Shadow is out.CZ custom offered me a Tac Sport model; a bit costly, and a fatter grip and diff mags which are also costly compared to standard 75's. mostly I am not a large hand fellow and would prefer a smaller grip. Is there a model for me?
  16. HI, How about Steve's pages : http://www.stevespages.com/page7b.htm

HI Al: I shoot Springfield XD9. I have resized the lips on some other mags to fit by using a needle nose Vise Grip pliers to great success. Yes it might mar the finish but 14,000 rounds thru hasnt suffered any problems. I hope this helps. I am checking out he CZ's as a upgraded gun. Any encouragement; I am looking at a 75TS. Max
  18. Hey, I have only one eye now; injury when 10 years old. Hombre is scaring me. I shoot steel matchs. What other than polycarbonate glasses do I need? much obliged, Max
  19. HI Ya Matt, you know I have no cash shortage however i have spent so much time makeing something out of nothing that now I can make almost anything out of little. I sew with one of those stichers sold by 'Cheaper than..." and I put a D ring on any bag, now its 'Cal legal' in my trunk. So I agree with you, Keep your powder dry! Max
  20. HI Ya Gunfighter, What gun? My xd9-tac wouldnt take that long a bullet. much obliged,
  21. Guys, I just read the BBI link; he recommends less than the hottest powder. Good idea as both his and Bear Creek are coated, whether it is moly or some other stuff my gunsmith says it is messy to the barrel. He prefers jacketed. I am still fighting to get an accurate load. All of this is teaching me something but I am still undecided. Today I am loading some Red Dot to try out, bullseye and wSF next. I want to stay under 1000fps but be accurate at 35 yards.
  22. Hi Ya Gunfighter, kinda enigmatic 'Riverside'. My price sheet gleaned from calguns.net forum says Waterford CA but maybe you are referring to a dealer in Riverside? Is that it? much obliged, Max
  23. HI Ya, Bear Creek is a guy in Northern Cal and he has many distributors; i know at least two right in my area. Why dont you list your area, someone will set you up. The Moly's are fine, they do produce a bit of fouling in my barrel but nothing i cant clean up. Better than my own cast 147's. keep your powder dry, Max
  24. I love my small bug out bag. I looked into getting the larger version but decided the small held as much as I cared to tote. I use it as my range bag, USPSA match bag with a folding stool, and for 3-Gun sitting on top of a milk crate that is on a folding wheeled luggage cart. It works great, is tough, good looking, and cheap enough to buy more than one for different set-ups. They are so cheap I bought another one but just use my first one and swap the contents out. http://www.lapolicegear.com/tabaoutbag.html Hey Chevy, that's great if you live in a state that allows it. Here in LaLa land we must lock our guns in the range bag, in our trunk. The LaLa Police of course can go hot. Much obliged, Max
  25. HI Ming, I just ordered one from EGW. Although their website said they were out I called. Also I bought a 9mm reloading die that is undersized to take care of the bulged 9mm problem in my competition XD tactical.
