  1. It would be nice if those of us already with 930s could order the chrome plated tube and valve as parts. I would think the carbon buildup would be reduced and much easier to clean off. It sounds like Mossberg has been paying attention. This will help many people get into multigun that didn't or couldn't before.

  2. Toro or John Deere?

Toro or even better their affiliate Exmark

So, being there were no takers on the mower.

Ride a real bike or and exercise bike?

    Real Bike

Ride on the street or trails?

  3. joedodge, if you are talking about the "chameleon ears" lab molds hurting and you've had them less than 60 days tell the guy that did your molds and he should be able to get EAR to adjust them. They shouldn't make your ears ache to the point you quit wearing them.

To answer your question about life on the instamolds....they will last a very long time (10 yrs??) if kept clean. If they do quit fitting, like Ronnie J mentioned, you can find someone who is making them and ask to have them re-dipped in the sealer. This will restore their smooth finish and add some size to restore the fit also .

  4. I can't say I have any experience with this issue or one like it...sorry. That green stuff isn't the primer compound as suggested on your blog. It's actually a wax of sorts intended to keep the primer compound in the cup. I would guess if it made it's way through the flash hole and coated the case walls it got washed there. How did the powder look when you pulled the bullet? any signs of water damage?

  5. I have had a PF9 for a little over two years and I practice drawing from my carry holsters (1 IWB 1 OWB) and shooting a metric USPSA target from 5 to 15 yds every time I go to the range to practice. I've shot in the neighborhood of 150 factory defense loads through it and probably 500-600 rounds of my minor PF match ammo. Since the frame rails are aluminum they can get ruined very quickly if not properly lubed. I try to clean mine once a month and keep medium Slide-Glide on the rails. They do show wear, but not enough to effect accuracy. In fact the wear showed up in the first 100 rds and hasn't progressed since.

    **back on topic**

To the OP, I had issues with Precision moly bullets preventing it closing into battery, but all jacketed loads have worked fine. Most of my load's OAL run about 1.125 to 1.135.

  6. After this weekend's match which my brother shot with me I was considering shooting on a different squad than him from now on. I always seem to do much worse when competing with him than when not. I guess he's the added stress that gets me over-analyzing. No. I know he's the added stress. I usually don't do much discussing stage plan with anyone else and just continually refine my attack plan until it's my time to shoot. When he's there we always get into this back and forth about every stage. His ideas get all mixed up with mine and what small measure of autopilot I have at the beep when he's not there is completely gone.

I guess trying to learn new ideas during a match gives me "paralysis by analysis".

  7. It makes a difference knowing that your are wanting a .40 S&W and not the much more commonly referenced M&P Pro 9mm.

However, my answer is worth exactly what you paid for it. I would bet that S&W simply underestimated the demand for their M&P Pro in .40 S&W.

  8. I did a search but only came up with what people use em for, i.e flotation devices, used primer catcher, etc.

Anyone here reuses them and puts different powder in them than what's labeled on the bottle? Given that you do put a post-it note or masking tape around the original label and mark what's inside the bottle?

I have some empty 1lb bottles of IMR 700X and was thinking of putting TG in them. Good or bad idea?

(Disclaimer) According to the reloading manuals....Bad Idea.

(Personally) I use empty 1lb bottles wrapped in masking tape and labeled with magic marker for TG instead of dealing with the big jugs to fill my press.

I also use them (after pulling the labels off) to transport match ammo. They are the perfect size for one match worth of 9mm plus a bit extra for re-shoots and takes up less space than a bullet box.

  9. A correct '43 GI 1911A1. It wasn't as-issued since at some point it had been parked, but otherwise everything was right. It went to a true collector and finished his collection of 1943 issued US small arms. I regret it every time I think about it. The only consolation is that there isn't anyone more deserving to receive it. The gentleman had recently retired from teaching helicopter pilots at Ft. Rucker, and has a long service history including combat flight in Vietnam. He was like a kid with a new toy when I finally gave in and let him take it off my hands.

  10. Are you using an RCBS small base X-die?

The X-die has a mandrel on the expander/depriming stem that is supposed to stop the cases from growing in length once they are trimmed and the die is set. There is a procedure you must follow to get that die to work correctly.

Since your brass isn't trimmed to a uniform length, the longer cases could be deformed (like the double bump) if the stem is screwed into the die. As far as the transition from shoulder to neck .... I would verify first that the die body is screwed far enough in.

  11. Finally! This are the specs on the new gun we are going to be releasing.

Black Composite Stock – Matte Blue Finish

24" Vent Rib Barrel w/ NO PORTING

Choked barrel to include 3 choke tubes: I.C., Mod., Full.

Front Green Fiber Optic Sight – No mid-bead

9 Round magazine tube w/Barrel clamp (+1 for total of 10 round capacity)

Bolt release button to be drilled and Nordic Bolt Release button added

Bottom loading port will be rounded for easier/faster loading

Since I know this will come up after this model is released I'll go ahead and ask now. Will we be able to order the drilled bolt release button to install on our 930s that came without it? If that sounds unlikely to you Edna, would you mind suggesting that it be made available? I know I will try to order one the second they release a gun with it.

  12. Thanks everyone! I live in the Birmingham area during the summer, and I usually go to Steel City in Hoover, or FOP in Pleasant Grove, with friends whenever I can make it. Looking forward to start shooting more competitions: just need to look into getting my own rig (I borrowed a friend's last weekend). I won't be able to make it to Anniston this weekend, but hopefully can go somewhere next weekend!

The next weekend will be in Argo at Heritage.Rifle and Pistol Club. There may be another one somewhere, but that is the closest.
