  1. I had a long response to all of the criticisms. Then I deleted it.

Basically, If you want to shoot at a full treatment level two match, shoot in the primary match. Friday exists for the staff/ROs to be able to compete. Get in Sat-Sun on time or just don't shoot it. Overflow slots are a courtesy granted by the MD's. Don't bite the hand that feeds. Especially, as Ken points out, because they are VOLUNTEERS!

Maybe even try working a match or two. Hard work tends to change anyone's perception. I had a great time shooting Friday. After all, I was in great company, making noise and not at work. I even had a good time running shooters Sat-Sun. Hope we were professional and consistent enough to pass without getting into range nazi territory...

  2. I was going to get on of these, but the rail moves? Is this just 49ers fan handguard or everyones? My samson doesnt move at all

My 17" AP handguard does deflect with pressure AND it returns when the pressure is removed.

  3. The muzzle blast, high operating pressures and expense of Open are not for me.

This is a completely bogus argument, unless you are competing at the grandmaster level.

Whatever gear you choose to run, you will be classified, and competing with others at your performance level.

I think you misunderstood the statement you quoted? Or quoted the wrong sentence?

I think he is saying that if he wants to shoot an M&P w/optic in Open then he's not at a disadvanage because he will classify and shoot against similar scoring competitors. However, that is assuming he never has shot open w/ a specalized open gun and is possibly classified above his skill level using the M&P. Doesn't need to be GM classification to have him competing against higher scoring shooters.

  4. I would be surprised if it happened but S&W may have sent you a barrel that missed the step in production where the throat was cut. Have you inspected the start of the lands to see if they have been tapered at all? If that's the case, a picture and phone call may get a new barrel sent. My M&P has chambered most of the bullets you've mentioned @ 1.14-1.16.

Of course you could just stay the course and cut the throat as you have planned.

  5. Thanks guys! Nothing is final yet. They just told me to start considering it and they will put together a relocation package / offer. It would be a huge move for me personally and professionally. I just wanted to check on the important things first before giving it any real thought. As long as I can shoot on the weekends I know I'd be OK. Now to consider if I want to leave family and figure out how to care for my daughter during the summer without family to help.

    Thanks again...

  6. I've recently switched from a Titan to the Seekins comp. It feels smoother and has considerably less felt percussion for the shooter and especially for anyone on a bench near you and ROs.

It is also less than half the weight.

  7. One more great match by the Rockcastle team. Nick, Nate, Gary, Trapr, Dale and all the stats ladies, great job. A special thanks is in order for how well this group of folks treats their volunteer ROs. My belly stayed full and and I had a place to sleep for free. Special thanks to Hear-Pro for the rockin' hearing protection. Not only the electronics I used for shooting and ROing but especially for the solid plugs I used to sleep in the same room with Chainsaw Harris.

If you haven't been to this match, do your best to make it next year. Without a doubt you will meet some of the best folks in the shooting sports.
