  1. Well the wife & I took care of cooking last state match - while one gent was SOing who was not a certified SO - I really don't care, for the most part I do not like most of the people at that range, its close is the ONLY reason we go. The SO's at state matches have the advantage w/o question of being in on each stage prior to shooting, often actually in on the planning stages, while regular shooters do not have the luxury of getting a mindset, at least thats how things are done here from what I have been involved in, thats an advantage for SO's over the regular shooters. Do I think the BJ buddy system comes into play, it does to some extent, SO's should not shoot a match they help setup in all fairness to folks who do not have first hand knowledge of each CoF. just an opinion, we shoot for practice & have no interest in a paper prize.
  2. Remington 1100 / 1187 for the budget, my 3 kids all wound up with Citori's shooting in the local 4H club skeet & trap. Sammy is almost 5ft & about 100lbs she beats most of the boys in trap with a stock citori 12ga 28in inv+ mod/mod avg 20+ birds out of 25 everytime. had to post a picture, dad sure is proud of her, she is such a firecracker
  3. Wife has us scheduled in for Sunday at PCSC pine city ny, she will shoot CDP & ESR for me with a new shooting iron, if the weather holds out, which it has not been good this whole season
  4. I used one at a state match, very similar situation w/ a N frame "just the trigger" was barely covered & nobody griped. The wife & boys use a similar IDPA legal holster Galco yaqui w/ their auto's. Looking for a better holster myself for idpa.
  5. Not sure this will help, but the older hard drives from PC's used a set of magnets strong enough to hold up a N frame w/o a problem - actually lift one to it - they are small but very strong be careful playing with them. any PC recycler would be able to help you out.
  6. You may be looking at 2 - 2.5 month wait on a S&W return, I always have at least one revolver at S&W for barrel / cylinder work or it feels that way. one there now arrived the 5th & maybe it will be checked in this week? Buy the trigger from Brownells / Midway and save the wait, S&W may not warranty it being tampered with.
  7. I would love to shoot this with my two teenage boys - any chance of an opening? I need check the Calender as IDPA NY State Champ match is around that date & we are expected to help. No restrictions of teenage boys for this event?
  8. after buying many holsters, the wife & I agree we like the Galco yaqui for IDPA, Steel & 3 gun - drop the ruger 22 in the same holster the 1911's fit regardless of barrel length, makes for good practice. It was tough getting the wife to step up to the plate for the first time, but after seeing me shoot good guys, shoot through good guys to trip a swinger & a host of other "funny COF errors" she overcame the fear of fumble & being laughed at as long as you have fun it can't be all bad is my philosophy.
  9. Wife & I ran a qualifier yesterday for a warm up this season after winter hibernation - we ran Ruger 22's had a wonderful time, sun was bright & warm here in the North East for Feb. Next weekend we will run a legit qualifier CDP class & see how well we do, the wife & I have alot fun which we deem most important. Suggestion take your wife to shoot also so she can have fun as well, besides it makes it easier spending $$ on things when she benefits too
  10. I think patents can be renewed prior to date of expiring to protect it. The wife & I been trying to decide which to buy for a SS Gold Cup, Kimber SS Flat are backordered, have not called Colt and the S&A looks identical to what Colt uses on the Special Combat Govt which she really likes, I am ASSuming Colt gets them from S&A for the custom shop guns? LOL must get one this week as we shoot a qualifier this Sat
  11. I picked up some extremely useful information on the 1100 carrier here - Big Thanks Wife & I shoot NY / Pa & see alot of helpful reading material here
