  1. Did a little testing last week. Shot about 20 rounds each prepped and non prepped. There was no noticeable difference in groups at 100yds. For matches I would still use prepped brass for more confidence with reliability, but practice looks like it works fine.
  2. Looks like they had to make the targets politically correct. Good to see more of this coming to tv
  3. I full length size for AR platforms. For my bolt actions neck size only. I've noticed after trimming cases they stay pretty uniform after firing once or twice. I will test this out when I get a day w/o much wind. If I go from .75 to 1" groups not sure it will really matter in a match.
  4. Has anyone tried comparing prepped brass accuracy to non prepped. As long as case length is within specs, how much will accuracy suffer. I am waiting for a calm day to try this out. My current 5.56 load with prepped brass is about .75". I am going to try loading without trimming and primer pocket cleaning. Let me know if you have tried this.
  5. How much do you guys spend on oil every year that you would rather not use gun oils already prepackaged in handy dispensers. Does mobile 1 actually work better than the leading gun lubes or is it all about saving a couple bucks?
  6. I chose to get into USPSA shooting because it is fun to shoot fast and move. Stages that require placing shots more accurately and shooting slower just dont give you the same adrenaline rush as hosing a fast round. It is fine to have the slower rounds mixed in, but I wouldnt be as addicted to the sport if it was slower paced. As for TS, competitors arent always eliminated on the quality of shooter they are, it has a lot to do with personal opinions from competitors. I can only imagine how many hours of filming are cut out to give us the version of the game they want us to see.
  7. Weve got open shooting on Thurs at the indoor range so I can test out the Win primers. Our temps have been on the cool side for outdoor practice.
  8. I just swapped springs with the Para and tried the pencil test. Same results, STI 2ft, the Para did shoot the pencil 1-2 ft higher with each spring. I also checked primer depth on the unfired rounds with dented primers and they were seated just under flush the same as all the rest. I will load up some Win primers and try that.
  9. I shot a pencil out a little better than 2 feet.
  10. I will give that a try, thanks everyone for the help, should be able to figure it out with all the suggestions. The worst part is I can shoot a hundred rounds or more at my home range and as soon as I'm at a match the problems show up. I'm sure everyone has experienced murphys law.
  11. It seems to have done it under rapid fire.
  12. I have a Para limited gun, would the spring be the same in that one to try it or compare length of FP spring?
  13. I will pick up some Win. primers and try them, that would be the easiest fix. If I replace the FP spring how do I know what weight spring to buy, or isnt that an issue?
  14. Shot a match this weekend and I had about 5 rounds not go off. Primers seem to have a pretty good dent in them. Pulled everything apart during the match and cleaned again, firing pin wasnt very dirty. The gun has about 5k rounds through it, could it be the firing pin spring? Firing pin looks good, no wear. I used Rem primers for these loads, had been using cci primers and had similar results. I will clean everything again, possible a little piece of crud was rubbing on the pin in the small hole. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jason.
  15. My check just cleared yesterday for the match. I didnt think I was going, surprised to see I made it.
  16. I debated the same issue when I was going to purchase an open gun. After reading many threads I decided not to take the chance on a gun not functioning reliably. I'm no top shooter, but there's nothing worse than having problems with a gun malfunction in a match. I didnt see enough of a savings in just 9mm brass, if you figure saving $100 in lost brass over the course of a year.
  17. Is there any place you can buy just the tec loader tubes intstead of the whole kit?
  18. Thanks, I'll check them out. The patent explains why tech loaders are the only ones Ive found.
  19. I'm looking to set up my M2 for open class and I would like to know what speedloader to purchase. I have only seen the tech loaders and an arrendondo system. And I would also like to know a few places to purchase these.
  20. Konus is new to me, I will check them out. Seems the way to go for a inexpensive scope.
  21. Im in the market for a spotting scope for under $400 and was hoping for a little input. I was looking at the Leuopold Wind River but then found a bad review on it. Has anyone compared the Wind River to another scope.
  22. I am using once fired brass, freshly trimmed, full length sized. Tonight after trying a few different powders I finally found a load that shoots about .75 moa. 55gr v-max and a military surplus powder WC844. Gun seems very finicky, shot 3 powders and 2 different bullets tonight, 5 loads were 2moa and 1 good load. Higher magnification may tighten that up a little. I think I will try this powder on a 70gr match that shot 2.5 moa with 2230. I have a couple of DPMS .223's that shoot almost anything 1moa +. Also going to shoot these over the chrony, previous rounds that shot poorly had about a 40fps deviation.
  23. Thanks, I'll wait for my Dillon dies come.
  24. I'm testing loads with front and rear bags and have a burris tactical 1-4 scope. I would be happy with .5 moa, maybe I'm expecting a little much with a 4 power scope.
