  1. A couple of months ago I purchased a POF AR, I have been trying to find a load that I am happy with and havent been able to do that yet. I have a 8" twist barrel, I thought maybe a heavier bullet might be the answer so I tried a 70 gr match hornady and got a 2.6" group at 100 yds. The 50 and 55 gr bullets I have tried have averaged 1.25 up to a 2" group. The federal white box ammo has been compareable to my best handloads. Ive tried 55gr hornady spitzers, v-max, winchester bulk 50 gr., 2230 powder and BLC2. I would like to find a bulk bullet that shoots well, or am I expecting too much.
  2. I just purchased a 38 super and was going to load some rounds, my rcbs dies are for 38 super or 9mm. I ordered a set of dillon dies specifically for 38 super but they havent arrived yet. Is there enought difference between the dies to make a difference, I understand that 9mm is a tapered case and 38 super is a straight wall, so are rcbs dies tapered or straight?
  3. Ive looked at the kits for tuning mags, how much trial and error does it take to master tuning mags?
  4. Just wondering if there is any dependable alternative to the expensive STI mags.
  5. I was shooting a three gun match a couple of weeks ago, and in the middle of a stage my tac star shell holder fell off. I kept going trying not to let it throw my time off too much. When I finished I realized the tac star screw that replaces the factory pin had snapped off. Has anyone else had this problem. Im not sure if I want to put it back on, maybe I had a defective screw/pin. I had this mounted to an M2 and shoot light loads so recoil is minimal.
  6. Every time I have gone cheap it ends up costing me in the end, because eventually I get tired of the equipment that works most of the time and buy what I originally wanted in the first place. I finally bought an M2.
  7. I am fairly new to 3 gun but also shot a Rem. 1187. The gun functioned fine for me with heavier loads but wouldnt cycle light loads. I have just purchased a new M2 and ran 100 rounds through it. The gun fits well and functioned flawlessly, and remained clean compared to my 11-87. So far I am very happy with the M2 and would definitley choose it over the 11-87, the M2 action also runs much smoother than the Rem., but it should for the extra money.
  8. I bought an XDM for my son to shoot, and he is shooting it in production. He is going to use it in limited so he can fill his mag up. I think with a trigger job it will be a very nice gun, it is the most reliable gun I own, never have had a jam. Does anyone make magwells or extended bases for the XDM? With a couple of mods I think this would make a great Limited gun.
  9. I purchased a Para 16-40 for limited division last week and cant seem to get the hollow point bullets to run without an occasional hiccup. The gun runs factory American Eagle 180 flat nose without a problem. I have about 1000 Berrys HP 180gr. I would like to use. I've tried seating short and long, and long seems to be better but still have an occasional feeding jam. I have also tried increasing powder with these loads. Is this common with HP bullets or is there something else I should try.
  10. I have never tried a Glock, heard from many people they love there Glocks. I will have to try one when I get a chance, this coming weekend we have a shoot. I talked to a member who's son has one set up for the open division, says he wouldn't consider anything else and he's tried several open guns. From what Ive seen you could set up an open gun for about $1200 new. I havent been a fan of the Glocks, but maybe its because Ive never had the opportunity to try one.
  11. Thanks G-Man for directing me to this thread. Great information here, really appreciated. My son and I will be shooting our second match next weekend and will put this info to use.
  12. Thanks for the info on that, the guy I talked to was shooting open with his 9, I didnt know Limited was different for major.
  13. I am going to try and find a .40, but I was told a 9mm can be loaded heavy enough for major, is this not a very good way to go?
  14. I was leaning towards a Para S1640 Limited, but havent made my mind up yet. Next weekend I will be shooting at a different club and will get a chance to see what the guys in the other club are shooting.
  15. So i should be more concerned about capacity, and looking for a .40 or a 9mm. I have thought about another XDM, I bought a 9 for my son and it seems to be decent but I think I would like something more customized, under $1500. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Jason
  16. I,m new to USPSA and just started shooting in the limited 10 class with a Kimber Custom Eclipse. I would like buy a high cap and try the limited class and Im wondering if there is much advantage to moving to a .40. Is there noticebly less recoil? I already load .45 and 9mm but no .40 dies. Ive seen a .40 will hold about 2 more rounds in the mags, but main reason I was thinking about moving to .40 was possibly less recoil.
