Has anyone opened up the gas ports. Of what size did you go too.
-
My short comp and mags came in today. I install the comp and ran about 150 rds thru the gun. No issues other than the comp was loose when I finished. Anyone else had this problem?

How close are the factory sights on these guns. I got the correct riser for my dot and they are not even close.

I got 2 9rd mags in today. Modified them for 10rds and polished the feed lips. The springs are unbelievably stiff. I loaded them with 10rds and plan to leave them for several days.
Any idea why they need to be so strong?

They come with a set of three. Modified is in the tube to begin with
I have the factory chokes but wasn't sure about the thread pattern
-
What choke tubes do the guns run. I didn't see anything in the owners manual. I need a skeet and LM for 3gun

I use the CZ Custom dovetail mount on my Shadow 1 and really don't notice the mount sitting any higher than my open gun. It points well and the dot is easy to pick up.

The STI gen 2 mags work well for me. I am using them straight out of the box.

Thanks for the replies. I will clean everything again, use the loctite primer and see what happens. I don't mind drilling the holes for a 5-40 thread if I have too.
-
The screws are metric and are correct. I hesitated about using the red loctite because I knew how hard this stuff is to remove.

My optic mount comes loose every 5-700 rounds. It is an Atlas mount on a SPS Vista Short 9mm. I have used blue and red loctite but still have issues. I have cleaned the mounting screws and frame prior to installing the mount several times. Any ideas.

I bought one and have not had any issues other than I broke the ejector loading a mag on an open slide. I used an Atlas optic mount instead of the factory one. The gun is very tight and will run minor ammo with a 8lb recoil spring. I went ahead and installed an EGW HD extractor because I have had good service with them. I will be replacing the ignition group with EGW parts sooner or later but the first 3k rounds have been fine.
-
You adjust it the same as a standard extracter
-
I just installed the HD version and tuning was easy and the first 500 or so rounds have been flawless
-
I'm not sure what it's made of but it works

What did you do to tune yours?
I just had to bend it slightly to get the correct tension.

Ran this drill today and averaged 6.1 sec for 10 passes. PM sent for part 2

I've found that tuning the extractor for 9major can be a little tedious to get running 100%. But it's worth it when you finally get it dialed in.
Don't go crazy tuning the "hook". The less you fiddle with the EGW HD the better. Just break the sharp edge on the lead in. Also, barely round the bottom edge of the hook. It comes from EGW pretty square. You just want to BARELY round it. A good needle file is the perfect tool for both of these tasks.
I've made the mistake of taking too much off this corner and then run into extraction issues. When the barrel unlocks, the case is pulled down slightly on the breach face and it seems the more of that corner surface area you have, the better. You just want to break the sharp corner from digging into the case.
I've gotten away with not having to file down the pad at all a couple of times. On a couple others, I had to file the pad down a few thousandths at a time to get more tension. Every slide is slightly different.
Just got back from the range and the EGW HD extractor was flawless. It was easy to tune and I am going to order another one for a spare.

I ordered an EGW which should get here tomorrow. Thanks for the input. I am currently running a 8lb recoil spring. Hopefully I can get reliable extraction without having too much tension.

Anyone using one of these an a 9mm major gun. My factory extractor (SPS) is giving me occasional issues. (FTE)

My CO gun is my backup for my open rig. I shoot a lot of 3 fun matches and take a back up for all three guns.
-
So I shot a local steel match today and paid to shoot open two times. I shot one with major loads and one with some minor loads I use for carry optics. The total times were basically the same.
-
Thanks for the input. For now I am going to load a bunch of major ammo and concentrate on learning how to shoot with a dot. I shot several different loads and bullets and the dot movement is very similar with all of them.

Problems Hand Cycling
My gun doesn't want to hand cycle rounds. I have 3-400 rounds thru the gun. It will cycle 1200fps shells without issue. I took it apart and cleaned it getting ready for a match Saturday and tried to hand cycle rounds after cleaning and found that the rounds get stuck as they are going into the chamber at about a 45deg angle. If I pull the bolt back slightly the round will pop up and chamber. This is not magazine specific as I tried several mags. I have checked the feed lip dimensions on all the mags and they are the same. I have polished the feed lips on the mags.
Any ideas?
