  1. This is great. I just found this post via search - horray. Why are Millet's so hard to find? What about this part from Brownells? http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=323/Product/COMPETITION_REAR_SIGHT_BLADE_KIT
  2. I've been looking into a thin F/O front sight for a 686 too, but I just got the gun and haven't done any messing. What kind of attachments are there (it seems pinned and ??) I think that mine is pinned. What do folks do for rear sights? The notch on the factory rear doesn't seem very deep and I'm sure there is a rear with a large, flat, serrated rear blade out there.
  3. I've never shot low light. In flashlight stages, I find the contrast between the dark sights and the bright target really highlights the sight picture. In low light, I can definately see the merits of tritium.
  4. Great question - I just got an SSR and was thinking the same things. I thought the 38s would be better for loading and unloading, but was also wondering if it was hard to make PF.
  5. Echo - My buddie took one sight picture with a BIG black serrated rear sight and a fiber front and said, "Wow". That says it all, the best sight picture. The fiber front catches the eye but is subtle enough that you can really focus on the black outline for a crisp alignment when you need as much precision as you can get.
  6. I did check the CZ posting and that lead me to this: http://www.marschalgrips.com/?content=CZ_SP01-models It seems the way to make weight is to use light grips and 10 round mags with the plastic base. Unfortunately, the only way to know before I throw a hundred bucks at it is to do some calculations on the current weight, the current weight of the grips and the mags and to see if I can find any specs for the 10 round mags to compare to. I don't think this is going to happen this weekend, but if I get it done, I'll repost. If anyone has done this, let us know what it gets the weight down to.
  7. I think that DWFAN was asking why you need to use 10 rounders to make weight with a Shadow. I've been told that they 10 rounders are lighter than the stock steel mags because the lower 1/3 is plastic. I am interested in more advice on this subject though. I have a Shadow and want to shoot it in IDPA but haven't weighed it. I have only heard that it's too heavy and needs to slim down. Anyone know how to lighten the gun but stay compliant with the rules. I need to review the rule book, but I know that you can't shave any weight from the slide. What are people doing to shoot Shadows in IDPA? I've heard of lighter grips. Is it legal to shave a couple of ounces from the dust cover area of the frame? Is that a bad idea? I love the heft of the gun but a couple of OZ doesn't seem like it would change that materially.
  8. I had a Kimber series II for several years with the FPB and I loved the gun. I never had a single issue with the grip safety, it was reliable and had an awesome trigger that was obviously not from the factory. Wasn't the most accurate gun (very normal 2-3" groups at 25), but I wouldn't be put off by them by any means.
  9. This is very interesting. I would have guessed Glocks were at least 60% of production but the poll shows very differently. Seems like your strange if you don't shoot a Glock in Production. I've got a CZ Shadow and so far everyone who sees it wants to check it out.
  10. I have a few that I use in a Shadow. No problem. Zero errors. The rubber base pads are nice, not afraid to damage them on rocks and concrete.
  11. The stock Shadow is very nice as it. Slide and safeties smoothed up within the first 1k rounds but you can tell they put some effort into the trigger from the factory. I'm sure the custom is even nicer but that improvement will be measured in ounces, not pounds. The stock gun had no creep or OT (with the stop) and it weighs in at 3.5# +/- .1#. Best factory trigger I've shot yet. Can't go wrong.
  12. Realizing that this post it a bit old, but I can add my $.02. I bought the stock Shadow from CZ Custom last year and it was awesome, right out of the box. I'm very picky about the trigger and have been totally satisfied. There were a few internal parts that were not polished and the inside of the frame and other non-critical parts is rough. The critical surfaces have smoothed out very nicely within about 1k rounds. Great gun, highly recommend it. If you have the money, the custom version would be even better but you won't be disappointed with a stock Shadow. BTW the trigger is a creep free and OT free 3.5#. The first 1# goes into the return spring.
