  1. Revoman, What powder do you use? Harvey
  2. I had great time last Saturday & ya'll got luck on the cool weather. I can drag two more if its in one of the last two weekends of October. :-D Most of my club members shoot the Glock matches - we are beginners and old. So any time its cooler it's better!!!
  3. Are your cylinders chamfered? No, I guess there is a tool I need at Brownells!!! Thanks PS What bullet weight do you use? Thanks again Harvey
  4. I agree with John. Sale it and buy what you want. Harvey
  5. Hi All, I am practicing speed loading with my SW 625. My problem is the ammo, do you put roll crimp on the 45 ACP? Every time I throw the moon clip into the cylinder it alway seem the hang up on the case mouth. Also a friend (not revolver shooter) said a lot of shooter are using 45 GAP cartridges because they eject better. Is he pulling my leg? Do you use 200 gn bullets or another weight like 230 or 185? Thanks for the help. Harvey
  6. Hi All, Will those gunsmith fix someone else's butcher job? I like 4" S&W and bought a 4" barrel off Ebay. The seller is "gunsmith" with web site/shop in AL and It's an hour drive from home (thinking great deal). So, I mailed my 686 with 6" barrel to him, he installed new barrel, an action job and radius the cylinder. This will be my IDPA gun. The work look fair but the revolver miss fired one round every cylinder full. I found an extra wolf reduce power spring to fix that problem. Then I start rest shooting for accuracy - about 2.25 " at 20 yards - very poor compared to the 6" barrel. Also, the revolver is spiting lead - I get a ridge at the end on the outside of the cylinder. So, will a good smith take on a butcher job? or should I just sale at pawn shop or keep for car gun and buy new S&W 686 SSR. I have $1200.00 in it right now!
  7. Give all the chambers a good cleaning first and do the ammo test again. I had a ruff chamber that would lead up faster then the rest - I polished the problem away.
  8. Just go to the match!!!! About half of the shooter at the local club will have two guns (rim & center fire). I shot a S&W 686 + (seven shot) - it gives me two chance/misses, with light 38 loads. I am still faster with glock 17, and bring 5 magazine or speed loaders (both). It's an old man match - no running :-)
  9. Yes some of us do. Why because a large primer go bang before it seats in a GAP or WinClean case.
  10. All, Thank you and thanks for the web site http://stevespages.com/page7b.htm on gun manuals. Harvey
  11. Carmoney, Thanks for the information and is there an easy way to disengage the strut? Do you insert an allen wrench / rod from the bottom of the grip to pry it out? Second Question: Do you have favorite product to refinish aluminum frame? Thank you again Harvey
  12. Hi All, My Brother gave me his grandfather-in-law Hi-Standard 22LR pistol. Anyone know how to lighten the trigger pull and slick it up. It feel like 20 lbs! I have only work on S&W 686 & 629, but haven't found any how to DVDs/books or oldtimer. I'm trying not to buy SW 617 right now, but need/want to practice with a 22. Thanks for the help! Harvey
  13. All, I purchases SW 686 with 6" barrel that has "silhouette" front sight. You can set four pins to adjust the height of the front sight (four heights). Also the rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. Anyone know the correct way to set the sight for 40, 60, 80, 100 yards. Every time I get the first two pins (1 & 2) and start on the third it screw up first - they start shooting high. So please help if you have experience. Thanks for all the help. Harvey
