All you have to do is put a 5/16 OD rubber O ring around the back of the firing pin where the hammer hits. This saves wear & tear on the firing pin, spring, hammer, and cylinder.  The gun will dry fire as normal. One O ring will go for thousands of hits. This works for all calibers, unlike snap caps. It also will prevent an AD if you load the gun and forget it's loaded. Remove the O ring to shoot live ammo. Nothing else is cheaper, simpler, or works as well.

can you post a picture of that ?

  2. I think the real goal should be for the BoD to listen to those who shoot the division and not those who don't.

And as we all know, trying to figure out who the BoD, as it is currently made up, does listen to is a fools errand, at best.

    Thanks for proving my point.

    You're welcome ?

Unfortunately for your narrative the revolver world is happy, discussions don't equate to unhappy.  We are small and I think that's good.  Keeps the agitators busy elsewhere.

It's not my narrative - just my observation. I've shot revolvers in both USPSA & IDPA.  I have no distain for them or those who shoot them I just don't live in a delusional world where they are viewed as equal.

Revo shooter: Complains about disrespect.  Calls semi-autos "bottom feeders". :D

I've never seen outright hostility.  There's plenty of ribbing back and forth, but most auto shooters secretly know they could never do that well with a revo.

    No disagreement there Shred

  4. As long as it's understood that the shooting world views those who shoot revolvers as a group that can never be happy and comprise a seriously small group that doesn't have any leverage, then it's all good.

    I can't help but agree.

Do you think the USPSA BoD even has a clue?  (They certainly don't seem to.)

That's one of the frustrating parts to this whole saga - how can they not ?

And yet, their actions indicate they don't.  When this whole thing started, back with the removal of Mike Foley, my AD engaged with me when I expressed some concern. Now he doesn't even give a courtesy response ; no thank you, F you  Kiss my ass, go to hell. Nothing.

The embedded assertion here is that lots of divisions is a problem, and I haven't yet heard a convincing argument as to why.

    You must be new.

  7. If anyone has been paying attention to the PCSL lately, they seem to have come up with an amazing solution to all these divisions.

I'm paraphrasing here but they will allow local matches to recognize anything that makes sense based on laws or members desire but only have national championships for a handful, I think it was 4.

So want to shoot Revo optics ?  Or Open-10 because you are restricted in your state ?  Go for it but unless they have several hundred wanting to compete at the Nats, that is as far as it will go.

  8. On a trip from Houston to Dallas I stopped at Able in Huntsville, TX and they had one on display I got to fondle.

It was very impressive. Extremely well made and the fit & finish was noticeable.   I don't see the value but it was not a Taurus for sure.

If you can afford it, I think you'd like it.  I shoot a Krieghoff  and a Kolar for clays and most people would think both are way over priced and that you can get a gun that is just as good for half the price or less. That is true, but a Beretta, even a DT11, will never be  Krieghoff.

I've found Federal brass with TK moon clips with Federal Small Pistol Primers work best in my 929.

Starline .38 short colt brass  with TK moon clips with Federal Small Pistol Primers work best in my 627.

Thanks for the info - very helpful

The 929 with MIM parts is way more expensive to tune that the older 627s with forged steel parts.

Best to find an older 627 before they added the trigger lock system and MIM parts 😉

I'm sure that is great advice but not really helpful in my situation.

  11. So I've bought a 929 because I wanted one.

I'm not overly interested in dumping a ton of money into it so I'm looking for a few suggestions on what to do to make it a little more shootable on a budget.

Trigger spring suggestions are most welcome but not really looking at replacing the hammer.

I'd bet it would be #1 only.  5.1.9.

BTW, no one is talking about banning holstered pistols.  The discussion is about wearing one pistol while shooting another, or a long gun.

See, now that's where you might be wrong.

Option # 1 from @ZackJones post above reads  "No holstered guns for any division for any stage." which to me indicates that when you walk to the box, you best not have your handgun in a holster on your belt.

  13. A lot of unknowns here so please take these suggestions accordingly.

I'd tell him thank you but to be quite unless it's a safety issue but that's just me.

Is the RO assigned to squad or stage ?   if squad, ask for a different squad.

Ask another shooter who appears to know what's going on their opinion and maybe intervene for you.

And you can always talk to the Match Director and ask them.

  14. This post has got to be include in the Best of BE.

First, we have the audacity of the OP  on full display. He clearly has no idea where he is.  Glorious I say, Glorious.

Next,  we have some long time members trying to help him out.  OPs second post was pretty good. I almost bought it for a second. Thought for sure they Mods were about to drop a hammer. Waiting with baited breath I was.

Then the Mods come in and show amazing restraint. I thought for sure they step on themselves and then step in a pile too but they didn't. The OP even dared them to. Ballsy for sure.   I think someone has hacked their account TBH.

And then, just like it started, it was over.

    Bravo Gentlemen, Bravo!
