  1. The 5 seconds at the line argument works both ways. If it takes 5 seconds while I'm clearing you, it would take about the same for you to walk over to the safe area and bag it yourself.

Again, in the Nationals, Area matches and Sectionals I've RO'ed/CRO'ed, I'll tell you that you're not bagging on the line because the crews I've been on, we want to move folks through quickly, so that they can get on with their day, and we can get a rest before the next squad comes on.

  2. Lanzo - 11X doesn't disqualify him from RIP. All it is stating that he's 11 series and going OSUT. Whether it's 11B or 11C is at the needs of the Army, but in either case, he'll probably be cross trained in both. Too, while at Airborne, they'll be seeking folks that want to go directly to RIP upon completion. Usually, everyone who's MOS is needed gets hit up about during Jump Week and well...11 Bullet Catcher's are always in need. 18X is the SF career path and a completely different way to go than what BJ's signed up for.

As for which unit is the greatest Airborne unit in the history of the universe...well...being on the other end of the emergency phone, being wheels up to anywhere in the world in less than 18 hours (30 hours for the Aviation Brigade) and owning the title of America's Strategic Response Force is explanation enough. But if not, we can count CMH's and there was that guy Alvin York ;). That and again, having been the medic at Regiment for a bit can tell you that at Division, we can read and write...at the same time and don't have a headache when we're done. :D

BJ - Really proud of you brotha and you got my PM.

  3. Couldn't have said it better Howard. My swear in day was awesome (4 days actually 'til that day) and to this day feel it was the greatest thing I have done (until July 11th, when I married my best friend).

  4. B.J. - If you want some questions answered about RIP vs. tabbing out Ranger feel free to PM or e-mail. I was the medic at Regiment for a bit and between that and my time at the greatest Division/military unit in the history of the universe (82nd Airborne Division, a.k.a. America's Strategic Response Force/The World's ONLY All Airborne Division) I can make some suggestions based upon your career goals.

  5. No bagging on the line, when I'm RO'ing. I patiently and graciously point you in the direction of the safe area that we have at basically EVERY bay and let you know you can do it over there. Worst range I've ever seen still has one ever 2-3 bays apart. Or...carry it. No conditions are worse than shooting at Washoe range in Reno. 1998 Area 1 we just used the shower caps from the hotel. ;)

Of course...it helps having guns built by gunsmiths that can make a gun run in just about anything. :D

  6. So I am guessing that since my Dad lives in Vegas, I should be able to ship all of my ammo to him via UPS and it will be all good to go?

    Yep. You're fine.

As for not shipping at the UPS Store...hmmm....guess it comes down to how you ship it and whether or not you tell them what's in the box.

ETA: I've shipped ammo via UPS/FedEx from my office. ;)
