    To hell with all that. 300+. It's a rifle. If I wanted to shoot a pistol match with a rifle, well...I'd just shoot a pistol match. 300 yards is nothing with an AR, especially since we had guys hitting man sized targets at 800 with their factory AR's in about a steady 6 with gusts to 12 mph wind. Them little 75 & 77gr. pills were getting thrown but if a shooter that has never shot longer 100 yards can do it in a span of an hour, a little bit of time on the range can get you squared away from 300-500.

    As for similar/consistent conditions, suck it up and shoot. Unless we start shooting in a box, it'll never be identical and frankly, the conditions are the conditions for every one. I'm pretty sure the sheet of ice that was on the roof at FTB3G last year sucked for the guys in the morning. I know it did for the guys on the bridge. The answer? Oh well...it's not USPSA or IDPA.

    Just shoot the stage as it is and do a little bit of homework starting with zero'ing the rifle. Little bit of time getting some FREE data from JBM ballistics and then doing a little homework on the range to check POI's out to 300-500. And before the statement comes of a lot of ranges only go to 100, you can easily check POI on a 100 yard range with a ruler and your data. Heck...at most matches a hard 50 yard zero will take care of EVERY long range shot you'll need.

    If you're 3.5" high at 300, that's 1 MOA (and change) at 300 yards.

    However, your scope correction would be the same as stated above 14 clicks.

    It's a bit of semantics of terminology but both answers are arguably correct.

    This is why I had to get rid of my lifted Tahoe (not to mention the gas mileage).

    On a road trip to LA once, about 15-20 wannabe Hell's Angels decided they needed to go 65 and take up both lanes of I-5 through the central valley of California. Well...after riding their ass for about 3 miles, enough was enough and took the shoulder and kicked up rocks and junk to get around them (33" tires and a 4" lift tend to that).

    A couple of them sped up next to me and one reached for his "traffic cop". Now, growing up in a biker family, I knew what he was doing and he'd apparently forgot his lesson in physics. While in the left lane and he and his buddy in the right lane, I just simply began changing lanes. As they crept closer and closer to the bridge barrier that went over the California Aqueduct, I think they remembered their mass and force equations from school.

    They backed off. Met up with me at a truck stop and again, in force attempted to exert their opinion on the matter. I chose to again take this moment as a teaching opportunity, but that's a story for another time.

    Point being, just 'cause you're middle aged and have some want/need to be cool on your little scooter, doesn't give you a right to be a jerk. There are others on the road and as a motorcycle rider myself, I will never understand those that are just flat out rude and crude on their bikes. Of course, all the tools for my bikes are metric and well, they don't leak and I've never had to pull over on the way to Reno/Tahoe to fix something or let the engines cool off.

    ETA: Don't need loud pipes to alert car drivers on cell phones if you weren't close enough to them to get hit. Rule #1 from high school driver's training is leave yourself an out. :D

    At least it is an SEC school and that of the National Champions...so there is hope for you yet. :roflol: Soon you will see the light and turn towards the Gamecocks.... :rolleyes:

    I doubt it brotha. USC, Florida....I tend to like winning teams. However, I'll check right now if South Carolina has a PA program.

    It'll be a great game next week and Coach Tresselmen will have the Buckeyes ready to play. Major down year for USC and that's been known since a year ago. So...get your licks in now, 'cause the last time we started freshmen QB's they went on to win National Championships and 1 Heisman trophy.

    You mean like an M1A or a M1 Garaand? Or do you mean like a Disipator? How about EVERYTHING is in open and we all just shoot heads up? That would be my vote, no more divisions or classes, I ain't afraid of no dots or optics and then we could all run Beta C Mags like we used to! KurtM

    Run what you brung and no stage diagrams before the match either.

    Normally I'd agree with you on the fulfulling a commitment part, but let's put it simply this way. Had the competitor showed up to RO the next day, there'd have probably been a fight and he chose the high road and paid his full match fee.

    ETA: There were NO shortage of RO's either in case there is a concern of it's hard to find RO's to work a match.
