Thank you for replies so far, now all I have to do is trim up a bunch more and start my load developement. As I get data, I will post in case others might want to try this out
Had an idea to try out something new and was looking for some feedback. I have a 6" S&W 57 that has been milled for moonclips and love the gun. Thought I would try and trim down some .41 Mag brass to "special" lenght, like .357/ .38 and .44mag/.44 spec. so they would load into the cylinder a little faster. Figure I'll call them ".41 SS" for short special. Has anyone tried this before? I plan to only load for ICORE or USPSA minor, 125 ish power factor and thought Trail Boss might be a good safe powder to start using 195 gr. cast lead bullets,, any feedback would be welcomed
Just for fun, try a cylinder full of 110 or 125 gr JHP's with a full dose of Win 296 of H-110, no need for flashlights and the WOW factor is great in a dark stage. Also is a good way to convince other shooters that some of the "low flash" loads that are out there today, are a good choice for your home defense loads, most people never get a chance to see how some ammo can blind your night vision in the dark, have fun
Craig is right, as is the case with most top shooters in our game,. Why be unsure, if you don't yet reload, good time to start, and if you don't own a chrono, ask around at your local club who does. I'm sure someone will bring it out and everyone at the club can verify their loads, we do that about every other month.
Hey Dean, everything looking good for tomorrow? If you neeed a hand setting up, let me know and I'll try to come up a little early , maybe set up an extra quick classifier stage? Might go retro with the 6" 57 tomorrow
Hey Craig,
Spoke with Cliff recently, and it appears that "The Cup" is his this year,,,, just a friendly heads up !!!! While you 2 battle it out, my plan is to sneak in on it,, real smooth and quiet like
Hope to shoot with you again, totally understand the travel and budget, we have NO work, that's why we are so lucky to have alot of different matches around here. Stay well and shoot straight my friend
Seems like revo, ssr/esr is being talked about more and more lately,,, an invite to come over and try some ICORE,,, very much like IDPA in that accuracy is key and the scoring is raw time plus points down added. Check it out in the match announcements
... that sounded like a request...
Forget about it Craig, I'll get to Frank at the "Cup" before you do !!! You normally go SSR anyway, leave us ESR guys alone please
Hey Robert,
The date is 22 May 2010 ,,,,,0830 shooters meeting. 12 stages with a minimum round count of 225. The fee is only $75.00 before 22 Apr 2010. Hope you can make it, John
Thought I would try something new, USPSA has a great self-squadding system in place for major matches. This gives shooters a chance to see who all is shooting and what division and class they are competing in. I don't think that ICORE has such a setup, so lets do it ourselves. If we go ahead and start a running list of who will be shooting in May 2010 at the match, it might encourage some more shooters to come out and join us. As people see some of the big names in revolver (like our current USPSA revo champ Mr. Walsh) will be shooting , hopefully they will want to come out for a chance to shoot with the best, (can't back out now Cliff). Hope this works out and I might as well start as shooter #1
ICORE limited- C class Retro- U Open- U USPSA revo- B class IDPA SSR- SS/ ESR- Ex
Trying to get a good turnout for ICORE match at Caswell Ranch on Sunday, if you have a revo come on out!!!! If not, come on anyway and someone will let you borrow one for the match, at least I know I will have one extra with me
Yes Greg,
You will shoot that in limited division. Open has optics and the new "Retro" division is 6 shot only fed with speedloaders. Come on up this Sunday to Caswell Ranch and shoot with us. Drag Greg Q. along with you and we'll have a great time
