  1. It's awesome to see guys getting manicures.  I actually made my living in College doing this, and the guys were the best tippers and most appreciative.

As for the martini, skip the vermouth and I'm there :-)

Can't comment on the girls with nice hair and high heels, other than that's what i wear every damned day it's nice to come home and put on sweats and go shooting.  (Yes, I'm not your average grrl

  2. But it's not an IPSC rule, and that's an IPSC rulebook, capiche :-)  And besides, it's been in effect long enough and is SO well known that it's rarely an issue.

The guy loading to 1.250 misread the resolution, that portion refers to .38 super, not 9x19.

  4. There are few ways to win a slot to the Nationals...

The Sections are given some for the clubs, some tournament matches are given some and the Area matches are given some.  (You can view the minutes of the recent BOD meetings to try to glean the current policy!)

Your local club, section and Area, should all have published slot distribution policies.

If you don't win one from the above mentioned... you can just buy one!  Around February of next year, call Kim Welke in the USPSA Office... she'll put you on the wait list and then will call you when you're name comes up.

    A few things to remember:

    1.  "earned" slots are cheaper than purchased slots.

    2.  When Kim calls, she'll ask for your credit card number!

I believe that everybody that called her got a callback with the option to buy a slot.  I did, but turned it down :-)

The Limited Nationals currently are held for Limited, Limited 10, Production and Revolver.  The Open Nationals are just that - they only score Open.  I have however, seen Limited shooters participate at the Opens for the experience.  I have not seen Open shooters at the Limiteds (and I've been to the last 4!)

  5. I've played and played with my Limcat holster over the past 3 days since you posted this, john - and I can't get it to wiggle, move or otherwise do anything that it's not supposed to....

My belief is that the holster you "played" with and that you're friend returned weren't set properly.  Once you've got the holster adjusted, the gun just ain't coming out!  (UNLESS you knock you're knee into if you're kneeling and it's not locked - pops out real easy then!)

I haven't played with a Ghost holster because I LOVE the Limcat Stealth and will probably never switch!!!

I also have a HUGE problem with any product that directly steals a neat gimmick from someone else...

  6. Gotta disagree with Singlestack's opinion.

The Limcats can be easily modified by obtaining the "shim" that he designed for myself and Ellen when we complained about it not fitting right around our hips. The lower profile is much more comfortable to wear...

Also, the Stealth does not require drilling your trigger guard.  And the Ghost is not nearly as secure as the Stealth - I asked Bruce Gary and and 3 of the guns dropped at Area 1 were out of Ghosts - ZERO drops from Limcats.

The only benefit to the Ghost is that it is less expensive, but in this instance, you do get what you pay for.

  7. Okay okay okay - I really want a book, but am too cheap to pay for one... so here's my REAL guess, not Mike's :-)

5 shots     West Covina Speed Option (thanks for the hint)

    5 Shots     Outer Limits

    2 Shots     Double Trouble

    5 Shots     Showdown

Shot 4x's each for a total of 108 rounds

  8. DH = Dear/Darling/Dumb Husband - depending on my mood!

The trigger was definitely DIFFERENT!  I was about 95% done with the match when somebody mentioned that you didn't have to let it all the way out like a 1911 - d'oh!!!!!

    Thanks!

Hey Phil - aren't you supposed to be HERE by now????  Still no flights....

  9. I've noticed a definite pattern to improving during competitive shooting...

First - you're extremely accurate but a little slow.

Second - while trying to "speed up" and be more competitive you'll lose the accuracy (FRUSTRATION HERE!)

Third - you slow down a little to increase your accuracy - this is where you'll start feeling the "competitive urge", you'll start nudging into "placing" - but this stage is also fraught with frustration, it's TOUGH to find the right balance of speed and accuracy!

Fourth - this is where it all comes together!  In IPSC this is about high B class, low A class.  I'm not sure how IDPA does their "classes", but they should have similar levels.

The time it takes to move through these stages varies by individual - I'm still in stage 2 and i've been doing this for 4 years...

IF you keep these observations in the back of your brain during your shooting career, hopefully you'll be able to decrease the frustration by remembering that EVERYONE went through this just like you!

  10. I've already decided that if I get 4 classifiers within a reasonably short timeframe that are thrown out for being too high that I'm going to ASK to be moved up!

But to actually answer your question, you should find middle ground :-)  Go as fast as you can see your shots and get good hits!!!!  That will be your true level of ability!
