What advantage does the 617 have over an old Model 17 ten shot?

Never mind. I answered my own question. HKS does make speed loaders for the model 17.

There is a nice speed loader for the 617. Is there one available for the Model 17?

I am getting old and it may have been less than 10 seconds, but it was long enough for him to hold it to wait and see if it was going to fire before he started to move the gun.

It sure could have been old ammo. My buddy never throws anything away, so there is no telling how old it was.

I have been thinking about getting a 617 and it started me thinking about the rimfire shooting I have done. Rimfire benchrest is something I do a bit, but one of my most vivid memories occurred many years ago. A friend was shooting an old Luger style rimfire pistol. He pulled the trigger and nothing happened. After waiting at least 10 seconds he started to move the pistol and the round fired. Have any of you had a similar experience?

I have a 608 that I enjoy shooting, but I do not like the rubber 8-shot loaders. Does anyone prepare the chamber for moon clips and are moon clips available? Thanks

I am 52 and not as spry (see, that is an old person word) as I used to be. Add to that the fact that I plan to shoot a 625 and I am starting to wonder if I will slow down the process too much at a match. I think with some time that I could do OK, but I am worried about the first matches. I do not want to be a problem to the established shooters. Is this a real concern or should I just go shoot and have fun?
