  1. If I'm not mistaken that name came from Randy (Michelle Willis' youngest son) @ a local match about a year ago! For those of you who don't know Michelle, she is Rodney May's sister who worked stage 3 with her dad. I would also like to thank John and the rest of the staff, competitors and sponsers who make this match what it is. This was my first RO job at a major match and boy was it FUN! I was one of the one's sweating like a pig on stage 5. I got my exercise this weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. I would also like to thank Kevin "DOC" Martin for all the advice for a new RO. See you all next year! Jimmy C
  2. I would also like to thank Randall and staff for putting on a great match. The range and stages were great and challenging. Squad 4 was great also. Thanks to all. Jimmy C.
  3. What??? A women that wants to go shooting on your honeymoon!!! You better bag her quick. I get scourned for wanting to go somewhere on vacation and shooting while we are there. Congrats!
  4. By the comments posted here, sounds like this will be a match to remember! LOL! Looking forward to it.
  5. Yeah Spanky congrats, you shot a great match! Thanks to all who put such hard work and effort into this match. Also a HUGE thank you to the sponsors!!!! It was great as usual! For those who didn't make it, you missed out on an awesome match! Jimmy
  6. Well, yesterday started out as any other shooting Sunday would, a 2 hour drive to one of my local shooting spots, great people, great stages, well at least the ones I got to shoot! It all started Saturday night with a little cleaning of my new Limited gun. This would be my first match with the new to me gun and I wanted it to be in prestine shape. I broke it all down on the bench Saturday afternoon and cleaned up everything real good. I lubed it up and reassembled! Sunday morning came and I drove to EAPS range in s. Louisiana to one of my local ranges for a great, HOT day of shooting. Well all was well on the first stage except I had loaded one to many rounds in my mags and they didn't want to seat very well. Shuck one round and put a check by a lesson learned. Still didn't do that bad, 4th out of 12 on that stage. So, it's on to the next one. This stage started out seated behind the wheel of a make shift car w/ gun loaded inside the glove box. Cool!!! I hear beep, then I commence with the hose fest, after shooting about 12 shots, I reload and make my way through a door in the stage where another 12 shots await, but wait, as I start engaging the targets, I notice my slide not cycling very well. I slam the back of the slide with the palm of my weak hand and keep shooting away, but wait, it happened again. I clear it, but wait, it happened again and again and again. After about 5-6 times of doing this, I am about to launch my new found love over the berm b/c by this time my blood pressure has raised by more than a few points and then the RO says, "Looks like you lost your extractor!" Dooh!!!!! My external extractor pin has worked its way from its lovely home and launched somewhere on stage 4 @ EAPS. Someone, ie...<ME> forgot to stake the pin back in. CHECK! Another lesson learned! So after unloading and showing clear, yes I had to shake the round from the barrel, I reholstered and went back to find my parts. I found my extractor, thankfully, but there was no way I would find the pin and tiny spring. So, I proceed to my range bag to retire my mags and head to the safe area to ungun myself and call it a day. Next time I will have a backup gun. Check another lesson learned. A friend of mine offered to let me shoot his backup gun, but it would not fit onto my 012 holster. Thanks anyway Joel! Well, I have chocked all this up as lessons learned and hopefully not have these happen again. After a long ride back home beating myself up for stupidity, I've come to the conclusion that a crappy day shooting is still better than a good day at work!
  7. Cool! Well I just started working some loads up yesterday afternoon and got to shoot it for the first time. Wow! That's a great shooting gun Jim, the trigger is sweeeet! Also, I decided to go with the Safariland 012, it works great too. Jim, who would you recommend to do a hard chrome over were the milling was done? I know it's just looks, but..... I may be considering doing that in the next year or so.
  8. OH! SHE DIDN'T! That's crazy!
  9. Thanks Jim, any idea how long ago you built it? Just curious. Jimmy
  10. Already sold out! I should have been paying attention earlier!
  11. If your not really acquinted w/ the TS, it is just like any other target. It starts out dead still, when it changes direction, it is still! Don't chase it! Until you are real confident in your ability, start at the top and work your way down to keep the speed at a minimum. The biggest thing is, don't let it pysch you out, you have to be confident in yourself! Too many people dread a stage with a TS and actually beat themselves before the even start shooting!!!!
  12. Thanks waktasz, several people have asked me about it.
  13. Jim, this is the gun: Not sure about the E in the trigger? Anyone know of this trademark? Maybe just blank that has been lightened with creativity?
  14. Thanks FranDoc, lots of useful info. Jim Anglin is who built the gun. Don't know about the 5 mags I got with it? I like the newer race holsters...ie..ghost..limcat stealth...etc.. but not sure if any of those will work with the Caspian? Anyone have any experiance with these?
  15. Thanks Alan, it already has the mag well. Love it!
  16. Great thread, thanks for the info. I called myself searching for this stuff, I guess I need practice on that also.
  17. Also, how many rounds are folks getting in their Caspian hi-cap mags? I know they come in 18 round .40, but some ingenious person out their is bound to have pushed it to get more huh? Are they propriatary too, or will s_i mags work? And I assume that all race holsters that fit s_i guns will fit this?
  18. Thanks jasmap! Just wondering, I'm new to Caspian and the limited game. I've been shooting production for the past 1.5 years since I started IPSC shooting.
  19. Is Brownells the only place that sells parts for these? Are there any places to buy aftermarket parts?
  20. I just bought a limited Caspian hi-cap from another BE member and was wondering something. Is the Caspian Hi-Cap a propriatary product or does any other parts interchange with it? Top end looks to be standard 1911 but the frame behind the trigger widens out to make the hi-cap part. What parts are propriatary and what parts aren't???? Any comments would be appreciated.
