  1. Has anybody been researching other places to stay.

I was not wild about the Orleans, but unlike Aircooled6racer, I only ate at the Orleans. So I am petty tired of their food selection.

I would prefer to have a nice bed, the drive does not bother me too much. I just want a nice place to stay.

I think I'm going to stay at the Orleans again. I was pleased with the rooms I've had there, the prices are reasonable, and the few times I ate at the hotel, the food selection was adequate.

  2. How do you compare your p30l to your glock 35. Two pistols I am on the fence about. (either in 9 or 40).

Not the person you were asking, but I shot a 34 for years before I picked up a P30L. I'd say the only thing the P30 has over the G34 is a more comfortable grip. Other than that, it's shorter, sits higher in the hand than a Glock, has very few modification options, has an overly-heavy trigger from the factory and costs twice as much. But it is very comfortable to shoot.

  3. I've been trying to get to www.photomotionphotography.com for a few days with no success either. I just did a WHOIS look up and her domain expired on 6/12. Does anyone know her personally to see if she's aware that her domain has expired?

She stated it would be at least 2 weeks before the photos were ready for viewing. Patience my friends are a virtue.

Its not that we are being impatient, its that the website does not exist right now--that's all we were asking about.

  4. Can someone post a link to the Michelle's (the photographer) website? I think she was on stage 7.

    www.photomotionphotography.com

Also, the match results seem to be missing on the USPSA web site. Anyone been able to see them today?

Has anyone been able to get on the Photomotion web site? It's been down since I got back.

And for some reason, I also can't access the scores--for A5, A6, etc. Not sure what's going on.

  5. This first part is copied from another thread asking about HK 45 sights:

First off, you are welcome to do what I did, which gave me a perfectly acceptable result: I bought a .180 tall by .125 wide Dawson FO front sight for a Kimber, which has a bigger dovetail than the HK, and filed the dovetail down 'till it fit. Took me about ten minutes, shoots to POA, and I'm happy...But not happy enough.

I called everyone I could think of to inquire about getting some decent (competition) sights for the HK 45 / P30. I spoke to Heinie first, as they already make a set, but they refused, saying they would produce nothing other than the night sights they already make. Nothing without tritium, nothing with different heights, widths, etc. I also tried Novak, Warren, etc, with no luck. I contacted Dawson about making some sights months ago. Initially I got a no, but eventually I talked to the right person (thanks Chet), and I think we are headed in the right direction. I sent them my slide, and they are going to make a .180 x .125 FO and plain serrated front sight to fit the factory dovetail. And if possible (fingers crossed), I am having them make a front and rear set, similar to their M&P sights, with a .180 x .115 front sight, and a rear sight with a .135 wide notch. Now some may not like those demensions, but I'm funding the extra R&D costs out of my own pocket so that they will become a regular stocked item at Dawson, so deal with it

*UPDATE* I got a call from Dawson late last week. They are going to make a complete sight set, front and rear! Should be done in a week and a half or so, and they are going to ship my slide back with the sights installed. I'll shoot it as soon as possible, and if no changes need to be made, they will begin stocking them as a regular item. If anything needs to be tweaked, it may be jast a little while longer.

I'll post pics as soon as I get the slide back.

  6. On the registration form in the Classification section, does it matter what division (Lim, L10, etc) you circle? Are those just examples, or is there going to be Production Division at the match? Or do all iron sight guns shoot heads up and you are just writing down your highest classification? I guess I misunderstood it.

All iron guns shoot heads up against each other, as do open guns. You can shoot an iron sighted gun in open if you like. There are only two divisions, limited and open. Production, revolver, limited, L-10, single stack with iron sights will be under "limited", with a 10 round max magazine capacity. You can use any type of magazine but can only load 10 rounds. Any gun with and optic or compensator is "open", also with a 10 rounds max magazine capacity.

I think Phil has the "other" divisions on the entry form so he can check on people and appropriately classify entries. Like, if you are a M in production but A in limited, your going to shoot this match as limited A.

Pay special attention to the prize distribution. If there are sufficient entries the format for going to the prize table is:

Overall winner, first GM, first M, first A, first B, first C, first D,

then 2nd GM, 2nd M, 2nd A, and so on through 5th GM - D, then the rest by overall finish. So, if you finish top 3 of your class, you will be among the first 15 to go to the prize table, assuming there are enough entries in your class.

    Good luck,

    Seiichi

If I understand it correctly, that part in red isn't right. You wouldn't shoot it 'A Limited,' (there is no Limited) you would shoot it 'M Iron sight,' correct? M is the highest iron sight (Lim / L10 / Prod / Revo) classification for that person, not A. Right?

  7. I was waiting to say anything until I had the sights in my hand, but I'll throw this out.

First off, you are welcome to do what I did, which gave me a perfectly acceptable result: I bought a .180 tall by .125 wide Dawson FO front sight for a Kimber, which has a bigger dovetail than the HK, and filed the dovetail down 'till it fit. They quoted me a 4 week turn-around time, so I'll keep you informed. As soon as the slide shows up, I'll post some pictures.

ETA Oh ya. I hate dots on my rear sight, so I sanded it with some 600 grit, and shot it flat black spray paint. It gives a pretty nice sight picture with the FO front.

  8. Hey Chet. What would be the possibility of getting sights for the HK P30 / L / HK45 into production? They are becoming more popular in USPSA (KC took 2nd overall at Area 6 with a P30), and nobody makes a set of competition sights for them. I ended up getting a Dawson front sight for a Kimber and filing it down with a triangle file until it fit. It works, but I'd much rather have something that was made for it. And the factory rear sights on the HK are less than stellar. A set like the ones you make for the M&P would be great.

    Thanks

  9. switch to banana boat ultra sweatproof,(Orange bottle) it doesnt stain as bad, the blue bottle stuff is the worse, used to turn the top part of my socks orange.

    I'll try that, thanks.

I've got the shirts soaking in pre-treater now, and I'll wash them when I get home from work. I'll come back with the results later.

  10. Surely dawson precision should be jumping on this. With the P30 starting to gain a lot of sales and a place in IDPA and USPSA production I cant see them not wanting to.

Hopefully they will, but not as of yet. I have called Dawson a number of times, Novak Warren and Heinie, all with no results. Heinie makes a sight for it, but they won't make it in any configuration other than the straight 8 night sights, and only with a big .155 rear notch. I'm not sure what else to do.

  11. I found out that the USP and P30 do not share the same front sight dovetail. I was able to find a sight with a larger dovetail, and then file it down to fit the HK dovetail. It works, but its a pain. I wish someone, anyone, would make a decent set of sights for the P30.

  12. You guys are animals. I would burn like a yankee if I didn't wear SPF 70 sun block in Florida.

FWIW, I called TechWear. They said they had never heard of it happening, and didn't know what would happen if I used color safe bleach on it.

ETA Gotta love the interweb. If any of you care to read a page on sun block staining clothing, and how to remove it...

    http://www.ehow.com/way_5639760_sunblock-stain-removal.html

  13. I think I worded that wrong. What I meant was pre-travel, or travel reduction, or reset. For example, a company does a 'reset reduction package' for a Sig which reduces the distance that the trigger would travel forward in SA mode (after the slide is in battery) by 50%. Wouldn't it no longer have a stock appearance externally? I guess I'll have to read a little more. I'm not opposed to it, I just don't want to break the rules. But if the trigger does not go as far forward on a modified gun (because of the shortened reset, then it would not 'look' stock. Maybe I'm over-thinking it.

Here is the verbiage I am pondering...

Per existing NROI ruling, any “internal” modifications

which result in a visible change to the external

appearance of the gun when it is in battery REMAIN

    PROHIBITED unless specifically allowed

    by the plain language herein.
