I have a CED Millennium chronograph, along with the IR screens and battery pack. Earlier today I broke it all out for a pending trip to the range. I have not used the IR screens or battery pack in about a year, and was going to charge up the battey. But I have run into a problem I was hoping someone could help me with. I know (thought?) the AC adapter for the battery pack works not only to charge the battery pack, but also to run the IR screens if you have a wall outlet. My problem is that I can no longer plug the battery pack into the AC adapter to charge it--they have the same male plug. The cord for the IR screens has the female side, which the AC adapter plugs in fine, and the battery cord plugs into it fine, but not the battery cord into the AC adapter, as they are identical. Now surely this change didn't happen while it was sitting in a box for the last year, and I am obviously doing something wrong. If anyone has the battery pack and IR screens, can you go look at your cords and tell me what the hell I'm doing wrong? Did I lose an adapter somewhere? Was there a different AC adapter for the battery pack, and I'm just not remembering (and I have probably lost it)?
Thanks

I wasn't aware you could do that...The retention cap is just pressed in? Just pull it out and roll?
Thanks. You have let me step away from the heavy equipment.

OK, so I'm a dumbass. I picked up a Wolff gude rod and some ISMI springs. I guess I should have asked, and I feel kinda stupid now, but the freaking ISMI springs don't fit on a Woff rod.
I'm impatient and thinking about chucking it up in a lathe...

I know each gun is a little different, and I need to test my gun to see if it works, but...How important is it to run a reduced power striker spring along with a 13# spring? Can I get by with the factory one with a 13# recoil spring, or am I likely to run into problems pulling the gun out of battery?

Great pics. Love wheelin' CO! Nice shirt, btw... matches the jp!
My wife got me that shirt in 2002 when we went to Camp Jeep, and I never wore it. I broke it out for this special occasion. Half way up the mountain, I figured I had better put on some sun screen before I got burned. I grabbed the bottle and flipped the top...and it exploded on me (pressure change w/ elevation)and stained the shirt--bleach didn't even get it out.

Amazing pictures, looks like a great trip. I'll need to add this to my list of places to see. I wouldn't mind camping under the stars out there in the near future!
We do a lot of tent camping in FL and GA, and noticed that the camping in CO seemed a little more...primitive. We are used to power and water at each campsite, with a decent shower facility close by. The sites in CO didn't seem to have those comforts, but the camp sites had magnificent views. With two young girls, I don't see us tent camping there, but for someone who doesn't mind roughing it a little bit, it would be worth it.

A new single stack that I just got for my new shooting partner--my wife! She tried my G34, but really preferred my SS .45. The recoil was just a bit much for her, and I didn't want her to develop a flinch, or to associate anything negative with the gun, so I picked up this 9mm Trojan. I had it all of about two hours before I took after it with a file. Wilson mag release, S&A magwell, ambi safety and a Dawson F.O. front sight. Its a lot of fun to shoot, and I'm really impressed with the build quality for a production line gun.

The kids are spending the summer with the grandparents, so the wife and I decided to do something fun for our 15th anniversary. We flew in to Denver and drove to Ouray––about 7 hours southwest.
My better half in the Jeep we rented. The pictures don't do it justice, as every place you looked was a postcard.
Here is where the Jeep trail ends at the top of Yankee Boy Basin trail––about 13,500 feet. It was windy and cold––still had snow. The top of the mountain was another 1,000 feet. We tried hiking it, but as Floridians who live at 50 feet above sea level, we didn't get too far.
The Mrs. making a snow angel
There were abandoned silver mines everywhere
I have driven harder trails, but none with the consequences of the trails around Youray. A few feet of rock seperated you from a 1,000 foot vertical drop.
Youray was pretty neat, and we didn't even scratch the surface. We'll be back.

I have Warren / Sevigny sights on two G34s, and I had to go with a .225 tall front sight from Dawson on both of them to hit POA. The .215 tall shot too high, and the .245 too low.

Is there a way to pollish the frame where the trigger bow slides back and forth? Pollishing compound on a heavy wooden Q-tip maybe? I don't have a project, I was just curious.

No. Mag Lula stripper. Works great.
Not sure where yoou got this from, but the standard GI stripper clip adapter works just fine with the P Mags--better than GI aluminum mags, actually. But I agree, Maglula FTW.

Those are nice grips, thanks for the suggestion. I may use this opportunity to try out some aluminum oxide grit material, and paint my own.

My wife has become my new shooting partner (Yay!), and she has taken a liking to my single stack. She asked me if I could find her a set of pink grips for her. I don't want pimptastic pink pearl grips--I'm looking for a decent set of grips. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Just something I noticed on my single stack: I had a gun built a while back, and the gunsmith used a ramped Schueman classic barrel. I have problems running certain magazines with it. I would get a similar malfunction as the one pictured above (but the round is not hitting the front of the mag), where when I released the slide on a full magazine, the top round would, instead of going forward, would first 'rotate' in the magazine and nosedive, and would then make contact with the feed ramp. With a roundnose bullet, it wasn't a problem, as it would simply slide up the ramp, and would work just fine. But it would not feed hollowpoints, or any truncated cone bullets---unless I downloaded the 8 round mags to 6 rounds. I was using a number of different magazines--CMC power mags and Metalform / Cobra mags. It seemed as though the extra power springs in them would cause so much pressure on the top round that when the slide came forward, the top round was so tight in the feed lips that it would first nosedive before moving forward. I started trimming the spring on the Metalform, and got it to feed just fine--but then it would not lock back reliably.
I ended up buying some Wilson Elite mags, and they work perfectly for me. Now I'm not saying the mags were the problem, as the Metalform and CMC magazines worked fine in my other 1911, but there was enough tollerance stacking or some other combination of black magic that caused the gun not to work with one mag, and work with the other. It seemed as though the extra power springs may have contributed to my problem.

Second is a 6.8 spc

I have an 1100 that I picked up for a song at Wal Mart last year when it was mis-marked. I hadn't planned on getting that gun for 3-gun, but I couldn't pass it up. I have it set up, and really like it, but all of the reports of problems have me a little concerned. I don't shoot a lot of 3-gun, but I don't want to have a bunch of problems come match day. Are there known problem areas in the gun that can be upgraded / modified before they break, to keep problems to a minimum?

Is the frame still the 'gun'? Serial numbered?

I know you said ear muffs, but...soft plugs. I have never worn a pair of ear muffs that I could use with a long gun.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not too concerned on a local level. My overall goal is to become a better shooter and to advance classes no matter where I start. I have fired roughly 4,000 rounds of 9mm since I started shooting pistols 2 years ago, so I'm definitely not as experienced as 98% of the shooters out there. I am a competitive person and do enjoy winning, but I am more concerned about classing up over winning local matches (although the two sort of go hand in hand I would think).
For classifiers your scores are compared to only those within your division, correct? So becoming an A shooter in production, one's scores wouldn't be competing against open shooter's scores?
I've decided I'm going to have the shop fix their screw up and get me the Glock 34. It is what I've wanted, and I'll be able to standardize my ammo a little bit more. I already have mags for it and a few thousand rounds of 9mm (American Eagle 124 grain).
That is correct.

Maybe I got a bad one, but I picked up one of the Ghost 3.5 connectors a few weeks ago and it was terrible. It was worse than the factory 5 lb that came out of it. It was so bad I actually threw it in the trash after I had fit it and tried it out--I didn't even want it in my spare parts bag. I picked up a factory 3.5 and it is much nicer than the Ghost. I also tried a Lone Wolf in another 34 I have, and it also is not as nice as the factory 3.5. YMMV.

so for us that were not there to hear it, why was 4 thrown out, what is the actual story behind it.....
it was one of my better stages, not that any of them were that great.
These were some tough stages and kicked alot of shooters butts!!
Great match, glad I was able to attend the "Spring" Nationals!!!
Thanks to all the staff that put this together!!
From what I was told: Remember the last target on the right (T-11) that was available from the bridge?--It was the one available furthest forward on the bridge. Well, apparently (again, only from what I have heard) the ROs on Friday told the shooters that that target was only available from the bridge, and engaging it forward of the bridge was a 180 violation. Well, by Saturday, the ROs were allowing the target to be shot forward of the bridge, which was advantageous. So it got tossed.
Too bad too, as it was one of my best stages.
-
CRAP! That was my best stage.

That was a fun match. Kudos to the staff, stage designers etc. Good stages, great match hotel, nice range. I'll be back next year.

Thank you sir. I found another AC charger stuffed in a misc. electronics box which has the correct female adapter, so maybe I just misplaced it last time I used it.
