  1. My new Walther PPQ Q5's rear LPA sight broke today, the adjustment screw head broke off. Any ideas on where to quickly get a new one? Anyone know the measurements? Thanks!
  2. I read somewhere that they needed to be the flat springs vs. the wire springs. Can anyone confirm?
  3. I thought I'd post this suggestion for any new Q5 owners that see this: While I had the file out, I took the hard edge off the left side of the "Take Down Catch" (the square you pull down to field strip the gun). With my grip, my support hand thumb presses on the Take Down Catch pretty significantly. Under recoil, that thing turns into a cheese grater and destroys the inside of your thumb. Just passing the file over the edge of it works wonders. /2 cents
  4. Great idea! I just took a nice big chunk off of it and hope that'll do it. Thanks!
  5. I shot my new Q5 for the first time in a match yesterday (second overall Production, woohoo!) and although it ran perfectly the entire time, I did stop the gun two or three times by my high grip pressing the slide release lever inadvertently and locking the slide back. Do you guys have any suggestions how to prevent that from occurring? Is there a way to stiffen the spring? Can you file that sucker down, or is that not Production legal? Love the gun so far, but I can't have the stoppages. Thanks, all!
  6. It has a pretty short chamber, so it's likely not going to eat everything that your 34 will. I haven't had mine long enough to have any malfunctions so I'm no authority on its reliability. The only two stoppages I experienced were from my high grip pushing the slide catch lever enough to lock the slide back. Likewise, I had a nene G34 that took some work to get running reliably and a new M&P that had to go back to S&W a couple of times to get it running past a single magazine. Like rolling the dice I guess. I noticed Hwansik's malfunctions and know he was shooting factory ammo. Could have been the gun, but my guess is that he didn't clean his magazines out and they gummed up from the talc like dirt there. I shot a few squads back from him and noticed the same thing with my mags. I had to take them apart and clean them repeatedly to keep them going. I think he must have figured it out because he only had malfunctions that one day IIRC. That dirt was brutal.
  7. I wonder if the gun with the tungsten guide rod will make weight, especially if using aftermarket base pads? Perhaps Walther will update the weight with NROI?
  8. Great stuff guys! This is exactly the stuff I was hoping to get from you experts. I went to the hardware store for 1x2's to build some vision barriers/walls, but they were all out so I'll get some this weekend and get to work creating some drills to work on this. And wow, Gutt is fast!
  9. Dang it!! I'll have to send it back I guess. The RHT looks great, but don't have a month+ to wait for it. Thanks for the sanity check!
  10. I finally received my new PPQ Q5 Match today (yay) and realized that it doesn't really fit the Comp-Tac holster I bought for it. The side of the holster say PPQ/M2 5, so I believe that's the correct one, but the pistol doesn't fit very well. The trigger guard hits the stops before the rest of the pistol is where it should go. It's about 1/4 from where it should be. Has anyone else seen this? Do they make a Q5 Match specific model? Or perhaps this one is defective? Thanks
  11. I had a great time at Nationals and learned a ton, as it was my first, but I noticed that I am losing a ton of time standing still. As a Production shooter I've been running to each array, setting up, then shooting, then moving to the next array...rinse and repeat. Now that I see the error of my ways, I was hoping to dry fire the bejesus out of this to learn the "techniques," then apply them to my live fire. So with that being said, I'm looking for some dry fire drills to setup and practice. I'm very uncreative, obviously. Any favorite dry/live drills to get this down? I really want to be shooting as I get to a position. Thanks, all!
  12. I had to work a bit to get the Walther's PPQ magazines to fit properly with my CR Speed mag pouches and thought I'd share with the forum. I tried to use a washer behind the STI insert, but it I had to use a pretty big washer that just didn't look like it was going to stay put. I played with the other inserts but they were all just a bit too small except the CZ insert which was a little too big. Measuring them with the calipers, they measured 0.3225 thick. Working them down a bit with a file I found the spot where they seemed to have the proper tension and still allowed for more to be added via the tension adjuster. 0.3160 seemed to work best. Here's the "before" picture. Be sure to file off the side that will make contact with the magazine, the left side in this image. Anyway, hope this helps anyone who wondered if they could use the CR Speed pouches with the PPQ.
  13. Wow, you guys are so organized! Did you seat at 1.110 just to be safe? Or did the profile of the bullet dictate that? I've read that the Q5 has a bit of a short chamber. Thank for the info!
  14. Bill- I'm sure you've seen it, but they do have 17rd mags with an extension on them for some extra real estate. I ordered a couple to try out and I can bring them to Albany if you'd like to borrow them. It's killing me, I have all of the new gear I need to switch platforms ready to go...except the Q5!! Bought it online and wondering if I'm ever going to see it. Other than loads, did you try any other aftermarket parts? Ya, if it is absolutely no trouble for you, I'd try a mag of your 135's. Thanks!
  15. Bill, you have a Q5? Was that Pre-320? Honestly surprised it fits in your hands. Like shaking hands with a pack of bananas. Shooting it this weekend at Albany? Thanks for the info!
  16. Thanks, Scott! Looking forward to building up some loads and comparing them. I have quite a bit of TG left, but I do keep hearing great things about the PV. Cheers!
  17. Thanks guys!!! any Tite Group recipes as well? Appreciate the help!!
  18. Mostly Tite Group, but a few lbs of Prima V that I haven't had a chance to try out yet. CCI 500's if that matters. Thanks
  19. I ordered a Walther Q5 Match and need to develop a load for it, but thought I'd ask the forum if they had already had a favorite recipe(s) I should consider. Since I have about 10K of SNS 125's, I'll likely use those unless you guys think I should look into another weight. I'm new to the platform and didn't know if there was a "de facto" bullet weight it liked. And for what it's worth, I plan on shooting it in USPSA Production, so looking to be above 125 PF. Thanks!
  20. Great info guys! Going to get a pair of cleats, and hoping for dry ground.
  21. Thanks for the advice! Let's hope for dry weather...
  22. Does anyone know what the surface of the shooting bays are made of there in Utah? Grass? Big gravel? Small gravel? Just wondering which shoes would work best there. Thanks!
  23. Bill I just received a PV order with some Prima-V to try out. This is for my Production 320, using 125 SNS. What charge would you suggest on the powder? Thanks for the information!!
  24. I installed the PELT for a friend yesterday and it was really nice. I have one on order and hope it comes soon. Nice piece of kit from GGI. I have 4 P320's and two of them I have taken one of the sear springs out, two I haven't. I pulled one from my RX and I really didn't like it, so I put it back in. Hoping the PELT will lighten it up and still maintain a good feel with it. Side note, all 4 for my FCU's have a different feel to them. I see why Bruce is concerned with his gear working well in all 320's. Tolerances stack up.
  25. I just ordered some of the Prima to try out. Do you think it's substantially better than TiteGroup? I ordered a few different recoil springs to experiment with to see if I can get this thing shooting better. Working on getting a tungsten guide rod made to see if that makes a big improvement. But for the short term, I'll stick with Production. BTW, Bill, I thought I shot really well (most stages at least) on Saturday. How the heck did you get 10 SECONDS on me? Shesh. Congrats on the first place Prod win.
