  1. Yes and Yes Not just a spiffy RO at the shotgun match, but a generous MD as well! Thank you and looking forward to another ProAm! ... some of the ProAm stages will be set-up sans paper tgts close to the 3GN stages so we cann't hide 'em.
  2. The longest AM rifle shot will be Flashers at ~200yds. What about for the Pro side? ~300 to 400 yds
  3. The longest AM rifle shot will be Flashers at ~200yds. Flashers are about 8" in dia? The Flashers are 10"
  4. There will be a 100 yd sight in range. Probably be Doe Valley like last year. We start on stage set-up next week. I'll post the stages ~ Aug 1st.
  5. Does anyone have a source or idea on aquiring a Benelli M2 12 ga youth stock?
  6. I’ve been a big fan of USPSA pistol for many years but am not a fan of USPSA MG. As a MD/shooter of both USPSA and Wildcat MG I prefer the flexibility of the modified IMG rules. USPSA has been unsuccessful at growing/promoting MG at the local or regional level. The rule set has historically been too rigid and inflexible. While I’m throwing rocks at my USPSA, I’ll throw in my personal pet peeve. The USPSA MG and Handgun Nationals seem to have found a permanent home on the West coast. On the subject of growth, it seems we are a victim of our own success. Our local matches have also grown to the point where further growth will affect the quality of the experience. Our Club like many others has worked for years to bring our numbers up and now we want to stop the growth??? Let’s look for another solution. In a democratic society numbers matter. Local club matches are where most of us got our start. It still supports the most shooters and brings in most new shooters. “Back in the Day” NTPS in TN ran a two day format for their local pistol matches. Some wanted to shoot on Saturday and others on Sunday so they compromised and shot both days. What a great solution. Twice the shooting. The format allowed NTPS to handle 100 shooters easily and shoot two guns each day! There are some problems to overcome. You’ll likely need two sets of leaders working together. I’m sure you have noticed that shooters are an independent bunch especially MGers. A two day format may not work in every local but it will for some. There must be other clubs out there using a two day format now. We are shooting a two day MG at our local club ORPCI in April. We’ll see what happens. Major matches are a different animal. The Brownells Rockcastle ProAm had ~1200 hits for 500 slots. That kind of response is exciting but again I don’t like turning perfectly good shooters away. We need everybody. Perhaps some of our more learned/experienced shooters can offer up solutions for continued growth. I don’t have one…… Maybe we could just host more matches?????????
  7. I would not advise anything below a 125 PF. Last year we set full poppers at ~ 30 yds.
  8. Slings willl not be needed. I'll range the flashers tomorrow. Just gussing the longest shot looks to be a little over 300yd.
  9. Here are the stages. They will also be posted on the Rockcastle site. The match will be a good opppturnity to join 3GN, shoot 4 classifiers, and be classified. 3gn1.pdf 3gn2.pdf 3gn3.pdf 3gn4.pdf 3gn5.pdf 3gn6.pdf 3gn7.pdf 3gn8.pdf 3gn9.pdf 3gn10.pdf
  10. There will be no slugs or buck. Figure ~100 rds for each gun. The totals will vary depending on which options you choose. Last minute registration willl be OK. Just let us know asap. I'll be at Rockcastle next week to finalize the stages.
  11. Any round count available? And max target range? I'd like to know this too. I'm eternally low on ammo. Same here; also can anyone share the schedule for each shooting day? Is it divided over 2 days or 3 days for actual competition? Thx. The match had been changed from a 3 day to a 2 day format. The main match will be Friday and Saturday November 1st and 2nd. The ROs will shoot on Thursday. We will have 10 stages including 4 3GN Classifier stages. If you are a 3GN member shooting the match will provide enough classifiers to receive a classification in Tac Optics, Open, Tac Iron, or Heavy Metal. Charles Sole, 3Gun Nation Regional and Club Series Director, will be present to oversee the Classifier stages. There will be a brief shooters meeting Friday at 8:00 AM in front of the Lodge, We will shoot 6 stages on Friday and 4 on Saturday. The last shot fired should be early Saturday afternoon providing no weather delays or other unforeseen circumstances.
  12. Thanks, I had planned on calling yesterday but was too busy and forgot til late last night, I figured somebody on here would KNOW and help I saw the $2300.00 package , but that was about all I could find. Next question, should I take my mini truck? or just drive the pickup to each stage? from looking at Flash Earth, looks like the stages are pretty spread out, similar to the Ozarks 3G match. We're pretty amped to go to RC, been wanting to go to a match there for a while, just never worked out. You are welcome to bring the mini-truck, however, the pickup truck will work out better. You can drive to the stages. Some stages will be located in Thunder Valley about three miles down the highway from the Lodge.
  13. I'm looking forward to another fun weekend at Rockcastle. Here is the info on the match: The match had been changed from a 3 day to a 2 day format. There are still slots available. See you at the Rock GW
  14. Mark thanks, we are kicking around new ideas for next year, Perhaps expanding the AM match to three days, eight stages, and additional slots, The PRO match could be Thur Fri Sat and the AM match Fri Sat Sun, What do you think? Anyone else have a thought?
  15. I was at the Rock Monday and there are still a few items left in lost & found. I turned in a nice sling Monday that was left in my truck. If you are shooting the Blue Ridge or the 3GN International MG check at the desk for your items. Thanks to all for the many good comments and suggestions. We are already working on next year.
  16. The rule set is silent on shot size. You don't need shot larger than 7 1/2 or 6 this time. Buckshot/heavy loads on close tgts that could cause a safety/damage issue will not be allowed.
  17. If a magnet sticks to your rifle bullet it is a match DQ. The ROs will have magnets at every rifle stage. Don't assume your ammo will pass. Some less expensive factory rifle ammo has a bi-metal jacket so check your ammo. Last year we had five match DQs for bi-metal steel jacket ammo. We would like to have zero DQs this year. Pass this info along to your friends. TKS GW
