  2. I sir...am a jackass. I'm sure that guy is fast too though LMAO --Lanzo yea...I'm not quite on his level just yet.. ..and a few years his junior, but I did walk away with 3rd in my division! Ha. Well...no worries. Anybody who knows me knows i've always been absent minded. Nice job! Same as I meant to say to him goes to you as well. Good luck! --Lanzo
  3. 13 seconds!? You turd. You told me my mid to high 20 was good!! Maybe you just meant "for my skill level" Great job. You ran the stage in your usual fashion See you at Cool Springs. --Lanzo

  5. It was cool to finally get a chance to see you shoot in person (My buddy was pretty stoked to. I think he has a "man crush" on you and Tomasie). I remember watching the Matt Burkett DVD and just sitting there like "Who the "F" is that!?" Your friggin' quick man! Good job and good luck in your future endeavors. --Lanzo
  6. +1. Deciding how you shoot is part of the game. It's a skill that needs to be developed along with everything else. If you're a GM your going to see things much differently then a C. That should be obvious. Perfect example would be the 09 Area 6 stage Don't Blink. I watched Michel double tap the steel on his draw to make it activate everything faster (Tomasie went first and didn't double tap the steel. Most everyone after him double tapped the steel after they saw how long Tomasie had to wait for the last target to activate). I would have NEVER thought of that, but now that I saw it it's in my bag of tricks. I shot it the same way. More time = more hassle. This is competition. If you don't feel like you have enough time then you need to develop the skill. A lot of stages follow patterns and the more you shoot the more you see patterns. Why don't we just give everyone all the time they want to get ready? If you say 5, some people will want 10. If you say 10, some people will want 15. It would never end. Seems like everything is about entitlement these days. Develop the skill. It's part of the sport. If you don't want to do that, maybe you should set up targets yourself and just shoot around at your own pace. Not meant to offend anyone....just my observation. USPSA/IPSC/IDPA is competetive shooting...not T-Ball. --Lanzo

    A welcome home.

That's awesome! I'm in a unit that comes and goes hush hush like and we never see anyone. We just go and then we come back. Sometimes I think it would be kind of nice to have one of those big welcome home things I see every once and a while, but then I just think about how nice it is to be back on US soil. Glad they're back! They deserve all the appluase/hug/handshakes/etc. Tell them I said thanks for their service/sacrifice. --Lanzo Lanzo.. Well I'd be honored to shake you hand and welcome back anytime anywhere.. Thank you. Appreciate that...thanks. The honor would be mine. I just do a job though, same as everyone else. There are much more deserving out there than myself. I especially respect the men that leave their families. When I go, I just have to worry about myself. I couldn't fathom leaving a child/wife behind. Good shooting! --Lanzo
  8. Simply AWESOME. Probably my favorite movie in recent memory....for sure in the top 3. --Lanzo

  10. +1 for FP-10. I use that stuff on everything. LOVE IT!
  11. Very true...but I would really like to EARN the spot. If I shoot nationals I want it to be because I fought my way there, not because I was on a waiting list and am going because somebody else gave away their slot. I'm not cutting on anyone who goes from the waiting list, it's just something I want I guess. See the above comment about the "Young, dumb...." thing. --Lanzo
  12. Appreciate that....thanks. Guess i'm still just "Young, dumb, and full of..." Oh man. Good thing I caught that one. I think I read somewhere about this being a "family forum." Old habits die hard I guess Time to start fighting my way up the ranks! --Lanzo
  13. So I just saw the results from Area 6 this morning and...I missed 1st C Open by less than 1 percent. D@&mnit man! It was my first major ever though so I guess I should take some comfort in being number two. Congrats to Andrew C., whoever you are, you son' bi@ch! Guess I've got to find another way to the nationals. --Lanzo
  14. Cool....awesome job to Susan! Wish I could say the same. Lost my class by less than 1 percent. Guess I'll have to find another way to get a nationals slot! Awesome match though. Definately opened my eyes a bit as far as competing at Major's goes. Now that I've got the first one down i'm ready to start fighting my way up the ladder at more. Great job to everyone involved in bringing us such a great match. Looking forward to taking at least B class next year! Maybe I'll just shoot limited so I can take you down Bobby.

    Buddy's WIN!

Just like to take the chance to say congrats to Alan Lavender for winning CDP Expert at the Alabama IDPA Championship this weekend. Congrats to my buddies Kevin O'Neill and Frank Russo as well for taking 3rd Marksmen SSP and 6th SS SSP respectively. It was Kevin's second IDPA match ever! These guys are my shooting friends (a few of the many, many) and I feel extremely fortunate to have them...especially since they babysit me so much! Good job guys! --Lanzo

    Open Bug

A buddy already snatched me up on that one...but because I'm curious...whatcha got!? --Lanzo Just sold it. It was the JL Hardy gun in the classifieds. Sweet peace indeed! Thanks for the offer. --Lanzo

And you did one heck of a great job at that match, too! It was great shooting with you at Cool Springs, Ben. I know some folks who will be glad to hear you are leaning away from Limited, but now you've made it tougher on me! Got luck w/ your classifiers. See you at A6! Susan Hey! Good to hear from you. I had lots of fun with you and Bobby on Sunday as well! Only thing that would have made it better is if my head hadn't been on fire the whole time. Did it to myself though! Are you guys shooting Friday, Sat, or doing the split? Kevin and I are shooting Friday so we can get in the AL State IDPA match as well. I wanted to shoot that first because you have to pay more attention to rules and then I could have just let loose on Saturday at Area 6. Plus I hear Team Glock is probably shooting Sat....and I wouldn't mind meeting a certain lady from that team! Guess i've got to brain dump on the way back from A6 now! Can't wait for the next match with you and Bobby! --Lanzo

So....last weekend I guess you could say I caught the open bug. Shot my first match with a buddie's gun and had a BLAST! OPEN F'IN RULES!! I don't think I've been this excited to run around and shoot stuff since I took the "NEW SHOOTER" class at my local gun club, EAGC (East Alabama Gun Club). I look forward to getting classified and and go for broke at Area 6. Probably end up being C class as I'm rying to focus on hits in classifiers. Anyway....Not a big deal, but I guess I'm just excited! --Lanzo
  20. So...i'm just feeling compelled right now... Since I've been involved in USPSA and IDPA shooting i've came across some of the coolest people I've ever met. I'm 25...in the military...and in a big "ego" unit that is all about the party. Now I like my brothers and like spending time with them, but I find myself more and more looking forward to the time I get on the range with my shooting friends. Sometimes I catch myself just laughing and having fun cutting on eachother instead of focusing on shooting. Since I've started I now have friends that have lent me DVD's, high end guns/equipment, belts, holsters, one guy gave me an old shooting bag, ammo, even money to shoot matches. I'm out on assignment and I just had a friend send in money for a state match so I didnt have to pay late fees (because I can't mail the payment in out here). His wife is dropping the app in the mail for me. It's unbelieveable to me. I remember back when I very first started I told my Dad that I couldn't believe the people i've met. He simpy stated "Ben...gun people are probably some of the best people you're ever going to come across." I fully and whole-heartedly agree. I look forward to shooting with my new friends for some time. So much so I think about having to leave if I decide not to re-enlist and just how much that would suck. Thank you to my friends. I look forward to making many more as I endeavor to shoot some big matches this year.
  21. Again, like 2006, 2007 & 2008, all potential sponsored shooters & all active duty potential shooters must 'sign in' just like everybody else. In my initial response to everyone who signs in, I explain to everyone how to move off the "general list" & onto the sponsored list or active duty shooter lists. We usually have more active duty shooters who want to attend (and more sponsored shooters who want to attend) than the number of slots available for those two groups. I try really hard to get folks off the waiting lists, but the reality is that this match is very popular. Last year I had 30 shooters still on the waiting list at the start of the match. And I had many drop off the list during the last 3 weeks, because they needed more time to make travel plans. That said, everyone who signed in on the first day (even late) was eventually offered a slot in the match. Folks who signed in two weeks later did not get to shoot. The only exceptions I made were for active duty or activated reservists and guardsmen who were out of the US, in service of our country, during the May sign in. Those guys were bumped to the top of the waiting list. Linda Chico (L-2035) 2009 Ft Benning 3 Gun Statistician Thanks for the quick response. I didn't start shooting until late 2008 so I don't have any experience with the match. I'll be looking forward to the official announcement. Can you add me to the list of people you notify? Hopefully it's not like the three gun and fills up in like 2 minutes or something crazy like that.
  22. Any particular's for Active Duty currently assigned to Ft Benning?
  23. Looks pretty clean man! Nice work. Thanks for the post. Have you tried putting it in a IDPA box yet?
  24. I'm brand new to reloading and want to order some stuff online to exp with to see what I like best. Any idea's for 45 Auto out of a Glock 21SF? Anyone know if anyone is shooting flat nose bullets out of a Glock? What about 230gr vs 200gr vs 185gr bullets? JHP(if you can find them)...CMJ...or FMJ? Are Montana Gold's worth the price difference from zero bullets? What about a reasonable (price wise) way to try as many different loads as possible? I'm just looking for lots and lots of ideas to tinker with to see what I like...snappy vs soft recoil...bullet weight and power factor...etc...problem is...i really dont know jack about reloadiing so I'm being half-way lazy and am relying on the forum to send me on my own personal reloading adventure! Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I'd be reloading on a XL650 using Clay powder. Thanks in advance!
  25. This post is an attempt to cope with the befuddle that I just witnessed and wasted a couple of hours of my life doing so. I just saw possibly one of the worst movies i've seen in a long time...maybe ever...Behind Enemy Lines 3: Columbia. If you have ever served then you'll probably laugh at this movie as much as I did. I am not and would never claim to be a Navy Seal or know exactly what their tactics are. I have however seen/worked with them before and I would think any of them that saw this idiocracy on film would just laugh. Besides that fact that most of the movie defies common logic concernced with any tactical operation. The common falicies are there...absolutely horrible dialogue...guys switching weapons or weapon configs in back to back camera switches...missing glasses scene to scene....none of the reticules match the optics...etc. The HALO scene was a complete joke/fail. It looks like none of these guys have ever held a weapon before. I guess I should have known when I stuck in the DVD and it said WWE films though. But Hell, I thought I would give it a chance. I watched some of the extras and had to just shut it off. A supposed Marine Recon "advisor" explains how they did boat drills and what not. A Seal and a Marine Force Recon sodier are not the same thing. He does look fit, but he describes how these guys went through weeks of weapons training. What a joke. If they went through weeks, my mom could become a military advisor to films. Even more so ridiculous is when this former Recon guy says "they have binocs which are commo." Are you serious!? Truly this isn't what the Marine Core is putting out these days? I could go on and on, but I won't. I just want to try to save some of my gun-loving brethren from suffering the same fate I did. When will we get a movie that is actually somewhat accurate? Where a guy pays attention to detail and makes sure they guys carries the same weapon scene to scene? Is it really that hard? I don't make movies, but these people make a good amount of money and I would think they'd put a bit more pride into something they put out with their name on it. If nothing else maybe when I leave the service I can become a paid military advisor for movies. I sure as hell know I could do a better job then a lot of things i've seen. I can't believe people get paid to put out that kind of crud. I understand that not everythign can be great, but if your going to make a movie that potrays some of the finest soldiers in the world do it with some pride and attention. Do some research...don't make a joke of it.....especially when you claim in the extras how you wanted to make everything as "real" as possible.
