Yes. You just buy the appropriate 10 rd magazine....
Mick
I am new to firearms and recently bought a CZ-452 Varmint. Love it. Looking to get a 9mm pistol for the range, maybe more. My state has a 10-round magazine limit.
Can any of the pistols in the Competition line (SP01 Shadow or Shadow)accommodate a 10-round magazine?

This is a myth. A properly built rifle should function even if the ring gaps are aligned...
Mick
Make sure the gas rings on the bolt are staggered (the gap that is).

You need a specific cat tail for the MTAC. The XTR will not fit. Charlie Drissel makes one for the MTAC as does 3 Gun Stuff...
Mick
Now I need a throw lever for my MTAC. Does anyone know if the XTR models will fit, or any links, info for the MTAC?
Thanks Jeremy

Yes you can, but you should use an adjustable gas system as well to get the full benefit...
Mick
This is my first post, but I've read literally 100s if not thousands of post here. That for the education! As such, I think I know the answer to my question, but I want to know for sure.
Can I use a light weight bolt carrier with standard (non-adjustable) mid-length gas system? I don't get to shoot often, so I'd hate to waste a day --likely months from now-- finding out that the components I assembled don't work well together.

So no chance of 1 true 1X-6X?
Mick
Got to look at the 3.5-10 and 6.5-20 today...NICE!
Is there a whole new line of MTAC scopes??
Yes.
The MTAC line will be unveiled at SHOT tomorrow. The 1-4 MTAC was released early since the Tac30s got sold out. The 1-4 MTAC you all have seen. There will also be a 1.5-6 that is the same as the 1-4 except for the power range. The next three, 3.5-10, 4.5-14 and 6.5-20 are aimed at the tactical market and have adjustable parallax. The reticle is the G2B Mil-Dot reticle and the knobs are new Mil-Rad knobs with finger-adjustable/resettable dials.

As an RO at SMM3G, I've seen the JP pins fall out in the middle of a stage....

There is also a Versamax Tactical version coming out, with 24" barrel, extended charging handle, fibre optic front sight and large bolt release. That's the one I'd be looking at or start modding a 26" version as shown above...

Is that an XL handguard on an 18" Nordic? if so, looks just like mine!
:-)
Mick
I enjoyed it so much with my 10/22 that I'm trying to figure out how to swing a CMMG .22 upper that would duplicate what I use in 3-gun.
I love my NC22 and it's been flawless for me. It's a pretty close match to my 3 gun upper (top).

A 3oz buffer is a standard carbine buffer.
Mick
You said 3oz buffer, do you think the LMOS carrier will run ok with the carbine buffer and spring. I'll be using the vltor emod kit. And, is the difference in felt recoil that much different? I've shot rifle length gas with an SJC comp and I just can't imagine a gun shooting much softer than that.

I'm introducing my 13 year old son to 3 gun and picked up a Remington 11-87 Compact Youth model for him.
So far, I've narrowed and modified a DMW EZ loader to fit, added a Choate +4 tube (total capacity 8+1) and extended charging handle and put on a set of Williams fibre optic slug sights.
The gun comes with a Modified flush mount choke installed. I'm thinking that the Improved cylinder might be a better choice.
Any thoughts on the best choke for 20ga?
Also, what about an extended choke? Go with a Briley X2 or something else?

A standard carbine buffer is pretty much the same weight as a JP LMOS rifle buffer. My factory JP rifle with 16" barrel and mid-length gas system and LMOS and carbine buffer tube come with, you got it, a JP carbine buffer spring and a standard carbine buffer.

Sometimes you need to remove a few thou of the back of the trigger to fit to the safety. I've only ever had to do this once. The main use is to remove a small amount of material off the nose of the disconnector to get it timed correctly. Typically takes a few passes with the sand paper (400 or 800 grit) to get it set just right.
Mick
OP, I have installed multiple JP triggers with nothing more than a few pieces of sandpaper and the edge of my workbench.I've installed a number of JPs, too, and haven't yet found a need for sandpaper. What have I been missing?

I have a grams kit in one of my SPO1 mags. It adds an extra round to the capacity. Only problem is I cannot adjust the follower so that an empty mag activates the slide stop.
Anyone know the trick?

The 18" Noveske NST "light" barrel is 32oz, not 20oz...

My brother needs some 10rd mags for his large frame .40 Witness (Australian XL4 model).
I noticed that CDNN has the mags in stock for $20 each.
They are >$100ea back in Australia.
http://www.cdnninvestments.com/eaawifu4010m.html
Are these the correct mags (even though the image is wrong)?
Or should I just order the mags from EAA ($25ea) and send them to him?

CZ web store is running a sale on the 16rd mags. 3 for $85...

And this is more than likely to bite you in a big match, LOL!
Buy a used Burris TAC 30 and PEPR or Larue mount for the .22 upper and be done with it, IMO...
Mick
Thank you all for the info, sounds like I can save a few bucks then by using the same scope/mount.
Yep just write down the adjustments for each rifle and return it back when you change it back over.

no ignition issues with a JP hammer and trigger with yellow springs.

I have a 9mm Colt AR-15 that I use in local subgun matches (semi-auto division) and was wondering if anyone with a 9mm AR pattern rifle had tried JP yellow hammer and trigger springs to improve the factory trigger pull.
Does anyone know if the 9mm hammer spring plays any role in the blowback action of a 9mm AR?

Weight is about 11-12 oz. OD is also smaller than 2". About 1.7" or so.
I chose this handguard specifically for my 13 year old son and his hand size...
Mick
Maybe. How is it for weight - and is it significantly smaller in OD than a standard forend?
-
Maybe that's why I was able to pick up a Duo Tone Shadow Custom for $475 a few weeks ago? Less than 6 months old and not even broken in and the silver finish was coming off in spots...

Troy BUIS for me, but they are redundant on a 3 gun rifle as Kelly has said.
If I ever get a 9mm SBR together, I'll throw them on that...

Maybe try a Samson Evolution. Cleaner lines than the TRX Extreme without the "cheese grater" feel...

It would seem some of these might have a "break in" period where the springs need to settle and align. There are a few reports where folks haven't been able to load more than 20rds or 40 rds into the mag, and then when reassembling they run fine. Another guy I spoke to said he put in some C-mag graphite and his ran fine after that.

ARMS aimpoint mount losing zero?

I've had ARMS mounts come loose before. Never had a Larue mount come loose. Even if the Larue came loose, it can be adjusted tighter anyway, unlike the ARMS...
