  1. Mewbee to AR-15 with a DPMS 3 G-1 18" heavy barrel feels that the rifle is a little front heavy and would like to add tungsten buffer to balance it and reduce felt recoil. I would like to know which drop in buffers you would recommend and why ( Affect on reliability, recoil etc. ). Also would you recommend changing the spring ? Any and all information on improving the gun will be appreciated.
  2. Not all DPMS' barrels are threaded. I also have a DPMS on order. I placed the order for the Panther 3G-1 about four months ago at my local gun shop in Florida. I am giving it till the end of January. If it is not delivered by then I will go with something else possibly a Rainier ( Sp?). They have one that just came out that is a great deal.
  3. I just purchased a DPMS 3G 1 AR-15 and am considering the Burris Fullfield MTAC 30. I would like to know the pros and cons. I mostly will be shooting 50 to 100 yards and maybe 250. I was going to purchase an EOtech until I found out that reliability is a concern. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
  4. This is a newbee as you will see by the question I am asking. But I am a quick lerner......LOL ! I recall reading that a rifle chambered for 556 can also shoot 223. Please shed some light as to whether I am correct. I ordered a DPMS 3G1 and I failed to clarify this. Any and all information will be gratly appreciated.
  5. I am a newbee when it comes to AR-15's but eager to learn. I recently purchased a DPMS Panther 3 G. I would like to know if the buffer and bolt carriers play an important role in reduction of recoil and if so which you would recommend not only to reduce recoil but also to possibly enhance performance ( Quicker cycling etc. ). I have already purchased a Battle compensator. Any other recommended improvements that can be made to this rifle would also be appreciated.
  6. I am an inexperienced AR-15 shooter-newbie............Would like to have suggestions as to which flip up/down sights are best to install on AR 15 to have as backup for EOtech. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  7. A long tome a go I used red colored recoil rod buffers that were thicker than the ones being sold.I forgot the manufacturer. Does anyone know where I can purchase these for an STI 40 caliber Eagle ? They were extremely good quality.
  8. Would like to know which is your favorite optic sight the EOtech or the Aim Point for an AR-15.
  9. Would you consider sharing your load ?
  10. I would like to hear from experienced reloaders as to their favorite major loads for a 6 inch STI Eagle. Please break down the information as much as possible ( Weight, type of bullet etc.). I would also like to hear why they may have preference for a special powder. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
  11. After trying some of my friends 40 cal reloads I would like to purchase 40 caliber 220 gr plated bullets. He had purchased the bullets a long time ago and doesn't know any company presently selling them. I would really appreciate it if anyone out there can tell me where I can purchase above. Pumagsd@yahoo.com
  12. I appreciate your response however I am looking for a soft 40 cal 200 gr major load. Again, thank you anyway................
  13. Point me in the right direction - reloading pages where ?
  14. I would like to find a reliable soft shooting 40 cal 200 gr load that makes major for my 6" Eagle with a lighten slide. Any and all information will help.
  15. Thanks......I was confused after hearing those shooters speaking.
  16. When moving do you look at coming targets and then bring the gun to sight aligment or do you maintain site alignmentduring transition as much as possible ? I always tend to look ahead and then bring the gun however I overheard some shooters talking and they said that they maintain sight alignment as much as possible in transition. They were saying that by doing this it is much faster. I am confused !
  17. Foremost, you are OK. Everything thing else can be replaced. I had a similar problem with a Glock and what I still think was a double charge. I now shoot an STI Eagle 6" 40 caliber. I have not gotten into reloading as of yet. But eventually I will have to reload. These guns are not made for factory loads. First for them to function at 100% longer loads are much better. Then of course custom loads can be so much more efficient. So everything points at reloading............. Glad that your are in one piece ! Pumagsd@yahoo.com
  18. If you have a Glock or MP discard the 200 and/or 220. These heavier loads work much better in an STI, SV etc. 220's are amost impossible to get these days. A friend of mine who has been loading for years swears by the 220's. Where did you get them ? Pumagsd@yahoo.com
  19. Opened up the magazine catch hole( right side of magazine ), opened up the magazine lips/beveled the end of the lips and the SV magazine work on my STI mags ! However, why go through the hassle ? If you have an STI gun buy STI mags.
  20. Not a single cartridge will leave the magazine to the chamber.................magazine will hold 19 ! The gun will work with the STI magazine that came with the gun just fine so the gun is not the problem.
  21. These SVI 40 Caliber mags unfortunately do have the logo on the side. They have trouble sitting but I understand that this can be fixed with a file. However they will not load a single round. Consequently they require extensive modifications to the tube. Again these are the new magazines that SV just started very recently to produce. So everyone out there be warned not to purchase new SV magazines for any gun other than SV's anymore. I will just try to sell the tubes and salvage some of the cost and keep the DP basepads and Grams followers. I thank everyone for taking the time to respond.
  22. I just purchased these SVI/Infinity magazines - NEW. So far the cost to have someone modify these mags is prohibitive. I am better off selling them for 50% of cost and buying STI mags. Anyone want to buy five mags ? Just joking, I do not want to violate any rules !
  23. were they new or old? I just purchased the mag tubes for a new STI.
  24. Purchased SVI magazine tubes to use in STI gun. Has anyone recently purchased SVI tubes for an STI ? If such what issues did you have and what did you do ( modifications ) ?
  25. Has anyone purchased SVI magazine tubes lately to use with an STI gun ? I am having difficulties with the lack of compatability with these tubes and the STI even following previously mentioned modifications. I think that the new tubes have different specs. I purchased the DP basepads and Grams springs/followers. If anybody has had a similar experience I would appreciate it very much if they would tell me how I can fix the problem.
