Kurt, I was just poking fun. My first 3 gun was at the Interlake Rod and Gun Club in Renton, WA way back in 1985. While you and I may have been doing this forever there are many who are just starting out and one of the most amazing things about the internet is how it allows new shooters (or anyone new to any activity) to access the experience of those experts who wish to share it. You are correct that you don't need a pistol sub-forum, but honestly, you don't need any of these forums, if anything, the forums need you, and your experience gained in your 25 years of competition.
As for the "professed expert" on the internet, all forums have this problem. However, the more specific the forum, the easier it is to see who the true experts are. Try to learn about 3 gun on AR15com or The High Road or any other general firearms forum and caveat emptor, but spend an hour reading here and it becomes pretty apparent who the knowledgable members are. Is a Pistol sub-forum needed? No, but it would be helpful to a lot of people and I don't think adding it would effect anything or anyone in a negative manner. Just my two cents, earned over the last 30 years or so.

Crap, Ruger 6.5 here I come!

WTF......I shoot 40 major in 3-gun. Out of the same pistol that I use for limited major in 1/3 gun matches. I think you are swinging a wide loop there comonchero.
See Kurt, had there been a pistol sub-forum you would have learned years ago that you could load 40 minor, or shoot a nine, in 3 gun. Knowledge is power!

There's nothing wrong with having a 3 gun pistol specific link in the forum, and it would be helpful for new shooters with specific equipment questions. Sure, they could ask them in in the Technical Forum, but better, quicker and more specific answers could be found here in this forum if there where a pistol section. Also this sub-forum would act as a repository for 3 gun specific pistol questions that would get quickly lost in the 1911 & Factory Pistol sub forums in the Technical Forum. A 3 Gun Pistol sub-forum hurts no one, has the potential to help new shooters and gets in the way of nothing. It's a good idea.

For a Benelli? Italian Gun Grease, of course!
The CAS folks used to talk about their Uberti repro guns coming lubed with "Olive Oil"
Seriously... use some lube...Mobil 1, Breakfree CLP, etc, ,,,kinda like Kurt mentioned something is better than nothing
I once lubed a Beretta 92 with Windex. It actually worked!

Round count per person......we need all the help we can get so bring 175 rounds per team! This will help out standings for sure! Bwah ha ha.
Look at it this was: 175/3 shooters is 58.3 rounds per shooter. That leaves 58.3/8 stages so you only will have 7.28 rounds to shoot per stage.
Round count is per person. Bring extra!
The listed round count is per team, not per person.
Dean said 175 pistol +175 rifle +175 shot +10 slugs. That equals 535 rounds for the team, divided by 8 stages equals 66.8 rounds per stage.
That said, since you can not be sure who will be shooting what on each state we always bring the max round count, per person. Better to finish the day with lots of left over ammo, than to be scrambling at the end.

Well crap, another thing to spend money on.
You have just defined the essence of 3 gun.

Hey, try it already! If it doesn't work out you can always put a blank in the dove tail slot and drive on! Hell you can even drill and tap the blank for a mid rib bead again...no down side. Quit treating your shotgun like it is an altar, it is a tool that can, and will, over it's life time, be hacked on tuned up and ultimately destroyed

Another vote for the 1301. The guns not too heavy, 21" barrel for balance and is very reliable with light loads. Plus can be set up with a short length of pull without needing a gunsmith.

Until my hands gave out I did all my checkering by hand. Afterwords I sent it all to EGW when they offered that service. Jim was the guy there who did it and I can recomend his work without hesitation.

Wanna change your game??? Never miss and target, nail your reloads, dope a course of fire and know how to move and shoot.
Wanna know how to do all that??? Take a class from Red Neck Tactical.
Practice, the last refuge of those who aren't smart enough to find a way to purchase that next level of skill!

My son loves his, and he hit the 450 yard target at Bushmaster Tarheel with it. Once you know your hold overs, or what the distances the hash marks in your scope are in relation to the load your using, hitting at distance just becomes a matter of practice.

Perhaps it would be better to mail it to Voodoo with a little note on how it doesn't work.
This is the common sense kind of advice that will get you banned from the internet.

Excellent job at taking a competition technique and adapting it to a defensive use. I'm impressed.

I excersized! Ok, technically I dropped my pen, but I did bend down and picked it up!

Matt, I tend to play it safe when it comes to rules that can get you dq'ed. That rule would be enough to keep me from using any Federal buckshot in a match that didn't allow it. Round count is low enough, and buckshot cheap, enough that I would just buy Remington or Winchester.

What are the "great innovations" over the last 5 years?
Well, the Browning A-5 was certainly a game changer!.
I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself.
-
Cool. We don't use much buckshot in matches out here (I bought 20 boxes of Winchester 9 pellet Ranger in 2012 and still haven't used all of it). I was wondering if there was a safety issue or something. I think I used three boxes at the 2013 Rockastle Benelli, two boxes in a local match in 2014 and one box at this years Bushmaster Tarheel, so six boxes in three years.

Mark or anyone,
What are the issues with flight control wad buckshot?

A 9 round tube is a bad idea if you are going to be loading duces or quads. An even number of shells in your hand, and an odd number in the tube, means you'll often be left holding one round that won't fit in the gun. Also with a loaded chanber start you can load two more after the buzzer. I tried 9+ when I got my VM but quickly changed to 10+, it just works better.
-
Awesome gun Pat! I bet it's almost as old as you are!
Tim
If you are going to load weakhand you can, but if you are loading deuces or quads some cutting of the receiver will
be needed.

If we only had a pistol sub-forum. I bet you could find the answer there.
