  1. I would like to see the rule for tac-ops go back to 8+1 only, for no reason other than I think the current guns with 10 and 12 round tubes look anything but 'tactical'. I'm not saying I think 3 gun is a practical sport but I do think a certain connection to the principle that the guns used reflect the defensive origins of the sport should be maintained. A 26" barreled shotgun with a 12 round tube is hardly that. Of course it's nothing I'm going to loose any sleep over.

  2. I sight my rifle in with 69gr Remington match and use it for any stage with steel farther than 200 yards. I use PMC Bronze 55gr for any stage were all of the targets are 200 yards and closer. My gas system is set for the PMC.

  3. I understand the sentiment, but I have run Limited and or Heavy Metal for a Decade, and both have nearly died from lack of participation.

Heavy is still limping along at a couple of matches and Limited has made a comeback with the intro of 1x optics.

"Irons Period" means it will go back to the slow decay again.

Oh and I have no problem shooting Irons "against" 1x optics...it ain't no thang.

Did allowing 1X and non magnified optics save Limited, or did it just allow it to die in a less obvious way?

  4. For me, these are the four most important attributes of a three gun rifle.

    1. Scope. Shooting is a visual game. The better you can see the target the better you will do. Wide field of view, excellent clarity and generous eye relief make seeing the target easy, and seeing the target is the first step in hitting it.

    2. Trigger. Once you can see the target a good trigger makes it easier to hit. Light pull weight and a good re-set allow for rapid engagement of targets.

    3. Compensator/Muzzle Break. A good comp allows you to better utilize you scope and trigger when engaging targets rapidly.

    4. Barrel. I think 200 yards is the distance at which the quality of your barrel begins to become important. If you happen to shoot in an area where 200 yards is the maximum range then any decent factory barrel is good enough. If your local meta is 300 yards and out, then a quality match barrel becomes almost mandatory.

Anyway, this is my opinion, based on my years of competition. The experience of others will of course produce different results, but the above is a good place to start.

  5. I haven't seen many threads in the past year about the JM Pro not running.

    Just saying.

I think that's because a lot of people have stopped using them. I'm not even being sarcastic, I've talked to several people in the past year who have dumped them.

Pretty much this. With the advent of the Vinci, Browning A5, Beretta 1301 and the Stoger I see a lot less of the Mossbergs, and SLPs for that matter.

  6. Given how brief the dwell time is on the geometry, I can't see how an adjustable gas block will help. rifle-length gas systems on this short of a barrel have had problems being natively under-gassed, from my understanding. I think you would be wasting y our money *and* adding a more complex failure point in your rifle operating system.

What you say sounds like it would be correct but my own experiences differ. I am currently running a 16" rifle gas barrel and have had no issues with under gassing. I started with an 18" rifle gas barrel and had ADCO cut it back to 16", so the gas port is set for a 18" dwell time, not 16". Like you I assumed an adjustable gas block would be a waste of time but when I put the barrel on the gun all I had on hand was a Seekins adjustable so I used it. As it turns out I was able to turn it down quite a bit. My complete system is a 16" rifle gas Mega Arms barrel, Seekins adjustable gas block, JP JPTRE-2S comp, JP LMOS Stainless bolt carrier and Vltor A-5 recoil system. I tune my guns to PMC 55gr ball as this is the softest recoiling of the ammo I use.

  7. Bacus, 16" rifle gas? You sure about that? I've never even seen one for sale. I do own a 16.5" rifle gas, however, and like it a lot.

Sorry for the slow response. I bought an 18" Mega Arms rifle gas barrel and sent it to ADCO and had them cut it to 16.1". But I would genericly refer to all 16.something barrels as 16".
