  1. I can't remeber the exact load but Terry O'Hara let me try a few 250 gr .45 loads through his pin guns, one hybrid, one comp and I didn't have much problem with recovery and they were pretty stiff. But with the slower push type of recoil it shot fairly quick, granted aside from practicing with Terry I havn't done much pinning. Did beat Alice with a shotgun on a steel side event once though, man she was not impressed...lol. Pat

Me too I like the people in here, I like having to think of questions and answers for things I've taken for granted, forgot about, or never considered. I like the fact that despite having a bitch board (Hate thread) nobody gets too political or nasty. I'm learning so much here! Pat
  3. Is a red dot allowed on shotguns for Team Challenge? How 'bout Sporting Clays? I'm not too up on the shotgun sports right now (at least as far as rules go...hehe) But I've been busting clays with one, on my IPSC pump gun, and I like it. Pat

Doncha hate it when symbols become cliche's Pat
  5. Thats what its called! Thanks dude! I've been trying to remember that name. Occam's Razor, cool, I heard it first on 'The Simpsons' That Lisa is one sharp chick...lol Pat
  6. The first sentence answers your question. You can't 'try hard' this will keep you from shooting at max speed. You gotta relax. Read through the forums one thread has this topic covered but basically you want to let the gun shoot fast not make it. Pat
  7. Word about those flames. That is my shootoff's load; a 124 gr tmj bullet with 8.0 gr of 3N37. My current IPSC load is 9.5 of 3N37 with a 115 gr Rem tmj bullet (don't duplicate without starting lower my gun needs a bit more powder than some). The flames are even bigger! Those Photos were taken from a Sony digital camera right after the PPC indoor Provincials. I shot that gun and load in the match (they have an Open Division here in Ontario) I wonder why none of the regular PPC guys wanted to shoot beside me on the line? I was left all alone at the end of the line! Pat
  8. That'd be David right, I know him well, we shot a few matches together. Wen't for a tour of the Hoover dam with him too...almost got us stuck in the elevator down...lol Pat
  9. You pay for yours?! I tell them what its for and they think it's pretty cool so they give me the ends of rolls for free...lol Pat
  10. Yeah, I kinda got the same stumpy legs and long back too! Pat
  11. The only thing I can add at this point has more to do with brain fade. I was working out a practice stage much like this one day and I decided to use a funky pattern because I thought it was most efficient. But time after time I'd blow it and lose the order. My eyes were telling me to shoot it one way and my brain wanted to do the plan. It got frustrating as I was practicing with a shooter I normally beat and I couldn't catch him. So finally I gave in and just shot the way my eyes and body were telling me to do it. I never blew a run after that and smoked his butt. So the moral here is sometimes you gotta go with the simple answer. A cool plan may be screamin' fast but if you can't keep it in your head it won't matter. Think simple, do simple. Then again sometimes we just think too damn much and we should just shut up and shoot...lol Pat
  12. We gotta shoot together sometime dude! Pat
  13. Matt Mclearn taught me how to shoot on the move and he was the smoothest I ever saw. I'm actually fairly natural at this but Todd told me that it will be an important skill to work on in the days ahead. Sound like most of the big guys are using it more, especially with the more open courses of fire mandated by the new rule book. However I'm always looking for good drills. I'm going out tonight to work on my 'mojo' but I'll list Todds drill tomorrow. I visualize (not the right word because its more of a feel) the soles of my feet being round, and i feel for the roll from heel to toe. Pat
  14. Yeah I use this as a tension check drill. If you get tight, you lose! And if you're going to tighten up its gonna be here. Pat
  15. Haven't tried it but I've had good reports, I think its the stuff made by the same guy as Pro'grip which I like. I use spray on Slick-50 myself. Pat
  16. I'm not gonna ask how old your girlfriend is then...lol Pat (Edited by Pat Harrison at 3:18 pm on May 18, 2001)
  17. O.k. my order would be 2 3 1 4 5, on first bank Left to right is comfortable for me. since distances are not listed the far target #2 offers about as difficult a shot as partial #5 And I'd like to leave on a close one like that, I wouldn't leave on a plate. you'd have to watch it fall to be sure before leaving, penalties suck! Depending on angles I'd likely shoot middle left to right to 7 8 9 6 10 11 Entering last box I would shoot 12 13 14 16 15. Enter on close and work out. Pat
  18. Now you tell me! ...lol Pat
  19. On the three target, it was in a match but I checked, it was hands above shoulders. draw was 0.82, first split was slower than rest not sure why they went .18, .13, .12, .13, .13. On four targets it was .86, .15, .17, .15, .17, .16, .18, .14 I just did a similar 4 target string in a match (some had hard cover, one had a no shoot, and it was over a low wall) you had to run up about 5-6 yds first. My time was 2.96 but I didn't get to see all the splits but they were in the .13 - .15 range obviously the time to first shot was slower due to run. Pat
  20. I've actually done a variation of that but using poppers at the start and end. It is a great drill though. Pat
  21. Mike you find the date and let me know...BMW course is supposed to be very good Pat
  22. I'm waiting on the new Nissan Sentra SE-R spec V. It'll run circles around Integra Type R's Pat
  23. You sound like my best friend/shooting partner he used to road race bikes too. Unfortunatly now he doesn't walk so good but he's hell on steel! He got me hooked on watching racing. I'll mostly watch road races either cars or bikes (big fan of British Touring Cars...like IPSC on wheels...lol) but I always tune in for the Dakar Rally (any race where landmines are a serious threat is real racing...lol) Pat
