  1. Don't forget the grip unless you like the plastic stock grip. This is good stuff: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=91586
  2. Atlanta Arms & Ammo is great stuff. If you get the used brass which is the cheapest way to go just make sure to check all the head stamps. I have had a few .357 SIG rounds mixed in with the .40's. It's difficult to tell the difference unless you look at the head stamp. One of these rounds caused my gun to seize up in a match so I make sure to check them all before I shoot any. This is probably good practice for any reloaded ammo.
  3. The Motorola Droid is an awesome phone! Not sure why so many people don't like the keyboard. I use it over the touch screen version any day. Also found that I like using my voice as a keyboard. The voice recognition is pretty good along with the app that allows you to use it for anything that you would need a keyboard for. This assumes I am somewhere that I don't mind talking to my phone.
  4. I did play with this technique a little but it seemed awkward. I was pointing the gun down so maybe moving the gun up a little will help. Weak hand is not an option because all of my shells are strapped to my weak hand or on the side of the gun. Was also thinking about wrapping something around the barrel like some chemical bonding rubberized tape or racquetball grip tape or something like that but not sure if the barrel will get too hot for the tape.
  5. Got a new shotgun with a smooth exposed barrel on the top. Noticed it gets almost too hot to touch after a few rapid fire drills. The hottest part of the barrel happens to be where I want to hold it during a reload. Curious how others have solved this problem?
  6. Thanks for the explanation. It makes sense, I have read the same posts you have about dot size = group size so that's why I was curious. I am also finding out the downside of optics vs. irons having to wait for my breathing to slow down after walking to the targets at 200 yds.
  7. Thanks for the info. Probably have to stick with the 55gr. ammo but I am curious how it will work out to 300 yards. Between 100 and 200 the zero is almost identical ~1" drop. Just need to get to the 300 yard range when it's open.
  8. I am kind of new to Rifle shooting with a scope but doesn't a 2moa dot cover 6 inches at 300 yards? Not doubting your results but 2.4" at 300 with that setup seems too good. Is this an expected group size and if not what would be a common group size at 300 yards with a 4x 1-2 moa setup?
  9. The barrel is a Rock River Arms 16" CAR Heavy chrome-moly 1:9.
  10. Was trying out some .223 50gr Federal JHP ammo and noticed it was hitting the target 4 inches to the right vs. my FMJ 55gr. ammo. I might have expected a vertical shift but not horizontal. It was a pretty calm day, shooting from a bench at 200 yards using a 4x scope mounted on a AR. My shooting position was identical. Any ideas why this would happen?
  11. At the top of the Rifle-Technical forum there is chart with most of the scopes that are popular in 3-gun. I would start there, figure out what your price range is then use search to find out more info for a scope in your price range. Most of the info. will be in the Rifle section so you can concentrate your search there. Scope Chart
  12. Just finished sighting in my new TR24-3G. It's mounted on a stock RRA short barrel with collapsible stock and Burris mount. Very impressed with the results. Also impressed with the 1x performance shooting with both eyes open. Used MiWall bulk ammo. In the pic attached there are three groups of three rounds each at 100 yards (bench rest w/front sandbag). The last group was actually 4 rounds with one flyer, will blame that on the ammo or me. Made two adjustment to the scope before shooting the last group in the middle. So far very happy with this setup but might change the stock to something fixed.
  13. This is a new scope that will be on the market soon. They have it listed at $599 but think the street price will be $499. Vortex
  14. Can't see what's not to like? Seems like a step ahead in my opinion. Having created a forum myself I know it can be a lot of work so thank you for putting in the time and keeping it up to date!!
  15. I just spent a couple of weeks trying to figure out what optic to get for 3 gun. You can read for days on this subject just on this forum alone but there are other forums with lots of info as well. It really boils down to how much you can spend and how much you want to spend. Once you figure that out you can narrow down your choices. Also time frame you want to buy plays a role. There is a lot of new stuff announced but not readily available yet like the Gen2 Burris XTR, the Vortex optic and others. I finally decided on the TR24-3G based on the availability, features, reviews, and cost.
  16. I think the one Natchez has in stock is the GEN1 model. The GEN2 is model# 201904. Mark Anyone know the difference between the Gen1 and Gen2 models? Think the Gen1 model# is 201902
  17. Meopta Scope Info. "Meopta's Advanced Illumination Technology powers a 2 MOA dot at seven levels of intensity"
  18. Didn't realize the forum was putting those in automatically. Thank you for the help.
  19. Tried a few times to remove this extra "-----" line from my signature but it doesn't seem to go away and it doesn't show up when I go to edit my signature. Any ideas?
  20. Midway has this scope listed on their website for $499 but not available until the end of March. Would love to try it out as my first 3-gun scope but not sure I can wait that long.
  21. I am in the same boat, but I know one thing and that is I don't want to spend 7-800 on a scope then another 1-200 on the mount so I am thinking of trying out the weaver 1-3 or one of the cheaper 1-4's. After reading all of the threads on this topic no one has convinced me that spending that kind of money is going to really improve my results a whole lot. I am thinking that spending 3-400 for scope and mount should be good for at least a couple of years. Also, keep in mind if you want to sell something on this forum you need 50 posts which for me will take ~2 years or more.
  22. Thanks for the useful info. It makes sense to keep the scope as close to the bore as possible but my main objective is to have three AR's in one so when I took the scope off I could have the stock or EOTech setup. I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a flip-up front site that would work with the rear Dominator site then take the Dominator rail off when I want to use the scope. I am still curious if anyone has experience using a low power scope mounted above the stock front sight? The scope would be a 1-4x so I would assume you would still see the front sight in the scope which would probably be distracting.
  23. There is an English link at the top left corner of the page after you hit this all of the directions on the site will show up in English.
  24. This is probably the best way. If you don't like the exposure of youtube and you want better video quality there are other sites available like Blip.tv Also, once you have your video on a site like Blip.tv it is easy to embed that video to your personal website. I assume you can do this with youtube video as well but not sure.
  25. After shooting my first 3-Gun match with stock irons I am thinking about putting a scope on my AR. It's a stock RRA AR with the Dominator 2 rail. The Dominator 2 is basically another rail on top of the standard rail with the RRA rear sight mounted to it. It's designed for an EOTech setup which would be nice but don't think adequate for 3-Gun. Would it be advisable to mount a scope on this rail with some high rings and keep the iron sight setup or should I remove the rail and cutoff or replace the front sight with a gas block? My preference is to keep the iron sights on the gun but just not sure if that will work. I have almost no experience with scopes so any input would be appreciated.
