Time will tell, haters will hate.

I'm 30 years old, so I've got a long road ahead, but if guns are still legal when I'm in my 50's or 60's, I plan to have an RV with full reloading setup that I'll drive from state to state. It's a dream...
Yep, my dream also.
-
Now that is funny.

A lot of truth there Joe.
-
Yep, take a barge.
-
We're thinking about getting a 5th wheel, and eventually shoot in each state. Anyone one else do this?

Slow and large.
Hey, you talking about me?

Timing is everything! I went to http://mod1firearms.com today, and basically Pike was getting ready for the Pro-AM. I talked to him about milling both the G21 and G19 for a RMR. He talked me into just doing the G21.
Then he said, "I’ll give you a call in a few hours and you can pick it up.” Wow, that blew me away. Not only did he turn down some work, he did almost an immediate turn around. I took it out to BGSL and just sighted it in, not shooting for >two weeks did a job on me.
So, a bunch of dry firing for me.
Thanks Pike!
The weights below from a USPS electronic scale.
G21 + RMR + empty 13rd mag = 30.2 oz.G21 + RMR + empty 13rd mag + Tungsten Guid Rod = 31.7 ozSo I could add 3 oz. if I wanted to. -
I'm not sure what I'm going to shoot, either a G19 or G21. So tomorrow I'm taking both to Mod1 to mill the slides for the RMR.

Has anyone heard the term, "Kicking a Dead Horse"?
-
I've put thousands 200 SWC and 230 RN thru my G21 and G41, one pass with a Bore Snake and clean as new.
-
I'm thinking of using either my G21 or my G30SF. Will I handicap myself with the G30SF in Carry Optics?

Area Director email, good idea. may email them all since the frame mount I'm refering to is in almost every state in the country. And most of them are owned by USPSA members.
'Our' Forum, uspsa.org? Not following you, I'm not aware (or can't see it) of a Forum on the USPSA.org website.
Thanks for the thoughts.
Sure, go to 'Member Support', then then look at the bottom left.

zhunter, thanks, I was wondering if I had missed the point of the previous 70 pages of the conversation.
Beyond that, I think 'Production Optics, is the already, inevitable arrived future that we can still define and shape. I'm not in agreement with limiting the division to slide only optics at all. that's like putting watered-down gas in Porsche! Anyone that thinks this is missing the whole point of adding an optic to a production gun. IF The idea is to add an optic to a production (stock gun (ie leaning towards tactical/carry)), why does it have to ONLY be slide mounted. There are advantages (tactical & competitive) to mounting it to the frame. The slight added weight decreases recoil and improves target trackability, just for starters.
Why don't you email your Area Director, and post this on 'Our' Forum, uspsa.org?

A couple of years ago, I purchased a Zev Open Glock. When I finally got the PF high enough for the comp to work, the recoil did a job on my arthritic hands and wrists. I didn't try shooting Open with minor PF, that would be foolish.
Now I need to decide which one of my Glocks, I'm putting the RMR on. Right now I shoot Production with either my G21, G30, or G41. I also have a G17 and G19, but really like the larger holes.
I'm looking forward to shooting this Division.

Always bring at least double the ammo you'll need. You put enough pressure on yourself, you don't need to be worrying that you have enough ammo.

USPSA's Production Gun list is in the form of a table which makes it a little tricky to search for gun weights, below are links to a XLSX and NUMBERS (Apple) format files that can be sorted by Column C (Weight) and find your ideal gun for Carry Optics:
Thanks for taking the time to do this Paul, especially the Numbers version.

From Rick Steele, Area 5 Director
"We talked about this at the Board meeting. We are trying to make it easy for the shooter to try the Division without putting out a lot of money. If you machine the slide for the dot and then remove the dot, you will need to fill the machined area with a plate of similar material (steel in most cases) to make it look like a production gun. That will probably depend on how deep you machine the slide. Troy McManus will be the deciding factor as we walk through the issues in this new division.
Since this is a provisional division the ruling on that may change but that is what the Board talked about at the meeting. You can also use a dovetail mount. It will make the dot a little higher than normal sights but it is very easy to return it to a Production gun."
