  1. I almost do not know where to start. My college professor did a lot of work in Iceland, so I learned about more about the place. Additionally, during my service time we had a sister base in Iceland and some of those folks got shipped to my base.

They pretty much price gouged the American servicemen.

Horse meat is like goat, lamb or beef to the rest of us.

Genetically Iceland is the most pure place on earth. Tons of bioresearch is done there. THey can trace their families back hundreds and hundreds of years. The language is very pure also.

Women used to get paid to have a baby. No stigma attached to single mothers. The women are unbelievably beautiful. They are very independent as is almost everyone in that nation. Remember their gunboats firing on other country's fishing vessels. They are kind of like the John Wayne toilet paper, they do not take S#%%it off of anyone. Well their women are like that also. Be real with them and you will do fine, try to play them and they will ignore you.

Go and have a great time.

  2. Does anyone know who makes the reduced size targets and poppers. I want to set them up in a small room I would like not to be overwhelmed by using a standard size target.

I saw them somewhere but can not remember where?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  3. I paid my wife 3 months alimony. She had a kid by her first hubby and needed some dough. So I was easy. She tried to nail me with "I put you through Graduate School." I just had to laugh at that one. I showed her my income prior to our marraige, during, and after. My standard of living acutally dropped by being married to her. No more 30 days of skiing each year, while we were married.

BTW: She married her 3rd husband the month after her alimony ended!

The divorce was painful but worth it. The money albeit very little was an easy payment. My heart goes out to those who had to loose half of everything they worked for.

As a side note: My good friend's wife was doing a physican. My friend found the physican's love letters to her and held them ransom until she signed the settlement papers. The doc had a 25 year marriage and was in a panic about his settlement after it all come out. My friend dodged a big bullet.

  4. I have been to a few Nationals and Area 2 and 4 matches. I thought this match was quite good. It had a nice mix of stages. As previously said, some props are designed to distract the shooters. That is their sole purpose. So this match's prop were generally no different than any others. Look at the cart ride at Area 2 last year. A great number of shooters zero'd that stage also. The year before A2 had 4 stages in a row that were totally mind games. I appreciated this year's stage design over A2 from 2 years ago. Granted some of the stages had only one shooting solution for the Open shooters. The L10 folks had more options so to speak.

Stage 17 was a bit of a joke. It was stupid to have a buzzer that could not be heard and a light that could not be seen. The CRO on the stage was looking to penalize people. I think he is the one who penalize two shooters for coaching. When was the last time that was called? I am sure if that had not been penalized that would have displaced TGO and Ted.

I drove to both shooting areas twice like many others. I did not bother me. The staff and ROs were way above average than I had experienced at other National matches.

It was interesting to note that the Nationals matches seem to have fewer and fewer vendors show up. That to me is a real issue that should be addressed. A2 has more vendors show up than Nationals have show up. What are they doing right?

Again, I think it was a great match even though I probably did my worse at this one v. the others.

  5. Front Sight had an article about shooting on the move. Don Golembieski was the GM. He pretty much says the quality of your sight picture is the final judge of how fast you should be moving and shooting shooting. So you have to practice all those movement techniques to ensure a quality sight picture.

  6. Have you called Angus Hobdell?

Don Golembieski is VV technical representative for the USA.

    Call him - KodiakPrecision.com

BTW: According to the importer, I believe they are limited to the number of pounds they can ship each day, so there is generally a significant delay. The obvious recommendation is to order alot in advance to take care of the supply problem.

  7. I have traveled alot over the past years and expericed some shooting in the west.

    1. Phoenix/Mesa area probably has more shooting in a smaller geographically area than anywhere else.

    2. Californina has a match somewhere every weekend but you have to drive

    3. Louisiana has some great matches all over the southern part of the state.

    4. Never been shooting in Florida but it seems like a great place to shoot.

Instruction-wise: I would recommend AZ first--Matt Burkett, Robbie (if you are lucky enough to hit his drill masters club shoot) and Angus Hobdell are a just a few who might be available for instruction.

Check their websites and email them your questions.

As for reloading- email them or just buy WWB at Walmart

  8. "I don't think it is possible to get fair and consistent officiating without dedicated stage officials."

I have seen dedicated stage officials be inconsistent at major matches. I have seen some very consistent and strict roving ROs mostly at my local matches. The group of shooters I usually squad with are quite strict.

I am not sure one method ensures fair and consistent. There does seem to be a little more consistency in dedicated stage officials.

I would offer that a dedicated RO and the squad supplies the score keeper might be the way to go.

  9. Frontsight has another tip about shooting through ports.

    In summary;

    1. when you get to the port get the gun far enough in so you can see everything. You do not want to reposition yourself once you are at the port.

    2. Drop your center of gravity

    3. Taran uses his front leg to slow himself down when entering and for pushing off when leaving

    4. Some use the 'go to the mark on the window sill, ground etc' approach others move far enough to see all that they need to see.

    5. I know an Open A class AZ shooter who starts shooting through the port a good fifteen feet before he reaches it if he can see the target. He often maps his approach so he can start seeing the targets as soon as possible.

  10. For me the real key is that SS is for 1911 models only. No Glocks, SA Xd, SW MP, BHP, HK etc.

In L10 you can shoot your limited gun, 1911, plus all the others out there.

Of course the mag placement, holster, and rounds are critical but the real key is the 1911 v. all comers.

  11. I am carrying less and less in my bag. I have a big storage bin in the truck and keep everything in that. If I need something except ammo (I only carry what I need for a couple of stages then go back to the truck for more) other than saline drop, grip goop, or a rag, I go back to the bin. The bag is pretty light, but I almost need a fork lift for the bin.

  12. BTW

    Taran does shoot IDPA.

I have seen their work up close.

It is fanstastic stuff, the price is right also.

Most folks lube their gun a little more frequently as the finish is not pourous.

  13. Last time I was in Dillon's, they had synethic motor oil on their work shelf. That is what a lot of them use.

    It will work.

I use Blue Magic Oil, Maricopa AZ 1.888.974.3030. Very Expensive, but you use so little. IT will not run like oil or slow down the slide like grease on cold day.
