  1. I had a Vanek in a 34 and it was the best Glock trigger I have felt. Does Jager make an extended striker for a large frame? I checked their site and could not determine.
  2. Sometimes I cant believe the opinions of other shooters. The recent thread about Larue no longer selling to State and Local LE disturbed me so much that after a day of thinking about it, i had to create my very first hate thread. I have been a LE Officer for 17 years. I am also very pro-gun. I shoot USPSA when I can, and have made it rule of mine to try to get outside my normal area and shoot a match I have not shot before every year. I sought out USPSA to become better with my handgun under stress. I have met some great people due to shooting and believe that some of the best people in the world are affiliated with the shooting sports. Reading the replies to the Larue announcement concerning the perceived "us vs them" thoughts of LE blew me away. I clearly see now that civilians harbor no such thoughts. I also noticed that there were several replies about the government having better weapons than the citizens it protects. I compared that to the news that Larue has no plans to stop selling to the Federal Government. Larue will make a stand, but not one that effects his real bottom line. I did appreciate Nik's thoughts and understand his point. No one that I know is placing anyones life above anyone else. It is not State and Local cops making the laws. If and when I only have to worry about defending my own home/family, and not responding to help your family, i will gladly follow all laws. Why divide ourselves and limit tools used by people that we can trust to deal with those we cannot... I would look at the current Larue catalog to see what items he has listed that could be illegal in some states, but I really don't want to waste my time. I can read between the lines and understand what he is about. I have never heard anything negative about him and used to think he had LE, Mil and lawful citizens in mind when he sold his products. I see now that he is no more than a pouting child who is taking his ball and going home just in case someone at his company makes a human error. You can find my very well worn Larue hat in the trash. I would have posted this in the Larue vender tent, but couldn't seem to find it here... Jason
  3. Thanks Bamboo and others, I guess one day soon I will break down and build one. Now have a good jumping off point to start with the mags.
  4. I really want to build a Caspian limited gun but am also leery of the mags. Bamboo, are the Cape mags 20 rds?
  5. I have heard this before, but know that both forged and cast frames can have issues. I think the post about the quality of the cast is what the issue is, not simply that a part is cast vs. forged. I would like for someone with some knowledge of metallurgy to weigh in on this one. Too many "internet facts" have clouded this issue for me.
  6. Thanks Guy, I figured there must be a little bit of input from varying sides on this one. I knew there would be some in the, "cause thats what works" school and those who based it on some research somewhere. More curiosity than anything else...I got to thinking about a potential build and wondered what the actual reason for the crown cut was other than the appearance. Jason
  7. Thanks Warren, I thought so but have seen it enough to wonder.
  8. I did a search but didn't find what I wanted to know, so...What is the benefit (if any) to the 11 degree crown. I know they look awesome but is there more to them? Jason
  9. I would call Chip. He may have an idea and his customer service is pretty good.
  10. I really like using my 22 conversion to enforce calling my shots with my sights and not taking the time to look at the targets. I know that sneaking a look before I leave a shooting position is a huge time waster, but I am guilty. With the 22, I cant see the holes. My SHO / WHO has also become much better since drilling with the 22. I will pick a day and use 22 only on that day, tougher targets, smaller A zones and increased distance to keep it interesting.
  11. I have seen the Mayhem. Great looking gun. They are a bit out of my range price wise. And when I say a bit, I mean by alot...
  12. I have also used the Dawson pads. I know they fit the IDPA box at my State match.
  13. I have never been much of a fan of the carbon fiber look on mag pouches or holsters and such, but I gotta say that gun on Travis's jersey looks pretty nice. Thanks for posting some pics guys. Rishll, I know you use mostly the older Caspian mags, but what problems have you had with the newer mags if any? Jason
  14. Rich, What is the mod to make the Tanfoglio mag fit the Caspian frame? Jason
  15. Ya, I would call Travis crazy...crazy good...Great comments so far. I appreciate it. I am looking forward to hearing from guys who shot a Caspian frame and decided to go to something else. I would be interested why they left the platform and and if deep down they regret it at all. Trust me, I understand the desire to "simply shoot something else for awhile" itch. Again, thanks to those who have commented.
  16. I enjoy shooting SS and L10 with my 1911. I am interested in building / acquiring a .40 cal limited gun and have become stuck on a high cap Caspian frame. Am I crazy, and should I let this pass and get in the STI congo line? Are .40 Caspian mags reliable and obtainable. Brownells didn't look like they carried .40. I really enjoy a steel framed gun. Thoughts?
  17. Evans, Tim and the rest of the stage design team, you guys did a great job on stages as well as running this match. My appreciation goes out to you, MGM Targets and the remainder of the sponsors.
  18. I think Jake covered it. I found myself staring at the front sight between shots ensuring the alphas. Trust what you see when you see it and move on...
  19. How many times have you guys walked a stage and developed your plan, only to second guess yourself when you notice another shooter take a different approach?
  20. Aside from STI and Les Baer, who else makes a 1911 frame with a full length dust cover? Thanks in advance for your replies. Jason
  21. I would run that Sig and not worry about it. Seems lots of people have heard about the external extractors breaking but no one has ever had one break or witnessed one break themselves. As to the weight, I know that STX and the XO will make weight with a mag well. You don't see a lot of Sig's out there, but they are as accurate and as well made as most anything else. Pzak
  22. M Bear, I am gonna guess that the Idaho State match will be in September again, but I have no inside knowledge. Aaron Goodfellow is the man to ask. Victor, where will the WA State match be held? P-Zak
  23. I appreciate the replies guys. The Carolina Cup is not a surprise that it is recommended. The Georgia state match sounds like it must be a great match too and worth looking into. What about the gulf coast or NM area? Just a bit closer for me. P-Zak
  24. Koski, I have not shot either one of them. I have been interested in both though. I have also wondered about the AZ IDPA State match. I went to the WSSSC match last year. What a great match. The guys in AZ know how to design stages... Its looking like I need to check out the Carolina Cup next year. I appreciate the replies, keep them coming. Pzak
