I turn it up until I start to see some flare around the dot, then I turn it down 1 click at make ready for each stage. I want it bright enough that I can see it but dim enough that it doesn’t draw my eyes to it so I can stay focused on the target and not changing my attention back and forth from the dot to the target and back.

What is the best base pad for carry optics?

There’s a screw in the back that toggles up and down that locks out the pistol. Try toggling that.

I ran 3 Maxes on open guns all year last year between 2 shooters, no issues.

I don’t remember. It was absorbed into the prices of the builds. Sorry. Pricing will be different anyway based on how many guns you send them, how many small parts, etc. I don’t even know for sure if they will only do one gun, best thing would be to call or email them to ask.

I think if I took a Glock to the guy who builds my open guns to have a barrel fitted, he’d laugh and then throw me out of his shop. (Joking, I think?
) I have a Faxon and a few KKMs and they seem to be good enough.

I have had this discussion with myself a lot about my son’s steel challenge pistol. I know that I go through great lengths to do things to minimize buildup on my wife and my open guns because I hate cleaning the friggin comp so much. I know comp design seems to be super important for open guns so I can’t believe that the teeny amount of gas from that teeny little cartridge can possibly do anything. I don’t really want to clean his comp too especially if it doesn’t do anything, so I haven’t put one on yet.
