  2. My name is Bob Wolff and I have been a 3 gun MD for many, may years. We use modified IMG rules at our club.

I have a scoring spreadsheet that I have developed which I score our matches on. We typically get 45 shootes per match.

Email me at rgwolff@comcast.net if you want a copy

  3. mpeltier: It is a safety issue, as we move to greater distances this shooter risks putting one over the berm. We try to coach as we can. Again I welcome alot of new shooters and am always selling the fun and benefits to all I meet. Stealty blogger, thanks for the download. I have been tossing around the idea of a 3 gun 101 and I believe the discussion here has convinced me that this would only be a positive experience. Bob
  4. Thanks for the replys. I get 2-3 new shooters each month, whose attitude and experience vary greatly. I already mark new shooter on the score sheet, spread new shooters out amongst the squads and "ASSIGN" a mentor for to them. What got me started was We have had to DQ 2 shooters in the last two matches for safety. Our "long range" is limited to 200 yds with very limited movement and the repercussions of bullets not impacting the berm is unacceptable. What drove me over the edge was 4 new MGM flashers, one at 150 yds, one shooter stuck the cross bar twice and destroyed one of the legs. Just want to put on a match that is safe, challenging, fun and welcoming of new shooters to our game. Bob
  5. I do a monthly Multigun Match in the Houston area (for many years now) and am looking for some help for a message I want to be able to send to new 3 gun match competitors. Recent matches have had several new shooters who are (to put it politely) not prepared either in gun handling or match preparation. Everytime I start I get realy annoyed at what I have seen and my message comes off as a rant, not stating expectations What would you include? examples: knowing manual of arms for your weapons of choice Sighted in knowing hold overs You get the idea Bob
  6. The Blade Tech rep said it was Gen 4 specific, 3 week wait.
  7. I am in the process of obtaining a holster for my just acquired Gen 4 Glock 34. Spoke to Comp-Tac this morning, They state that they do not have a holster to fit the Gen4, but will be making one (no time estimate yet, but shortly) Spoke to Blade Tech this morning and they will make a holster for your Gen 4 (they also state it is a different size from a Gen 3. 14. Scores are posted at WWW.WHIDPA.COM Wind, did anybody notice the wind!!! Yes the day was great, but that wind added to the challenge. First, thanks to Dale C, Kelton C & Allan C for stepping up to SO/RO Thanks to CCC & Fred for the range and set-up (yes you too Bruce). Had 27 shooters and 5 stages. Stage 1 : 4 pistol poppers (not close shots) enroute to rifle with 5 steel targets (plates & mini poppers) from 125 to 211 yds Stage 2: pistol plate rack (with some small plates) then from platform 6 steel plates ranging from 165 to 485 yds. Wind was a big influence on this stage. Stage 3: Rifle, weak side and strong side 4 plates each from 99 to 199 yds Stage 4: Jungle run , start with 80 yd slug shot then 10 poppers scattered in the trees, transition to pistol with 8 steel plates hidden in the trees and bushes. Stage 5: Start rifle, 90 yd 12" steel plate, then 6 paper targets (10-20 yds) then transition to shotgun 90 yd slug shot, then 10 poppers with 5 rabbits mixed in. Some observations: • .308 was a good choice for the match • Sometimes you just have to admit that that last plate is just adding time.... • Rabbits are harder than they look when empty Low points down goes to Jake F, well shot Jake. Overall match winner, Jake F, well shot and congratulations Hope all had fun, see you next month at ImpactZone. 18. I have had 3-4 requests from regular match participants to utilize 22 ARs. Our problem is when we start to shoot over 100 yds, all of these people have no idea what their holdover would be and with the range layout, this is a big safety issue. Bob
  19. AT our local multigun match in Houston, we have a young man who utilizes an M&p 15 22 and a sig Mosquito (22) to shoot the match. We do not let him shoot past 100 yds though (range safety) Seems to work as a starter set-up Bob
  20. Brian, now that I know your intention.....next match when I am SO, you will have earned all the "regognition" you deserve Cheers Bob
  21. As match director, stage designer, scorer, rules keeper, etc, etc, I take a box of clays, open , place a piece of plywood over the open box, invert and remove the box. Leaves 6 nice stacks of clays. Then drill a hole in each edge while stacked. When complete, rebox and take to match. I use "bailing wire" hooks from a string between two sticks. Bob
  22. Brian, You could have just emailed me your response Bob Grand Poobah of all things Multigun at WHIDPA
  23. Setting up equipment checks for sanctioned match. Unsure of how to "properly weigh" pistols. Using SSP as an example and a max weight with empty magazine of 39 oz, per latest rulebook. Three possible procedures: IDPA list weights to whole oz. My scale will show to 0.1 of an oz. (calibration weights will be available to verify scale weight) How do you measure? 1. Can place gun on zeroed scale and look at actual weight. So an SSP gun weighing 39.1 oz would be overweight, therefore DQ 2. Can place gun on zeroed scale that has the tenths of an oz number covered with tape. So an SSP gun weighing 39.9 oz would "display" 39 oz, therefore OK, no DQ 3. Can place empty gun on zeroed scale displaying all numerals. Would round down from 39.4 oz (OK no DQ) and round up from 39.5 oz (Overweight, DQ) All opinions welcome Bob
  24. I own a Benelli and understand how to perform a select slug load with it. Got a friend who wants to start shooting 3 Gun with us and he has a Remington 1100. He asked about select slug loading. Same as a Benelli? If not how. Bob W
  25. Fred is a tireless person who has been working his *ss off to prepare the range for this match. Thanks Fred (and Thanks to MrT53 for providing the reesourses to accomplish this). Bob W and for those who don't Fred, he never sleeps.....
