  1. I ran 20 more through the chrono. Got 130 pf, with a fairly small SD. I have weighed about 50 of the bullets..they are all 132gr. I was just a little surprised at the small charge required to make 130PF. I haven't shot these types of bullets in 9mm before, and this is my first experience with BBI bullets. I've run some Precision 185s in my 40 Tanfo Match, but I didn't notice much difference in the charge required between those and the Berry's I'd run before.

  2. the gun: CZ 75 SP-01

the load: 130 Black Bullets International Moly (actually weigh 132gr)

    3.8 gr. Solo 1000

    1.11 OAL

    Fed SP primer

I shot 7 rounds with it..

    987

    1008

    1017

    1018

    965

    989

    981

with a 124 Precision Delta JHP, it takes 4.4gr to make power. 4.6= 131PF with the 124s

Are the BBIs that slick or is my chrono full of crap?????

  3. Very interesting. Mink shot very very well at Area 3!

I shot with him last Sunday...he put his head phones on before shooting a stage, I assume listening to some Megadeth, then just shredded it..... :surprise:

He said..as I recall, that Area 3 went really well, and thought it was one of his best matches, despite not beating Sevigny.

  4. Pretty sure the small frame Witness mags will fit. Is that gun in a shop in Little Rock? I noticed a few old Tanfos in a shop a few weeks ago.

    Hi y'all

I'm looking for information on an FIE TZ-75 Ser# H130xx.

Any iformation I can get like year of mfg ect...

It was posted as a an FIE import TZ-75 Hi-cap 9mm.

    Is this a Series 88?

What magazines will work with it?

    thanks for any assistance.

    Yours in service

  5. Well, I did a real quick chop on the hammer hook. It cut the SA stroke about 25%, and I didn't have to alter the FPB either. ..the DA is SMOOOOOOTH after I took a stone to some surfaces. I think that there is more leverage in the hammer than in a regular 75. A cut 15lb spring seems to have more snap than it should in the Omega.

the trigger bar is one-sided..so the yes..the trigger is different..there is a different setup also on the hammer..the DAconnector is fit to the side of the hammer, not the center..

the FPB lever is also integral in the trigger system..it is between the trigger bar and the sear. not side by side as in a std 75B/SP01

from the photos I have seen it looks like the reset point could be modified..but I don't have one in front of me to tell for sure.

I notice that block spring too..it feel like you reach where the sear will release and then you have all that spring to pull through.

be interesting to see how that trigger system cleans up..look forward to hear your experiences.

  6. I got the 75 Omega on friday..immediately stuck a 15lb hammer spring in it (with 1 or two coils cut off). The SA pull is really light but with a longer than a regular 75 reset. I really notice the FPB action..the spring being compressed adds a "squishy" feel to the trigger. Double action is smooth , but kind of heavy. The trigger looks to be a modified version of the regular black 75 trigger, with a solid center and a notch milled in the side for the trigger bar (but I haven't gotten it out yet). The grip is slightly larger thanks to the flatter from strap. I've got to pick up a set of aluminum grips from Matt Mink..I think that'll make the gun feel awesome in the hand. I ran about 20 rounds through it, and really had to focus to not put the shots up and to the left. I'm not a fan of the black curved trigger.....I've got to cut the hammer hook a little and then mod the FPB to release a little earlier. Should be incredible then, if I don't *F* something up.

I've got one ordered and will be here in a day or two. I'm looking forward to see how it will stack up against my well broken in 75B and my SP-01. I hope that my 85 Combat trigger will work in it. I HATE those recurved triggers. I haven't held an Omega in my hand, but I'm hoping the grip (with the aluminum grips) will be more like a large frame Tanfoglio with the thin Henning grips.
  7. My Match has eaten everything it's been fed, even running factory 40 in 10mm mags, without a hitch..even with the Henning basebads and Grams guts...even remanufactured 40 Ultramax ammo...not the best stuff. I even ran 6 rounds of a fellow shooters 40 loaded out to 1.26 through it with no trouble...

I've got a match with several Henning parts on it. It's got a Champion rear and a henning iFiber .095 front. I've also got a cut up magwell on it. It's not really made for it, but it works just fine. I did crosshatch the front and rear straps with a checkering file. I didn't like the vertical serrations. I also have cut down Henning aluminum grips with skateboard tape on them. I'm a C class shooter right now, and it's as much as I need. I may look at a Limited later, but for now, the Match plenty.

It shoots well, feeds just about anything and always goes bang, as long as I load the ammo right.

  9. My Match is smooth and tightly built..cycles beautifully, no clanking there. I am loving the supersight + IFiber combo, I wish every gun I shoot had them.

Yep, that "loose nut" needs some work, but I'm making progress. I think I'll make B limited after the next classifier update. I do know a sponsored Production GM....I guess I should wave some cash at him for a lesson.

I have only shot a match 40 once before in a practice session and it performed just as good as my limited. The owner did have a mag well on it though so the mag change felt the same as the limited. The only thing that I noticed that was different is that it sounded like it had some clanks and rattles when shooting. I don't know if this would be the barrel flopping around or not. But it didn't seem to affect the accuracy or shooting performance of the gun.

I say you stick with the match and spend your $$$ on other things that you can benifit more from. Buy more ammo and practice more or wrangle up a local hot shoe and pay for a shooting class. You would see more of a return on your investment with those things verses getting a Limited which isn't going to be "That Much" better than the Match, especially since you have your match tricked out pretty good. Most of the time getting better is all about honing the loose nut behind the wheel, not hopping up your equipment.

  10. I've got a 40 Match, supersight version, with an IFiber front, and Henning grips. I've been shooting it above my C classification for my past few matches, and at least one match, coming within 5% of the top open shooter (he's an A class shooter) at the local club match. I've been seriously thinking about gettting a Limited, mostly for the magwell, big safety, and better barrel. Is the Limited THAT much better than my Match? I've never shot one before and am concerned about the extra weight.

  11. +1

Henning was very helpful and concerned when I had fitment issues with some grips I bought...

I'm loving my 40 Match with the iFiber and the Henning contour grips!

his emails are always fast on the return,..and I get the occasional surprise phone call,..which goes above and beyond!!
  12. My main gripe with the SP-01 right now is the Marschal grips I have on it to make weight in IDPA. They make the gun feel FAT. I much prefer the stock rubber grips. If I were shooting Prod ot Lim/ minor wih it, I'd get a set of the CZ Competition aluminum grips. Otherwise, I love the SP-01

For me, I went from light gun to heavy spo1. It only takes about 400rds to get use to it

and for some reason, I get better hits with a heavier gun? Transitions won't win matches good practice will..I'll take

my better hits everyday and you'll eventually even out your transition with splits after shooting

the spo1..trust me. The only way to test out a gun is to shoot it at a local match or ask a buddy if you can

shoot a few stages with the gun you want to try out. I did that with the spo1 and I shot better with it with my

    open gun?

  13. I need to put a timer on it when I go to the range this weekend...and I'll get back with you. I think my reload and draw are probably slower than yours.

Since I can guess what the answer will be, I'll say this. You are focused on the wrong things.

I can shoot an El Prez a second faster than you and my splits on target would be twice as long, in the .30 to .35 range....and at that speed they better all be A's. At full speed, match speed, I can shoot it 2 seconds faster, down 2 or 3 points and still my splits on target will be in the .22 range. The difference is, I will do the transition times the same as the splits on target, and my draw and reload will be around 1.1.

    Here's the math...

    draw 1.2

    2nd .3

    3rd .3

    4th .3

    5th .3

    6th .3

    reload 1.2

    8th .3

    9th .3

    10th .3

    11th .3

    12th .3

    = 5.4 seconds

    Or draw 1.1

    2nd .22

    3rd .22

    4th .22

    5th .22

    6th .22

    reload 1.1

    8th .22

    9th .22

    10th .22

    11th .22

    12th .22

    = 4.4 seconds

I usually run around 4.25 in a match.

  14. Ahhhhhh..... patience, not one of my strong points.

It's not something I normally set up and practice, but I ran it just once a few weeks ago at 6.5sec with one C and that seemed kind of slow, but I think 7's are comfortable, with 8 second seemingly approaching stupid slow..if my memory serves me. I need to practice it more!

What is a normal El prez time for you?

The brake you are looking for is called visual patience.

  15. Thank goodness I rarely have to compete against Matt! Even though I did beat him on three stages at the last match...he was having a bad day.

I've shot an El Prez in the 6 second range with 0 down...

Really, I watch my sights, but the urge to wail away on the trigger sometimes overrides my that...I figure having a built in "brake" will make me take the time to get a better sight picture.

It's just that I'm trying to nail down why I can shoot one gun better than the other with these variables, including the trigger setup.

    Sights

    weight/balance

    grip profile

I'm thinking it may have more to do with the sights than anything.

    Thank goodness.

I didn't even want to click into this thread.

I am so happy to see all the advice being given to actually paying attention and executing the skills.

    ------------------------

    Rusty,

You aren't going to keep up with Matt Mink by pulling the trigger faster or slower.

What you need is control. You will get that by learning the fundamentals and then executing them.

  16. I've got 3 guns I shoot IDPA and USPSA with...a CZ-75B, CZ SP-01, and a Tanfoglio/ EAA Witness Match .40.

I shot only the 75 for several years before getting the SP-01 and it seemed to take me a while to come to grips with the extra weight up front. I got the Tanfo several months ago, and it seemed like the perfect gun for my hands (after I put some grips from Henning Wallgren on it). Just by holding the guns in my hand I thought the SP-01 was the heaviest. What I found out when I got my scale...guns weighed with empty mag.

75= 37 ounces (has the cz rubber grips installed)

SP01=38.5 ounces (has Marschal thin wood grips)

    Match=41.5

I really couldn't believe that the SP-01 weighed less than the Match..and that the 75 weighs so close to the SP-01. I've found out that I prefer a heavier gun, but with less of the weight up front. I'd thought about getting a CZ Tactical Sports (or a Witness Limited) but I'm thinking it would be wasted money, but will I be at a disadvantage shooting a gun with less weight up front? I think things would balance out by the lighter gun being easier to transition...

  17. Yeah, if you dry fire them a bit the springs tend to not last too long. I've dry fired 4 into submission. I was at the range dialing in my load for 124s and my spring broke..just a few days before the OK State IDPA match. THe one in my 75 seems to last longer than the SP-01 for some reason.

Actually just called and Angus does have them. Crisis averted! I have had the gun about a year and have put a lot of rounds through it, plus a lot of dry firing. I figured the spring would break one of these days. I'm just glad it wasn't in a match.

My last one broke dry firing the night before Area 5 a couple years ago. Had a spare with me ;)

    Later,

    Chuck
