I currently use WSF in my Stag 9mm carbine loading 4.3grs using 124gr EG plated bullets... after a match my carbine is VERY dirty.... was wondering if there is another powder that would burn cleaner ?  any suggestions/advise would be appreciated..

    thanks,

I run nearly the same load. 4.5wsf and 124 PD JHPs. This pic was taken after a 1500rd in one day class. I didnt think it was all that bad considering.

  2. Lots of talk about the potential for a "dangerously" cased PCC because we dont know if its loaded in the case and if there may be something in the case to discharge said loaded gun.
Lots of talk about "sweeping" with a cased PCC.

Funny, I have never heard/read these concerns over handgun shooters showing up to the line with a bagged handgun.  Kinda the same situation isn't it?

Plus it doesn't seem to offer any advantage in PCC...  If it's an unloaded start, just pick up a big mag from the table/barrel.

I like mine for placing a mag on as I walk up to the line and if it is a table mag start depending on the stage I might want an extra mag.  We have all seen mags puke part way through a stage before. Id rather not have to go back to a table to grab another mag.

All that said, I find it way more useful in practice sessions than matches. Useful enough to keep it on my belt.

    If you include:

    1. Troy’s “interpretations” which were emailed out and stuck into back pockets of shooters everywhere (which USPSA has plainly stated they’ll be putting into the rulebook in realtime from now on.)

    2. Introducing two new divisions the moment the dust settled after the election - divisions which were not mentioned while campaigning.

    3. The total overhaul of Production rules which took an end-run around the two year clause by being labeled a “rules adjustment”...

    @bret @Patrick Scott @vluc and others who’ve mentioned it?

USPSA is changing the rulebook approximately 2 to 4 times a year right now. They have a strong interest in keeping it easy to re-write and distribute.

For better or worse, we have seen a lot of rule book "changes" the past couple of years and (for better or worse) I think thats the way its going to be.  Im of the opinion that if this trend continues, a digital rule book is better suited to a dynamic rules set.  No more loose papers stuffed or stapled into a hardcopy. No more silly time sucking debates about something that is not in the book, but their is a seperate ruling/clarifcation for.

Humm, I am thinking there's not alot of intersection between the want a Printed Book group,, and the figure out duplex printing group..
My issue with this from what I am gathering is a non printed rulebook will lead to instability of rules. Constant changes and updates with different people with different versions.
Used to be the rule book was the rule book and that was it until a new one came out.. Then we got this online thing, Forums, webpages rulings,, people with emails in their pockets, "rulings that were just straight contrary to the language in the rule book... Sorry that whole system is just broken.
Publish a rulebook, Put it available online,, then lock it in for at least 5 years,, and no changes take effect until next book is out.

Seems a lot of intersection between the "It can change too easy" group and the "We don't realize there are bylaws/processes and time limits on rule changes" group.

  6. Im not going to debate in this post about whether or not USPSA should provide a book, Id rather offer a simple solution.  Things needed:
.pdf file of the rule book
    Adobe .pdf program(free)
Duplex(both sides at once) capable printer. You can do it without duplex, you will just have to flip and reload the sheets.
    31 sheets of paper
    3 staples

Adobe reader has a "booklet" printing option, so after about 4 minutes of printing youll have this.
    (booklet printing instructions- https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-booklets-acrobat-reader.html )

One thing to keep in mind is that there will not be the separate ruling files that we had in the past. When an approved ruling reaches it's effectivity date , it will be folded into the on-line rulebook. The printed books will go obsolete rapidly.

This is the biggest reason I dont mind the change. No more "If its not in the rule book, it doesnt exsist." comments that I may have heard once or twice.

    A quick question on 6.2.5.1

Say, a bonafide PCC guy declares "Limited" (a "handgun Division") and then clearly fails to satisfy requirements for the division. Rule 6.2.5.1 states that he will be placed into "Open Division if available" (which almost always is). So, does the PCC guy get to shoot for score in Open division (while the PCC course and shooting rules are still in effect since those are based on "handgun vs. PCC," not on the Division that is used for scoring)?

In the old rules, moving shooters to Open was a punitive action - a Production shooter wouldn't be placed in Limited if he reloaded from the front pocket or had an extra round in the magazine. The new rules seem to allow a PCC guy to game it and choose whether to shoot against Open shooters...

    6.2.5.1

However, if a competitor fails to satisfy the equipment or other

requirements of a declared handgun Division during a course of

fire, the competitor will be placed in Open Division, if available,

otherwise the competitor will shoot the match for no score. If a

competitor fails to satisfy the equipment or other requirements for

PCC or Open Division during the course of fire, he will shoot for no

    score.

Looks like it clearly states in that case the PCC shooter shoots for no score.  PCC guy delcares LTD, gets "bumped" to Open, but doesnt satisfy Open req, gets bumped to No Score.

  9. I still like paper books, but I have no issue just using my phone for it and/or having the the .pdf version of the rules put onto my clubs tablets.  Honestly I think if a club is running scoring equipment capable of holding a .pdf then there is no good reason for it not to be on there.  The only thing is, who ever is in charge of the equipment should be checking for updates to the .pdf  regularly.

Does anyone know the difference between the Generation 1 Taran Tactical Glock +10 PCC mag extensions and the newer Gen 2 other than the shape and a little more weight?  Are they supposed to function better than the Gen 1’s?  The website description is a little vague and there aren’t any reviews that I could find.  The reason I’m asking is Taran Tactical has a 30% off sale right now and I was going to pick up a few if they function well.

I have one Gen 1 and 4 Gen 2's. Have not seen a difference in function. They all work fine for me on factory Glock 31rd tubes after making sure the bottom inside of the mag is free of molding flash and smoothing out all the sharp edges on the followers.

  11. I right after nationals I switched from a fleet(5) of delrin TF pads to TTI on factory Glock mags. Never had any reliability issues with either. Function wise the only thing I have noticed is sometimes I can get an extra round in the TTI vs the TF. The TTIs make taking the mag apart a bit easier to take apart and I like the looks a little better. I load Precision Delta 124jhps to 1.125" FWIW.

My hands & feet get cold long before my core does.  Smartwool full base layer/socks, snowboard hat & winter golf gloves.

That works well, but the heated vest thing is a good idea. When your core starts to cool down blood is drawn away from the extremities making them get cold in a hurry.  You might not even notice your core is cooling because of this. Since I shoot in Vermont year round I have played with using the big body warmer on my core and I can tell a difference in my hands and feet.

  13. If its(40 S&W) easy for the uneducated to throw together with "what ever parts" and it runs. It will sell and its not a bad idea. A good one really.

It will not however be the most popular among the top USPSA PCC shooters. Which really doesnt matter.

9X19 guns run now for those educated enough to buy the proper parts.

Don't want to get into politics here..... But..... it seems that our friends at BATFE now say a pistol brace isn't a buttstock so a brace can be shouldered/cheeked on a AR pistol , Barrel length is/can be less than 16"...since it's not a rifle but a pistol ....I'd guess the rule maker's at USPSA are in a huddle???... Maybe yet another class?.... Pistol brace open/ pistol brace limited or maybe carry optics brace  , open/limited... What say you????....1st. person that comes up with a AR pistol holster wins.. I never really understood the $200 SBR fee thing anyhow, same as a machine gun ... A 6' tall person could dang near hide a 5' ladder under a trench coat if they really tried....

Every time I see a post about making a division for braced pistols, all I hear is
"I have this gun that doesnt fit the rules. Can we make a division for it? I don't want to buy the proper gear to play the game"

Also IIRC per AR pistols are a no-go in Open even with a holster.  Rule 5.1.10 Forearms have been deemed "fore grips"

    5.1.10
Handguns with shoulder stocks and/or fore grips of any kind are
    prohibited
  15. My PCC gun (14.5 barrel+comp) doesnt seem to cause issues, but I run between 145 and 150pf ammo. It looks like some top folks at nationals seem to run PF in that range. Maybe there is something to that

    ...

  16. Little background: I'm a certified RO, PCC shooter, Club VP,  sometimes MD, and almost always at setup to help with stages and WSBs.

While I don't care about a PCC shooter being able to lase the first target from the starting position as far as keeping the playing field level within the division, I think its dumb for a WSB to allow it. This is about shooting and gun manipulation challenges, and while I guess you could argue that hip shooting with a laser is a shooting challenge I find it far more interesting to challenge the shooter to start in such a way the have to manipulate the gun a bit more.  One sentence in the WSB and maybe a marker on the COF is all it takes to fix this "problem"

Post a list of what the people who are "actually winning" use.

    Probably the biggest winning gun-

    Quarter Circle 10 Glock lower

    Non-forward assist regular upper

    Shooting Innovations ramped 14.5 barrel

    Hiperfire trigger like the Eclipse

    Full weight bolt

    Blitzkrieg 9mm hydraulic buffer

    JP 308 carbine spring

    140+pf ammo.

    The rest doesn't really matter
