The only time I unload my duty gun or back up/carry gun (G22/G23) are when I go to the rang eto practice with them. At our Dept, you cannot show up to the range hot, so I unload my gun in the safety area of my trunk as soon as I get there, including all the mags. After practice, the range master will usually let me load all my mags and mark the guns hot and holster them before I leave. I have no idea which round was the one chambered, but I guess I need to start paying attention. Since I have 2 guns that have qualed with, the dept has given me 100rounds (50 per gun, I carry 46 on my work belt). I don't know if they ever trade them out.

What do you mean by rotate out ammo? As in leaving ammo sitting for too long and just using what comes in? Just curious as I am about to go to our dept's range to start practicing more with my g22...
  3. Thanks, I sold the pistol and decided I would be better off going with a 625 or a 610 instead. I am leaning towards the 610 because I have always had dreams of a 40 revolver and SS to go with my Dawson 40, but the cost may not add up. It seems like a 625 can be had for 600 or so, so I would just need to get stuff set up for reloading and then I would be in the green. My hours aren't letting me shoot matches right now, so I thought I would just explore a world I have always been interested in. The only match I can shoot right now is a steel match, so I thought, 5 plates, 6 bullets, motivation not to miss..... Thanks for the help. I will keep posting once I figure out what I am doing...
  4. 1-10 causes problems for me. I is my last ditch brass for the moment. I bought a bunch of brass off someone on gunbroker and half of it was I headstamp and there was a fair amount of Federal NT that won't load to save my life. I think I have pitched 1/4 of the brass I bought off that guy...
  5. It looks like a custom magazine built from the ground up. They're all polymer except for the mag spring, and that includes the feed lips, which is why I'm reluctant to do reloading drills, for fear of banging up the lips both on insertion and on dropping the mags on hard surfaces. Dunno about the sights. I'd bet that any set of metal sights you add is going to weigh a fair amount more than the plastic front and rear adjustable Glock versions on the LE top end. I'm not sure whether it's enough to change how the gun cycles Yeah, that would make me worry about reloading too, especially at 25 a pop. I guess at 200 for a conversion, it might be worth the gamble. Worse comes to worse I could just shoot squirrel with it right? some sub sonic ammo and the hippie neighbors would never know...
  6. Same here, I cannot stand stuff hanging off my rifle. I threw some grip tape on the front of my mag well and used that to keep a tight base. I saw the VFG/bi pod and thought that was cool, but after messing with it, I think just practicing my prone stand is a better investment in time. A decent sling is probably more worth while if you practice with it. For competition atleast.
  7. for those who changed sights, are they installed the same? I have some dawson sights I pulled off my work gun so I could throw night sights ones and would like to use the dawson thin fiber for something.
  8. thanks for the reply. I was not thinking it would be great practice for me, but it would be nice for plinking and give the wife a little start on steel matches with starting from a holster and getting her use to the gun. Are the mags basically glock mag shells with some sort of insert to make the 22s feeding?
  9. how do they work? Does it just rest in there or is there some sort of tension screw?
  10. um yeah, that sounded kinda like greek to me... However, I will do some searches on "cyld. holes champered" "Pinnacle oversize cyld" And see if I can figure out what those are. The trigger pull seems good compared with my 686 and colt trooper, but I would guess that doesn't say much. My limited gun breaks clean at 2lbs and I was unsure if that was feasable with revolvers or not...
  11. I don't have the dies to load yet, right now I have a deal to trade with a friend who is not set up to load 40 and all her bullets are jacketed. But if she does use some precision or something, I will keep you up to date. I have not shot this revolver yet and the person I got it from shot less than 500rnds.
  12. thanks for all the info guys. I have a 686 I love to shoot, but it has the 8 3/8inch barrel, and besides not being able to find a holster to fit it (I was going to shoot a steel match with it and the price was way too good), it is a little large for anything practical I think. I normally shoot limited 40, so maybe a 610 would be a better fit for me. But I have dreams of getting an open gun... Thanks again for the responses and pms.
  13. Don't let any of these guys talk shit. My wife said, "Awe, what a pretty gun, I think purple would look cool..." Seriously, I think we are just jealous. I want more guns...
  14. So do you just attach your drop leg holster to your inner belt? Also, is that a bandoleer or a belt for the shotgun shells?
  15. What kind of cost are these conversions usually running? I have seen a few in shot gun news for about 200, is that fairly standard?
  16. I have no idea. This is the first PC revolver I have ever even handled and seeing as I don't shoot wheel guns, I have no base for what's needed. I was curious what made them PC verus regular. At this point, I am not sure I am going to hold on to it, seeing as I am shooting a match about once every 5-6 weeks, but I like this revolver a lot and was curious about what it needed to be competition ready.
  17. that sounds ridiculous. I had a slide stop spring break, I electrical taped it down for a month and Glock sent me a new spring a week after contacting them to replace it. It was terrible. I just use the slide stop level so very often. Especially since I make it a point to run my gun dry before every mag change I really can't imagine how dry firing would effect that spring...
  18. does your fried need another friend to pick raffle tickets for. I think I could get 1-2 more guns in my safe, hell, I could always buy another safe...
  19. these chronoed in at 155 PF Just a heads up.
  20. Straight from S&W. I have a bunch of moon clips, holster, ammo holders. What do trigger jobs on these usually run? Is there any adjusting of the action needed? Thanks for the info.
  21. Well, it went fast for 600.00 anyone was interested in current market value. I think I might have been able to get more if I had been patient; however, getting it to go in one week was definately nice.
  22. I was thinking about trying to sell it online on gunbroker or something just do to time constraints with work and having wierd unpredictable hours. That is somethin gI had not considered before. Not that I ever need a reason to go to the gun show, but...
  23. Well, long story short, my mother in law has a Colt Mustang MKIV Series 80 Plus II with the two orig mags, box and manual she wants me to sell for her. The gun has a stainless finish, some very like scratch handling marks and I think might have had 100rnds thru the gun 10 years ago. I put some pics in here. Any ideas on what she could expect to get for it or what a fair asking price is. Only bad thing I can see on the gun, which I am completely unfamiliar with is that she painted the almost no exhistant sites with either white out on the rear and nail polish on the front or some type of hobby paint. I think I should be able to remove it without marring up the gun, but any thoughts on that? and the pics, because every thread should have some... http://www.supermotors.net/vehicles/registry/9140/61676 link in case the in thread pictures fail. Thanks for any info or help. I know next to nothing about these guns.
  24. This just brought up a little movie in my head, too funny. I will normally use 180s, but I got quite a few 220s for free and want to use them. I have a crazy scheudue right now and am basically out of the ipsc game for a while, but setting up a steel stage for a random wednesday afternoon is cake. So not too terribly worried about being competitive at the moment, just wanting a decent load and some practice ammo.
  25. that sure is a lot of posts without a lot of pictures. Damn I want a 610 already. Not to mention a Sing Stack in .40......
